Nicklas Bendtner – “My Time At Arsenal Has Been Fantastic”

Posted on September 02, 2011 by admin

Nicklas Bendtner was linked with more clubs than Jack Nicklaus over the summer months with moves to Portugal and Germany being mentioned at one point. There were also strong indications that a move to Stoke City or Everton was being lined up, but none of that materialised and the Danish striker eventually got his move and has ended up at Sunderland on a season long loan deal.

Bendtner has been speaking about his time at Arsenal and has nothing but good to say, (Samir Nasri take note), despite his obvious displeasure at being omitted by Arsene Wenger.

He said, “My time at Arsenal has been Fantastic, but I want to be starting the big games, every players does.”

Bendtner will be joining up with Steve Bruce again, after the pair previously worked together at Birmingham City. Bendtner was not every-bodies favourite player at the Emirates, but a permanent move to Sunderland may well benefit him and Arsenal in the long term. We will have to wait and see what develops.

“I will never go back to Arsenal,” he is quoted as saying in The Sun. “If I can have it my way, I will never play for them again.

“After my car accident I never really got the chance to earn a spot in the first team. That is over one and a half years with no real chance to prove myself.

“I am really looking forward to playing for Sunderland and then we will see next summer. I will find a new club – but I will not go back to Arsenal, that’s for sure.”

And we hope to never see you again too!

Never thought I would say this but big up Bendtner.
Another person who is leaving his club with some nice things to say ( are you still listening Samri Nasri?)
We all need to remember, spending millions and bringing in big names is not always to way. 2 Arsenal examples:
Wiltord. Came with a rep, left a flop.
Henry. Came as a nobody, left a legend.
As Stan Lee would say, ‘Nuff said’.

Opinions divided. What do you think? Thumb up 12 Thumb down 6

I think there have been alot of not needed comments with regards to the big dane.
Yes, I agree, he has been very inconsisstent with his performances and hasnt really been able to deliver what is required…
    BUT -
We are all Gooners and since when do we true Gooners ever forsake our Gunners?
He has never refused to play for us nor has he ever bad mouthed us.
Yes he is upset but it only shows his determination to want to play.
He isn’t ready to be starting games for us yet but maybe this loan deal will help develop him.
Maybe he can come back in the future a very experienced and good Striker.
He is a big lad and is quality in the air – Something we lack.

Have a look at the below video, it’ll put a smile on your face :)

He’s not great but he is a Gunner.

moe shah, nice video. i forgot about some of those goals. he did get some clutch points for us a few times over the last couple seasons. still, though, overall his quality needs to get better. he’s got a terrible first touch and who we have now up front can only be a vast improvement…

  8. ac says:

I think the best thing about Bendtner leaving is that we now have -1 striker and +2 forward.

IIRC, there was a game against Chelsea where we were playing 4 strikers at the end (RvP, Bendtner, Chamakh, JET). We couldn’t create any chance, as Nasri had to play DM.

Frankly, I don’t quite understand this “if losing, bring in more strikers” mentality of Wenger. Keep passing the ball!

  9. Gunz blazin says:

i think he was played to much out of position, he should have been given more time up front to prove himself, he has potential and height and a good shot, in the box he would cause many problems. its a pity.

All I can say is Thank you Bendtner for all those last minute goals in your time at Arsenal.

He has scored some really crucial goals for us in the past.

A pity he trailed off into oblivion…

Wish him the best of luck!

@Runtinx… Bendtner gave us some good goals. He is no Henry but given a regular run ( not on the wings but in CF ) bendtner will score a bit more. May be not 30 goals a season but will give you 14 at least at just 23, he will be better. A loan deal is the best for Arsenal as the dane will improve.

well done bentdner, all credit to you, you could have gone and whinged moaned and threw everything at arsenal including the boards abhorent 1980′s style transfer policy, good luck at sunderland!! i think if the new transfers dont work out i think as supporters we should take it out on the board and demand the removal of kroenke and garzidis and the old fart members on the board, they have stopped wenger from buying top class players due to their arrogant approach and 1980′s style transfer policy approach still believing footballers are on the miimum wage, we need usamonov and david dein back, at leats they will know how to run this club, and that is the need for success, the board where intent of selling our best players, and left wenger well just watch the man utd game, now thye have gone out on a panic buy, this heirachy needs to go with kroenke back on the next flight to america, they have destroyed what wenger has tried to build and they have destroyed the moral among the players, but they have destroyed the strength of our team, i am not convinced buy our purchases, but time will tell. but well done again bentdner!!

Good luck B-52. I hope you do well at Sunderland.
I’m saying that because I do want you to try and prove yourself. At the same time, I think Arsenal is better off.
Good Luck. You did have some good games and you did make us cheer sometimes with some nice goals. Now, its time to move on, and please do pull a Nasri.

Bendtner is like Adebayor. All talk but with little results. Keeps asking to prove himself, but when the rubber hits the road, nothing, just excuses. That’s why we all love RVP – no excuses, just consistent goals when he isn’t injured. (which sucks when he is. Hopefully this is a season without that). I’m glad he’s gone.
Park scored a hatrick for his international against Lebanon. This guy hasn’t started playing yet, and I already like him. Think he may be the dark horse of the season. Might be the best buy if he is able to score in the EPL consistently. In any case, feeling a whole lot better about Arsenals standing post window.

    Go boys, make us proud!

FFS PEOPLE! Get off the guys back. Have you seen his goal scoring record? It’s not all that bad! He will score ATLEAST 15 goals for Sunderland, that is a fact. If there is anyone who should be getting it it’s Chamakh.

I’m fully aware this will get thumbed down btw. Don’t even care.

  17. Gunnersince15 says:

Bendtner had to go to another club as he was going nowhere in the Arsenal squad. I was really worried that we wouldn’t get him off the payroll. Quite frankly the asking price for him was too high and there was no one out there, prepared to pay that sort of money. Let’s wish him luck at Sunderland and who knows, he might do really well and clubs will fall over themselves to pay us £20million for him next summer. Unlikely but we can all live in hope.
