Nasri signs for City and his replacement Mata signs for Chelsea – WTF!

Posted on August 25, 2011 by admin

So can things get any worse? I spend a week in a hospital that doesn’t have internet (not that I could have used my fingers with all those tubes sticking out of me) and as soon as i get home I find that Samir Nasri has earned Arsenal another £24m, while his supposed replacement, Juan Mata, has joined Chelsea for slightly less than that.

So not only have we lost a great player, we have also lost out on his replacement (who is probably better than Nasri anyway) to one of our title rivals.

Now I may have had a bad week, and Arsenal beating Udinese to reach the Champions League Group Stages has slightly cheered me up, but what is the point when we have Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City (who have all invested HEAVILY in their squads) standing in the way of actually winning it? I guess at least we can’t meet any of them until the quarter finals but we can meet Barcelona, Real Madrid or bloody Accrington Stanley before then, and they won’t be easy either!

And in the League we are going to have Adebayor waiting to bite us up the arse now he’s at Tottenham, as well as 15 other teams desperate to beat an Arsenal team that is falling apart. Can we really hang on to fourth place in the League. Is Wenger really a magician?

It certainly doesn’t look good from where I’m sitting, and I have got hundreds of drugs to make me feel better……

I’ve had enough of all this crap, I’m off to lose myself in some mobile casino games on my phone……

Hopefully with this Arsenal win we can start to pick up. Now that we’re in the Champions League we’ve got a whole lot of extra money from TV rights and we’ll get even more from tickets. Arsenal are not short of money, so new players must come in! With the squad we have, wed be lucky to finish 6th or 7th. And there’s only 7 days left to sign players, we need new players fast or things will start looking even worse for us…

    hope you’re recovering well admin!

Watching yesterdays game made me have a little more faith in Arsenal and Wenger, i do know that he will sign replacements for the Nasri and Fabregas, and i TRUST Wenger will sign high quality players. Now that we are in the Champions league, it was evident in yesterday’s match that he did not believe the squad was on a Champions League level, so he’ll sign.

  3. bradster says:

I think We still need 4 signings. Buy a LB so Sagna can go back to RB. CB because Djourou is not premiership material. Creative midfielder cos Ramsey still needs time and is slow on the ball. Finally, a 30 goal striker for when RVP is injured cos Walcott wouldn’t be able to shoot a fish in a barrel.

  4. arsenal till i die says:

there’s a few transfer rumours that i hope it’ll come true.
on daily mail, arsenal had enquire kaka on a long season loan deal but fail. murinho insisted for a permanent deal. value 17.5 m euro. age 29. i think its really worth it. he’s a great player. he can play for arsenal for maybe 4 years more to come. another rumours is on metro, raul albiol is on the lease. and interested for arsenal football. age 25 for 8mil i suppose. he’s a brilliant player. even ramos preferred him to play in cb. and yet yann m’villa, im not sure of this player. age 21 worth 22mil. as quoted, he will add strength to the defensive midfield area despite of song’s red card. and yet again. eden hazard, 26 mil. he’s worth buying. arsene should maybe consider to add another striker on board. i hope these signing would come true. well i doubt that hazard is coming. but, for the rest. is a big possibility. this could be a marquee and genuine signing for arsenal.
IN ARSENAL WE TRUST. IN ARSENE WE TRUST. ARSENAL TILL WE DIE. KEEP THE FAITH.

Well, first stop raging, it’s bad for your health.

Second, we got a replacement for nasri in gervinho, left winger for left winger, which is fair IMO.

What we need to replace is CM for cesc and a striker if bendtner leave. Also a CB to cover the injuries.

35m for albiol diarra and kaka seems like good business to me. 10m on cissokh 6 on drogba and 16 on cahill.

  7. bradster says:

Marvin Martin looked so much better than Nasri when France played. I think he’ll make a great replacement and not too expensive if we definitely can’t get Hazard. Kaka is a great signing but I doubt Arsenal will pay his high wages.
7 days left so Wenger needs to buy now. At least we’ll finally see this busy summer as us buying and not just selling.

  8. T2T says:

It was reported early during the summer that AW had 25m to spend. In addition, we have sold Cesc (35), Nasri (24), Clichy (7), Eboue (3) and Emmanuel-Thomas (1), bringing in approximately 70m. We’ve brought in Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gervinho, Jenkinson and Campbell for a total of around 25m. It’s not unrealistic to assume Clichy, Nasri and Cesc were among the top earners at Arsenal.
Instead of focusing on the number of players, I’d like to get the very highest quality in. We should have at least 70m + Bendtner (9) and Almunia (1). Go for the very top in the 23-27 year old bracket. 1-2 CB and 1 CM.

