More quality strikers linked to Arsenal
In my last article regarding the possible transfer of the Cologne striker, Lukas Podolski, to Arsenal, the comments flooded in saying there has been a pre-contract agreement between Arsenal and Matias Suarez. Although this sounds good from a Gooner’s perspective, there is no official news on the Arsenal website and hence I implore you to take that ‘pre-contract agreement’ with a pinch of salt.
I remember last summer that Arsenal had apparently signed Alvarez on a pre-contract agreement and we all know that at the last minute Inter Milan came in and hijacked the deal.
Anyway, I thought I would talk about a couple more of the possible strikers Arsenal could get as a backup to Van Persie or as a replacement (aside from Lukas Podolski and Matias Suarez):
Gonzalo Higuain:
The Argentine is a world-class striker, make no mistake about that. His stats at Madrid read 83 goals in 148 appearances. Those are pretty amazing if you ask me. This year alone he has scored 14 goals in 21 appearances. As we can see, he has been in form for most of his career and still is at this very moment. He is also only 24 meaning he has a lot of time left to improve and become even better than he already is. You need a striker like that if you’re going to replace Van Persie. I’m not saying he’s better than our captain, however I feel he would be the best replacement as Real Madrid would be likely involved in any sale of Van Persie.
Stephane Sessegnon:
The Benin striker has lit up his Premier league this season. He has been on fire for the Black cats and has caught the prying eyes of bigger clubs around the globe. He looks quick, crafty and can assist as well as score. This season total brings him to 6 goals and 9 assist. It’s no Van Persie stat but it is impressive. All you have to do is look at Liverpool and their ‘world-class’ striker, Suarez who has also scored 6 goals this season. If Arsenal were to ever get him, he would most likely be a backup to the Dutchman rather than his replacement.
There should really be no excuse when we go looking for a striker this summer as there is a wealth of talent to be had in the transfer market at the moment.

If van Persie does go to Barca or Madrid, it will most likely involve swap deals with Villa or Higuain involved +cash also. Both are good replacements.

Aw will not let VP leave, plus RVP is not willing to be a Bench warmer. He Knows that at Arsenal he rules uncontested, he not going to spain to compete for opportunity to be in the starting line up of Real or Barca. Arsenal is giving him opportunity for glory like TH. Bet TH is sorry he went to Barca.

AW needs to get the pre agreements in place now. Let’s pray Hazaard does not go to Spurs as this would be a huge loss to us. Come on Wenger, we need him and you like him very much, as well as how much you like his style. Need that extra quality striker.
