Mohamed Zidan confirms Arsenal’s interest
The Egyptian striker Mohammed Zidan, who scored Egypt’s only goal against England last week, has revealed that Arsenal have been watching him play lately.
Zidan is currently playing for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundseliga, but, according to his father, he has a clause in his contract which allows him to talk to any big clubs that come in for him.
Zidan, 28, said yesterday: “My agent spoke to me after the game and told me about Arsenal’s interest.
“He asked me to try to impress them, and become the first Egyptian to play for the Gunners.”
It was first revealed last week that Arsenal were among the teams watching Zidan, when his father, Abdullah Zidan, told Dream TV: “Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona have talked to Mohamed’s agent,”.
Even though it is thought that Marouane Chamakh is certain to come to the Emirates in the summer, there are still further rumours that Wenger is still looking at other strikers. Could he possibly need any more?

Wenger is not the kind of person to dismiss the likes of Eduardo or Vela in order to find a place for untested and untried strikers. Should Chamakh join us I think that is as far as he will go. Eduardo and Vela are due for a big 2010/11 season and Van Persie will be back so will Djourou so outside strikers I think Wenger will concentrate on defensive mid field. Then we have to remember our production line of talent waiting in the wings.
Zidan is a great player and could play at any big club in Europe.
Him at Emirate Stadium will help and improve his game…welcome pharaoh.

Chamak is younger and is free end of season i doubt scrooge mcduck will splash the cash on dis guy . He must of been 2nd choice had chamak sign for another club like liverpool who were interested

I’m really surprised why so many Gooners appreciate Mohamed Zidan so much. I’m from Germany, so I’m able to watch his performances every week, and for me, there’s no doubt that he’s never a player who’s worth to play for Arsenal. His games for the national team may be impressiv, but you can trust me that his appearences for Dortmund aren’t outstanding enough to call him in a row with e.g. Robin van Persie. Furthermore, it often looks like he’s more a diva than a professional, though I have to admit that his behaviour was better in last time. But do we really need a player of this attitude when he hasn’t got unbelievable talent? And, of course, he’s already too old for Arsène Wenger. So let’s forget his name linked with our Gunners – and let’s be happy about it. Mario Balotelli would be a better thing, I think.

He would be great addiition to arsenal, he can easily take Eduardo, vela, And bendtner’s place. He would make an awesome partnership with the like of fabergas, van persie or arshavin. Watch out for the new zidan. I have been following him for couple of years n I always wondered why this guy is not with one of the worlds top clubs, it seems that he really matured n brought his game to a new level this year though. This guy will not b more than 10 million so they can get him for a great deal.
Surely Zidan will be good for arsenal but we have too many options unless he is going to play on the flank.
Ok, not going to happen, We might be looking at him, but this is nothing but agent and dad trying to garner interest from top clubs. IF Chamakh puts pen to paper for the gunners, that’s it for strikers. UNLESS Vela or Eduardo are going out on loan or permanent 9not going to happen) If Zidan comes, it’ll be nice as Wenger would have pulled a wool over our face. I expect defence is the priority with maybe a midfielder. Even defence may not be addressed with Djourou, Nordtveit, Bartley, Bortelho, Ayling all coming back, Arsene would have to look at Nordtveit or Bortelho developed and see if Bartley is ready. Djourou is the undisputed replacement for Gallas. I expect Wilshere to take Ramsey’s place in first team or Eastmond. Also JET is very versatile and has height and power to play anywhere. Agian, Zidan could be good for 2 years, but unless Arshavin, Vela or Eduardo are out, i don’t expect Le Boss to make this happen. Fine player though, Zidan.
..Oh also, me thinks Le Boss will bring in a goalie..