Arsenal just need a 30 goal striker. Ramsey wil replace fab. Gervinho 4 nasri. Fellow gunners pls stop comparing arsenal to these other teams. We believe in our youth system and wont change. Lets support wenger he is still our manager until he gets sacked.

Yesterdays game will definitely give the team the confidence they have been lacking since the season began,I saw glimpses of the old arsenal towards the end of the game.but we still need a few players in the midfield attack and defense but I reall don’t see wenger signing what we actually need becuase the team will not do much in the premier league and further in the UCL.Thank God for Vermaelen and Sceszney, the pair are a blessing.

this 5 days will tell us were we stand!!

We still have good players but they are rarely together to conform a strong starting XI!! If only we had healthier players then we wouldn’t be in such a desperate need of 4-5 signings.

And we definitely need to pay higher salaries, with this current policies it would be no wonder that Wilshere and Fringpong leave in two years to either chelsea or mancity.

From what we are told signing new players is a bit like winning the Grand National on a donkey and we`ve got only a week to do it. Unless there are some very advanced negotiations we don`t know of I think next Wednesday midnight is a little too close. Sunday is the last Sunday for prayer….be there!

  14. Charlie says:

Yann M’Vila to be signed this week. Marvin Martin and Phil Jagielka next week. We’ll have a midfield perfect for maintaining possession of the football, even with a couple out injured, and in Martin or an improving Tomas Rosicky we’ll have some creativity to match Cesc in his sub-par performances last season (although not if he’d been at his best). Gervinho will be an excellent signing and then it’s just down to one of Arshavin, Walcott, Miyaichi or Oxlade-Chamberlain to claim that other wing spot. In defense and in goal we’ve looked solid as long as Squillaci and Djourou aren’t on the pitch so with TV5, Kos and Jagielka in front of the superb Szczesny we’ll have the most solid back line that we’ve had for years. Keep the faith fellow fans !

If anybody actually watched the WHOLE game yesterday, you would have seen that the team’s first half performance is NOT good enough! The defensive fralities once again allowed Udinese to score! What will happen to the team when injuries and suspensions occur!?

And can someone explain why Sagna was playing in the left back position!? He couldn’t even get a single decent cross in from that position! Why is clichy not replaced!?

It’s great that we won but it was far from convincing and the superb penalty save by Szczesny was the turning point. It would have perhaps been a different story had they scored their penalty.

The club still needs some quality signings to compete.

  17. pontus says:

Come on! Get behind the team! Nasri wanted to leave cos we couldn’t pay him what ManC offered.
Mata didn’t want to come to us cos he thought Chelsea is a team with better chances of a trophy (and pays much more).
I agree with AW, we do still need signings in order to have a squad that can be competetive throughout a whole season but you and many other “fans” are an embaressement to the club. If you want to support a club who buys anyone at any price I suggest you hop on the train and follow Nasri up to Eastlands.

You are a bunch of whining, booing good-for-nothing sods. Sometimes I wish blogs were never invented.

It’s easy, support the team or don’t support the team. But stop trying to ruin it.

@charlie, you hit the nail right on the head mate! Well said! But, not only will we have a great midfield for maintaining possession, we’ll have an excellent midfield for REGAINING possession in song, m’vila, frimpong, wilshere and ramsey, who are all very persistent ball retrievers. If Arsenal need a replacement for Nasri, it’s not a winger. As far as I know, an offer was placed for Mata, but it fell through a month ago, and the papers kept recycling it over and over. The fact is Arsenal hardly need him anymore, having 3 new wingers (Gervinho, Miyaichi, Oxlade). I agree that what they need is a solid creative midfielder. And I do think Martin could do rather well. He would also fit the current setup, filling in for Ramsey if and when the latter is not in shape. Like right now.
As for other replacements, I only see a need for a good striker. I don’t know if Campbell can be it, I’d like to see him play, though, just for the sake of knowing what he’s about. The fact is Arsenal are looking for two attackers, one that would supersede Chamakh, and another that would replace Bendtner if he goes.
Arsenal’s defence will only need another acquisition if Wenger decides Squillaci is finished.

