The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that both Lukas Fabianski and Samir Nasri are back in training, and they should be available to the squad by the time the next senior game comes along, but will they even get into the match squad?
Poor Fabianski got injured at a bad time, considering that he would have been guaranteed a good run in the team when Almunia was laid low with his mystery virus.
But, alas, Vito Mannone stepped up and has put himself in the reckoning to be first choice goalkeeper, especially after his fantastic performance against Fulham. So if Almunia returns next week as well, Fabianski could find himself relegated to third choice as the other two fight it out for first place.
Samir Nasri is certainly good enough to get back into the squad, but how can Wenger change a winning formula.
Nasri is laso a little unlucky as Thomas Rosicky has now settled back into his old form, and has earned enough brownie points in the last few games to cement his place in the team.
When he was taken off against Blackburn, it was to give Theo Walcott his first run-out since returning from injury too. So Theo and Rosicky got themselves in the frame before Nasri even has a chance to get fit.
Arshavin and Fabregas are certain starters while they are fit, and Diaby is now part of the furniture.
Ramsey also got a run out at Blackburn, replacing Fabregas when the game was over as a contest, so Wenger has an abundance of riches to choose from.
So where will Nasri fit in if there are no more injuries?

i dont know why people are trying to make it sound like walcott, nasri and rosicky not getting into the sqaud is a bad thing. we havnt won the league for 4 years because we have gad a small squad but now when we have a sqaud that is capable of winning the league you are moaning that some players cannot get into the team.
its simple we will rotate (cesc and van persie will even get a rest, how can that be a bad thing)
and dont woory with our injury jinx well still have plenty time for everyone to play.
lets get behind the team and this team could be great!!!
pat how in the world is it that u can say diaby has been brilliant this season??? if u look at the games again u will relaize thta diaby has, single handedly given away the posetion of the ball more then any other or the whole team combined… he is slow holds the ball far too long and with a very low work rate…
he reminds me of adebayor last season..
before he got injured wenger played nasri in the cm position.. i think he will be partnerin Fabregas in the middle so fab wont have to take up all the creative responsibilities and can help out a little defensively.
I think with their return, Arsenal has depth. Now Arsenal can challenge, not with Liverpool rotation’s but with the depth that Chelsea has.
Each game requires different players. Do I need speed .. then Theo is in. Do I need height, then Diaby is in, ..etc.
This will make us unpredictable. Mid table teams cant prepare for Arsenal any more. Scout reports can never help preparing against a team that can line up so many different players.
Diaby must be dropped for Nasri. Its a no brainer
There’s no need to worry about selection problems, Van Persie is due his yearly 1-2 month injury, while we have a number of players due their international knocks too. My guess is Arshavin, Diaby and Rosicky will return with knocks ranging from 2-3 weeks to a few months.
The only players we really can’t do without at the moment are Gallas, Verminator and Song.
Because of his recent sensational form and our luck, you can guarantee Fabregas as a candidate for a long term injury.
In which games was Diaby “brilliant” in exactly? The Pompey game he scored twice in is one, but name another please. Its an absolute joke that you think Diaby is even half the player Nasri is. Before Samir’s leg took him out of the line-up, AW was talkin about Nasri playing a deep midfield position this season. Why would that change? Diaby is a seat filler who wouldn’t even be playing if Denilson or Nasri were fit.

I am in no doubt about Tim Rosicky ability but Nasri is top class quality. He will get into the team. Arsenal with Nasri- Fabregas and Arsharvin provide us well fluidity and balance. When we play Man U, one player can’t mark Nasri, they require two men(Oshea and Fletcher or Evra and Vidic to mark him alone bcos of his quick and elastic movement. Folks who know football understand what am talking about. The guy is a quality and has great talent.He deserves to play. Fit rosicky will play 7 Nasri 11.

