Nasri wants out – “Trophies more important than money”

Posted on July 03, 2011 by admin

So it seems that it doesn’t really matter if Arsene Wenger ups the wages of Samir Nasri as that is not the reason he has so far rejected Arsenal’s offer of a new contract. Wenger said when he asked about the contract talks that the diffrence was purely “financial“, but according to Nasri today, there are some things far more important than money.

He said: “Money has never been my motivation,”

“I have always taken decisions from a football point of view.

“I don’t want to sign for a club where I wouldn’t be playing the football that I like, where I wouldn’t feel happy, just for the sake of money.

“We already earn huge wages. The priority is to make a big career and to win titles.

“This is more important than everything else. I know the value and the meaning of money.”

“With no titles under your belt, you can’t be in the list for the Ballon D’Or. I came to England to get trophies because I haven’t won anything in my career, apart from an Under-17 European Championship in 2004.

“We all need to get out of our comfort zone to grow up and test ourselves.

“Even without winning trophies, I think I have grown up.

“I am hungry for titles. I play football because I love this sport and want to feel the emotion of winning.

“Lifting a trophy all together, this is the beauty and sense of team sports.”

It looks like Nasri is turning into another Nicklas Bendtner. He want’s to win the Ballon D’Or? Well perhaps if he had played good football all season (not just four months!) then Arsenal could have won some trophies and he may have been Player-of-the-Year.

Some of these big-headed players are just too much. Everyone thinks that they are the best player in the world, but get them together as a team and they collapse like a pack of cards.

Denilson wants to be a regular for Brazil. Fabregas wants to win titles even if he sits on the bench. Nasri want’s the Ballon D’Or. Bendtner wants the Golden Boot!

Well they can all f*ck off and see their careers go right downhill from next season. I’ll be glad to see the back of the lot of ‘em! They probably wouldn’t have even had a career if they hadn’t come to Arsenal!

i hate players that said he want to leave because he want some trophy n not money.. So if u really want trophy why not arsenal sell nasri to scottish side rangers or celtic. There u will comfirmed earn trophy every year.. Also why u demanding some extra money if u want to stay..? If u just hate arsenal just said n dont make stupid excuses… Why steven gerard of liverpool never said he want to leave liverpool even not winning any trophy and not get champ league spot even. Thats u called loyalty n passion for the club no matter up n down

Best thing we can do now is sell fab & nas and reinvest the money. What’s the point in trying to keep players that don’t wanna be here anymore? We always find players and turn them into superstars we can survive without them. Mikel arteta? Gourcruff? (Lyon) felliani? Mata? … We will move on and find great players I’m not worried at all it’s just annoying now.

i think arsenal should buy gary cahill, enrique or baines, gervinho, ricky alvarez and m’villa or vertonghen(play him as DM or sometimes as CB) and sell almunia, squillaci, denilson, diaby, bendter and also fabregas

    I hope his injuries “back”…

He just play how many games for Arsenal. He forget Arsenal give him a chance? He can perform “well” last year cause he already free from his injury right?…

    Oke then.. Sell him !

Good luck with your new club !

  6. S.H says:

    @ French Fries

No! Alvarez has NOT signed with Inter, only an offer was made by Inter which is believed to be worth more than Arsenal’s. Please don’t reveal false information if you don’t know what’s going on. Alvarez’s preferred destination is Arsenal as quoted on twitter. This is probably causing the hold up as Alvarez is probably getting pushed by his club to go with the bigger offer for their benefit.

Valbuena is a great signing although he is only 5’7 tall, he has a great array of ball skills and passing. His possession of the ball is what I admire. He would be a nightmare for opponents. Then again Wenger is after more height and Alvarez would probably fit the bill better than Valbuena.

All the rumours of players we’ve heard so far for the past 2 months will arise again as news of Valbuena has. Wenger is very busy behind the scenes and Arsenal are probably looking at someone we don’t know about. Expect names like Baines, Vertonghen, Stekelenberg, to return to the newspapers.

Wenger definitely got us guessing, but i believe Gervinho and Cahill signings will be completed soon. Maybe this week!

Goodbye Prince Nas. Its a shame that you only claimed to be loyal when in fact you don’t know what loyalty entails. Its time Wenger wakes up and do more to make this players regret leaving arsenal. Else, in a year from now Sagna will throw in the towel too. If nas, fab and clichy go, not making marquee signings (at least 3) will be wenger’s biggest undoing.