Gervinho is promising and i agree that he can be a replacement for Nasri. We need now an attacking and creative mildfilder to replace Fab which could be Harzard if we offer gud money.

At the back Jagielka and Cahill as CBs. Ideally it would look like this

    Schezney

    Sagna Jagielka Cahill Vamelain

    Song Wilshere

    Harzard

    Walcot Van Persie Gervinho

What do you think? Effectivley for the first eleven we just need two CBs and a creative Midfielder who can bring out the best from our forwards…

jack wilshere sh&ts in ramsey’s mouth n is probably better then martin HE should be playmaker not DM or CM and ramsey should be his back-up when or if he get’s injured, arsenal need m’villa to take that position jack left next too song n with the wingers we DO need 1 more (miyachi, AOC should NOT be thrown 1st team opportunities at such a crucial season 4 us, arshavin should join etoo in russia and rosisky is a good emergency back up typed player) eden hazard should be it n we need 2 defenders LB, CB (gibbs is injured every second game and isn’t even ready yet anyway and djorou is injury and error prone, kos is still developing as well so they should be DEMOTED to 2nd team n prove their worthy 4 1st team action) i think verthongen n cahill r essentials (verthongen is pretty much vermaelen but 7cm taller n can play LB, CB, DM), (cahill gives english backbone n since chelsea, liverpool, United n city can’t afford 2 sign anymore cause of FFP rules we can get him on the cheap cause bolton won’t let him go 4 free next summer) with these signings we will have moved forward n this actually would be a great window as we lost 2 mentally weak n overrated players (nasri, clichy) as well as a captain who never really had his heart with us last season

adding 3 winners (gervinho, hazard, verthongen) as 100% dedicated people 2 the club arsenal can win ANYTHING this season

I think this season we’ll settle for 5th and perhaps the Carling cup (Who even QPR don’t care about). We usually put our kids in those competitions, who are now in our starting 11… so theoretically we’ll have our first team out :(

I think we need at least 3 more players… 1 defender and 2 midfielder’s. Although that’s almost 1 signing a day. Very unlikely, but at least the board will have a nice holiday bonus.

Amazing, Arsenal fans agreeing for a change, it’s nice to see. I too think Hazard (failing him Martin) for AM, M’Vila for Ball-Winning midfielder and had been thinking of Jags or Cahill for CB but maybe Verhongen would work nicely. I’m wondering about Kaka too. Has he lost is or has he just fallen out with Mourinho because if he hasn’t lost it there aren’t many better in the playmaker role. The rumour is that Arsene bid to have him on loan and was told to buy him for 17m but no loan deal. So if we believe the press and Arsene is interested would he ever pay 17m for a 29yo. I think not, there is little chance of recovering that money.

Nice to see the upbeat attitude for a change. Arsene looked very relieved on interview last night. We looked very good holding onto the ball, something that was missing recently, but again could’t find the way through until Ger found his feet. Again we looked very frail when teams attacked us quickly. All my mates have been saying why didn’t we buy a goalie. I said it’s because we don’t need one. Szchesny is looking very good and didn’t cost the 20mill ManU paid for their 20 year old. Unfortunately Ramsey doesn’t look good enough, I think we need some cover there, and Theo needs to practice in front of the goals if he is going to make the grade as a stricker. Another strong midfielder, a centre back, and a stricker and we’ll be back competing again. Ha! imagine the Arsenal buying 3 more players this summer. (6 in total) Don’t think so, but we can always hope. Long live Arsene!

the comment that irks me most is the one about sagna delivering no crosses.he made THE telling contribution in that match. going forward and delivered the assist that led to walcott’s goal.i think sagna played very well in unfamiliar position and for the youngsters i think jenkinson and Sczeny have very cool heads especially the former who was making his debut in an away CPL match.as i have said before it’s ok to criticise but not to the point of being blind.anyway we need reinforcements in key areas but these kids aren’t like the arsenal of last season which often folded when cornered but yesterday i saw frimpong and jenkinson harrying opponents into making errors, not afraid to tackle and defending as a unit.yesterday , FOR THE FIRST TIME I SAW GUYS WHO WERE PROUD OF WEARING THE ARSENAL SHIRT,even the normally dull rosicky was influential in the second half and ensured that we dominated the midfield

mate, you are delusional. I said “he (sagna) couldn’t even get a single decent cross in from that position” I never said anything about him not making an assist that led to walcot’s goal.

By the way, they played a one two pass and NOT A CROSS! Do you even know the difference!?