Nah… Nasri will replace Diaby, and this is final. Diaby is playing simply because Denilson is injured. Wenger has plans of shifting Nasri to a DM, and therefore this is the reason he resisted to invest in another DM, even though he knew Song would be gone for the ANC in January.
Nasri has also said that he would be interested in playing as a DM. Furthermore, Nasri is a centre player, and not so much as a winger. He was a centre midfielder for marseille before coming to arsenal. He excelled for us when playing in the CM role when Cesc was out last season.
Diaby on the other hand, only gave us a good display once in a blue moon. He was fantastic against portsmouth and then disasterous against Man utd. This guy is inconsistent and is always running around like a headless chicken. Furthermore he slows the game down and likes to dribble too much. He cant pass early and his passing rate sucks. He can tackle and defend as well. Given his height he scores own goal instead of heading the ball away. Simply speaking, diaby is not arsenal material. He would be better off playing football elsewhere.
Nasri, is a quality player as we all already know. He can shoot outside the penalty box. Full of tricks and his passes are good. He can play alongside Song and help in both defence and attack. If wenger decides to rotate and rest rosicky and arshavin at the same time, Nasri can play as a left sided attacker. Otherwise just partner him with Song and Cesc in the middle.
Imagine Cesc and Nasri as the centre playmakers with arshavin on the left of the attack and rosicky on the right. That is literally having 4 players that have good ball control, good passing ability, good shooting skills, tricking and quick passing players. And lets not forget RvP as the centre striker. That is 5 quality player in attack. Is this even legal???
With Song as the DM, Nasri and Cesc can weave their magic. If need be Nasri can drop back to help out in defence. I believe wenger wants to turn him into a DM or someone like andrea pirlo of ac milan – a playmaker as well as a DM.
With Eduardo, Vela, Walcott, Bendtner, Wilshere, Merida, Traore, Ramsey, Eboue, Denilson all as the reserves, arsenal are full of attacking players WITH quality. Rotation would not be a problem for us, and I would definitely like to see more rotation to keep the players happy and fresh. They are all arsenal players and has been taught to play football the arsenal way – fast, quick and short passing. So I am not afraid say that if we rotate the squad and we will fail to perform just as well.
The only player that does not play the arsenal way is diaby as he does not like to pass quick and short. He would rather dribble or does some wayward passings to his colleagues and let them run after the ball. Diaby is simply the worst player ever. 1 good game, 5 average game and 4 bad games… who would want such a player, definitely not me!!!

first nasri is not a defensive midfielder. in fact he’s more of an attacking midfielder than fabregas will ever be – think xavi and iniesta. – so as for nasri replacing diaby, its likely but not automatic.
secondly you cannot use the word brilliant and diaby in the same sentence, they just don’t go along.

Diaby is the single most unwanted player that arsenal have. He holds up the ball excessively, makes poor passes, breaks up the attack better than the opposition,… the list is endless… so endless that some of you have not noticed how much he has changed in the last two or three games. he passes faster(his passing range is still awful), presses the opposition when posession is not ours(gives away too many fouls) etc. i’m not his biggest fan as i once wanted arsene to get rid of ade, diaby and bendtner but to be sincere, the problem here is arsene.
The team is bigger than one player. arsene should have bought a world class dm but he chose song, a player over the team. He should train diaby to watch his attacking instincts but he lets the lad play his own game.
Damn_Gallas you think that wenger wants to turn nasri into a DM, im not sure how to begin insulting you for such a stupid comment, pirlo sits in that position so well because he plays in italy, slow boring football, pirlo hardly has alot to deal with does he, stick him in the epl and he’d be in trouble.

i think the only bad thing about all our big boys being back is that we wont see wilshire for a while, i was hoping that whilst nasri and walcot were out that wilshire would get some games because the lad is pure class, i think he is our most prized possetion.