  8. arsenal4eva says:

@mabus completely agree with you. It’s all about the money. The trophy shit that the players talk about is just an alibi. Samir Nasri is not irreplaceable. The strange thing is he’s never an an extraordinary season. Last season what probably spurred him on was that fact that he was not included for the World Cup. That kept him going for about half the season. The second half of the season he was the same average player that he has been the seasons prior to the one that just concluded. As far as Clichy is concerned, his motive to leave the club is clearly money. Why else would anyone join Liverpool or City. Your odds of winning trophies is as good there as it is at Arsenal.

funny how players don’t ever blame them selfs for,the club not winning trophys, funny how it every body elses fault, that,a club fails to win silverwear, newver thiers, yet they expect more money if they stay, or demand more money from thier next club,(and silverwear) if they move, yet it not about the money lol, yeah right pull the other one nasri.
adeybour leave’t because he wanted to win trophys(whats he won?) yet he can’t leave man city because he won’t take a pay cut lol all sounds rather like double standards to me from these so called football stars.
if players like nasri, cesc, and greedybyour want win trophys, maybe they should try a bit harder, when they play just like adams and parlour and wright did those players gave 110% and more, what do nasri and cesc, give besides bullshit and fake injuries when things not going right? i tell you “excuses”

Why is every one blaming nasri and all these other players, even as a fan I’m equally considering my options..you have to spend money to get money and in arsenal’s case both trophies and money, look at man united, that’s how u know a serious team, even after winning the title, they’ve already bought players worth close to 50m and all I hear is arsenal is linked with this and that player yet nobody has been signed, now walcott and vanpersie want to leave to and who can blame them! Even hleb left and won a trophy in birmingham…lol

for 20 million, I think we should sell. That said, i doubt Arsenal will receive such an offer (I guess I don’t believe the rumors). And if they don’t, I hope he stays.

His attitude is shite, though. Not every footballer says I will leave because we haven’t won any trophies. If he was a real winner, he would be a leader on the pitch and show on the field that winning is all that matters to him. i didn’t see that from him.

I am also very skeptical that he would go to Man U to challenge himself and win trophies. If he wants the challenge and to win, shouldn’t he take it on himself to become the leader that Arsenal clearly lacks?

Steven Gerrard has one the UEFA Cup, The FA Cup x 2, The Champions League and the Carling Cup – every honour in club football bar the league.

Xavi is 32 at the end of this year, Fabregas goes to play in Keita’s place and to rotate with Xavi, he would see plenty of game time over a 60 game season. He might also not be rushed back when injured, played when unfit and actually extend his career by playing a bit less.

Fabregas will not go down hill if he goes to Barca.

Some of you need to grow up.

You should be asking, how come when Fabregas came he came to play with Henry, Viera, Bergkamp, Pires and was excited by the idea of Arsenal and yet by the time he was 21, he was the senior member of the squad, expected to bring the youngsters through and no longer with the same caliber of experienced great players around him?

    Too much expectation, too young.

Arsene must take his share of the blame, so must the board. Yelling at the players who have lost faith in a project, just as a lot of fans have, will do no good.

What we need now is Wenger to stop being so stubborn, he has said he enjoys a freedon few managers do to follow his philosophy – well the philosophy is flawed and players won’t sacrifice their careers, which are short, to a stubborn’s man flawed vision forever.

Let me open with i am 100% sure Nasri will stay. He wants to win trophies .. Fair enough. So to does any player its not an excuse.
Your forgetting we have a pretty impeccable set of Backroom Boys who if they play there cards right this next month and along with the wizard that is Wenger, should and will open up his checkbook this July and sign one or two players that will keep our boys feet grounded.
Let me put it this way. We have made no “serious” signings so far .. if you ask any of the first team after the close run we had last season how they feel, what there thinking and if there staying, this early on …. inevitably there going to reply to the media with Jargon and Malarky like this. MEDIA … what are you gunna do?
Wenger, shouldn’t be taking any abuse whatsoever. I know we hate the fact that our rivals are building squads. But we are not in there position, were a different team with a different set up and different issues. It Takes Time!
Mark my words :D … July will be eventful, we’ll Keep Nasri .. Clichy’s gone, Fabulous Fab can leave with my blessing i wish him the best at Barca.

