Miquel: It was a massive result for Arsenal – but every game is tough!

Posted on January 11, 2012 by admin

The youngster Ignasi Miquel was drafted into the makeshift Arsenal defence for the FA Cup tie against Leeds and was very pleased that they managed to keep a clean sheet despite having so many defensive injuries.

Even after Coquelin was forced off with a hamstring problem and replaced by the even younger Nico Yennaris, the Gunners back line held firm and Miquel thinks that was the key to Arsenal going through to the next round.

“We knew that if we kept a clean sheet we would probably win the game,” Miquel said. “Because we are a good team and we know we are going to create chances and score goals.

“We did well. Everybody knew that Leeds would come here and it would be a tough game for us. But I think we dominated the game from the beginning to the end and we deserved the result.

“I think this was a massive result for us to get back to winning ways. I think in the Premier League, every game right now is a tough one. We can’t do much more than work and try to play our game.”

It is set to be an even tougher game this weekend at Swansea, especially as the welsh side love to attack the full-backs. Arsenal don’t have any of them at all!

I love Miquel, will be a great player
Suarez is overrated, mark my words. I’m belgian and have seen him many times. Not Arsenal material I’m afraid. If he comes I hope the prof will make him good

miquel is simly amzing. when i watched his first game i was worried. can he be increase his skill. but i see each match a huge drastic imrovement. which i really love. have a good sense f game and the opponent. even yennaris. his second game. lack of confident at the begining. but after few mins he showed good peice of soccer. i really became a fan of yenaris. i think v have a amazing young team. v need few strikers. v good to go. loan defender would solve our issue. good game gooner

Want to see yennaris and miquel play a bit more games they look very promising, same goes for the Ox
as well, give them a shot at coming on as a sub or something instead of the usual deadwood accumulaters. . . they dont grow but the youngsters can.

If you think of all the youth players we have an amazing team coming through? Literally a cup winning team. We just need to keep hold of them. We have the 21yo goalie. We have the young defenders, yennaris, miguel, bartley, Gibbs, jenkinson.

Mids we have. Jack, Rambo, Pong, Coq. Up front, Miyatchi, Ox.

We just need new Henry (Campbell) and some depth. But watching all of them now. When they hit 24 it should be amazing?

  10. Big Gun says:

Guys, honestly we did not play all that well. If it wasn’t for Henry’s sublime touch it would have been nil nil. Our defense was good, but our midfield and attack, except for AOC was pathetic. We really need better midfielders than Ramsey and Arteta, they just aren’t creative and daring enough.

I would like to see both Miquel and Yennaris play again, as I would feel safer with them than with the donkey and the squid in defense. Kossie was brilliant.

Up front, more Park, AOC and Miyaichi please.

arteta is doing ok but thats all. he doesnt get involved enough in the last third. when wilshere comes back it,ll be a lot better, but we still need some out and out flair. theres no width at the mo cos of the fullbacks , and walcott dare i say it has never performed for long enough. the ox gas to have his place. and as for that lazy dissinterested overpayed russian tosser, please wenger set martin keown on him!!

    Stop hiding non-offensive commends:
Many posts on this site are being hiden, not because they in anyway are abusive, but because they’re rated unpopular! Admin please change this policy, think about the fact, that only 5 months ago it would have been unpopular – and therefore a hidden comment – to try to defend a Wenger!
The Suarez-rumour is so silly, that it almost offends, but seriously, why hide it?

on another note, Nico Yennaris looked good as rb – I’d choose him over Djourou. Wonder what would be the best bay to play King Henry AND RVP at the same time?

Hi Rob, I asked the readers before implementing this rating add-on and it was wanted. But I find that it is good that you can still read the hidden comment anyway.
But i can and WILL increase the numbers needed to hide a comment as we have so many voters.
One other thing, I don’t understand why the Suarez comment was hidden, especially as it seems to be true. In fact I have just written a post about it…..

    reply to admin,
good that it´ll require more votes to hide – majorities are often wrong.
that that I know that we´re talking Suarez from Anderlecht, not liverpool, I say why not, looks good on youtube, we can loose Chamahk and Bendtner.