i would play walcott against slower teams to expose their weaknesses but rosicky in other games because when he is at his best he is technically a better player than walcott(remember though walcott is only 20 so he has plenty of time)
nasri is a wing because that is where wenger needed him last year. in all actuality he does not have enough pas to be a true winger. fab and nasri would be fine across the middle with song lying further back. rvp, rosicky and the ruski across the top, with tomas and andrey flip floping side as they see fit.
oh, and john for all the ripping you do, your spelling and grammar are horrible, learn speak properly before you attack others opinions. if AW bought a top quality dm we could play two attacking minded players in front of him.
Dont write off Diaby just yet, he certainly isnt crap he is not yet experienced enough and doesnt get a consistent run of games. He is short of match experience given all the injuries he has had in the past and the fact he is naturally an attacking midfielder but has been played all over the park when he is fit! Provided he stays fit, same time next season, he will be a player in a different class.
He is tall, athletic, strong and technically very good. He will come of age soon. His touch and quick passing will improve and so will his positioning. He also needs some confidence.
While I prefer denilson playing in the DM role together with Song as they compliment eachother, Denilson had a whole season to get used to playing there, while diaby hasnt had that much game time. In the final third, Diaby is very good.
On using internal players to fill in the dm role, i think perhaps Denilson and Nasri who is a central midfielder. Can he fill in the anchor role while song is in africa? Who knows, he will need to be a tough tackler and be able to break up play . Again, he is an attacking player in my eyes and loves running with the ball.
first of all if this was about competition then nasri will take diabys position 9 out of 10 because diaby is not consistent enough but for everyone to say that he is rubbish is insulting. People forget the good things people have done for this team or games, crucial passes etc. a few examples van persies equalizer against everton last season in the last second at everton who was the supplier, his performance at fenerbache, at the emirates against roma, i dont care what any one says but diaby is a very good player he just needs support and consistency because he has quality and attitude. i agree with the stuff people say about he holds the ball far too long and looses it as i get frustrated too but dont mean you have to deny this guy has quality because he does have it and it just needs to be supported and directed in the right way. nasri for as much as i love him and wish to see him return like RIGHT NOW he will play along side cesc in the 4-3-3, but i agree with what john said arsene may want to go for the balance not too attacking minded but who knows, faris you have a good point too about should we play a weaker team we play walcott as his speed will terrorise defenders but in the big games like chelsea and man united you could bring him on the 2nd half as we need the likes of rosicky, arshavin who are full of experience to handle the wings. bongo your a clown why you want our players to come back with injuries for.

think you guys are too harsh on diaby. please allow him to come along. he will become a beast of a player. i think wenger would play him ahead of nasri in the cm position and people shouldnt be too surprised when that happens. potentially is a better tackler than nasri. his height would come in handy on set pieces and his long stride will give us something extra on the counter attack. the team we see now i believe is wenger’s first choice team. i love nasri and i think he will fight it out with rosicky for the right striker spot in the 433 formation. my problem though is that should song leave for the acn who plays cdm and should gallas get injured would wenger choose silvestre over senderous at cb?
arshavin and rosicky could play central along with fabregas so nasri could still be running at the wing. fabregas should be more defensive though if arsh and ros is in midfield because he’ll be in diaby’s position which connects the defense and the offense and he has better marking ability rather than those 2. but, that is if wenger wants Nasri in. I just can’t see him playing beside fabregas.

I think that Diaby will come along eventually but its true he is very inconsistent and doesnt bother to fight for the ball back when he consistently looses it!
Its difficult cause the team needs a bit of height and diaby is the player that can provide it, provided he starts using it to score goals in the opposition net and not ours

So at the moment i think leave diaby in so that his confidence can grow but rotate the team around. My biggest concerns are in the backline, we are great offensively and at the moment better defensively but as most people have said if either gallas, verm or song get injured we have real problems!
Everytime i think of our defensive replacements makes my stomach turn, but am hoping senderos will come up trumps because i have very little faith in silvestre!
I am hoping arsene will buy a centre back in january, rumours of puyol would be great, but that is not going to happen for sure

But clearly there is little difference in quality between the two. We absolutely have complete quality covers for every position other than The CBs. I’m afraid there could easy be an imbalance at the back when any one of the two get injured..
Diaby has been the reason why we haven’t been winning all our games this season. When Diaby plays, it is like we have got 10 players and the opposition has 12 players.
Things he has clearly done wrong:
1)Gave the ball away more than anyone else
2)Slow down play
3)Clumsy
4)Caused the own goal
5)Injured Nasri, who would’ve been a far better player to play in Diaby’s position
“squad” is the key word. fabregas , arshavin , and van persie cant be expected to play 50 games a season. you need class players to come in when required. I have no doubt, when fit, Nasri will be in the starting line up for most games, but not every team plays the same. that’s why Arsene Wenger is the manager. he may prefer 4-5-1 against some teams but as Sunderland showed 4-4-2 can cause man utd problems. whatever the stategy there are 7 deffinates . which are better than best 7 players from any the other top 4 teams.