IT’S TIME FOR THE FANS TO STAND UP!!! Obviously the players have lost faith with the club and have lost faith with AW. Really its time Arsenal found a new manager, as a fan I can’t see AW bringing about massive changes either than selling players when they peek. No established payers wants to come to Arsenal because its a club that develops young talents, once AW goes so will the philosophy which got us the drought for 6 years. Arsenal is no small club we should be at the top its the drought that effected this club and its ambitions, the only person who has to take the blame is AW, its time he moved on!!!! Just like no players is bigger than the club no manager is bigger than the club!!!!!!!

The board felt that making profit is enough to be considered as success. While AW was only focusing to save every single penny on buying and offering contract, he prefer his native country when he want to get someone and give a short term contract when any contract-expiring player reaches 30s. I don’t understand why every transfer involving more than 10 mil for Arsenal were always conclude very late. Wenger’s transfer, salaries and contract policies could be the most reason why the players were unhappy. I’m become frustrated with Wenger.

    NASRI IS RIGHT!

We all know that FABREGAS and CLICHY will go this season.

We know from previous seasons that Wenger will not reinvest the sale proceeds to strengthen the squad. Instead, he will buy someone on the cheap, someone with potential but not the final product. Why would good players keep working their butts off when they see hypocrisy around them in the form of Almunia, Fabianski, Denilson, Diaby, Eboue, Squallici etc, and a manager that refuses to address the known weaknesses of the team since 3 years now!

Nasri is pulling wool over our eyes with this silverware rather than money stance of his. When our side struggled towards the end of last season, I really expected Cesc, Nasri, Arshavin and the other members of the elite clique to put their heads together and lead by example. No, they went through their paces as normal and some even took their feet off the pedal like quitters do.I’m just not taken in by this claptrap from Nasri, be it fact or fiction. We can do with more RVP’s and JackW’s. I bet we’ll still challenge, even without the Cescs and Nasris. Our solution is to find more JackW’s and RVP’s. Go well my beloved Arsenal!

Why would an average and overrated player like Nasri start dictating to his employers. Arsenal has been linked with more than 6 players in his favourite position who are much more better than him.
I am surprised that someone is comparing us to Man. United who are spending the money they don’t really have. Buying players at this time of the transfer window to me does not really make sense. Copa America is still on, and there are bound to be more revelations in terms of great footballing talents from that axis. The transfer market has generally been dull Man City with all the money they have are stuck with high earning 6-7 players which they have to offload. For that reason they are yet to splash. Same with Real Madrid. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Benzema ends up in Arsenal at the end of the day like Sneider (Now worth £35million) ended up in Inter and Van der Vaart in Spuds in cut throat deals. Arsenal will always come better and stronger irrespective of who leaves or stays. Nasri, a 2 face turncoat, worse than Gallas, will be flogged out if he doesn’t sign no doubt.
Money is NOT the issue? Well he can say that to the marines

If this is true, and not all about the money as first though, Nasri is spot on. You come to big clubs because you have tallent, you go to those clubs to win trophies every season. No trophies + good tallent = a feeder club, and thats exactly whats about to happen.

No doubt Wenger took Nasri aside last season and gave him the “we’ll win next year” speech, like he did with Fab. I think the reason he told the team they’ll be very active this transfer season is to keep their interest after he failed to deliver. Lets hope he can land a few big signings to keep our star players interested. Who would leave if a flurry of tallent appeared at the door? Not a bunch of teenagers they’ll have to mentor and look after. Last chance I think Wenger.

If AFC is really serious about winning some form of silver-ware, then it’s about time they do what’s right by strengthening the squad with the potential to compete, and win.
If Nasri really meant what he said about winning, then he should be applauded. After all getting hold of silver-ware is what the average gunner is craving for, is n’t it?
It’s not a bad thing if good players want AFC to show an intent of purpose to win silver-ware, before they commit to long term contracts.

Today it’s Nasri,Cesc,Clichy,Bender etc. The way things are going,RvP,Sagna and Wilshire may want to go next season, just becos AW is talking more like the club’s financial director rather than the coach. The team’s moral is low and as usual,AS will continue to drag his feet, looking for the cheap articles until he loses out on the good ones. Don’t want to sound like a prophet of doom, but next season will be worse than the season just ended and we’ll told once again to be patient. Arsenal can never again win anything under AW.
