Now Wenger slams France over Diaby injury
The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has already loudly complained about the Netherlands’ cock-up regarding the injury to Robin Van Persie, and now he is blaming France for making Abou Diaby’s injury worse.
“Our players go away, they are injured.” said Wenger. “A player like Abou Diaby goes away and is injured, and you cannot even get him back because they decided to keep him.
“The French Federation decided to keep Diaby for political reasons. They knew he would never play, but they didn’t want to call another player up. The result? He comes back, the next day tries to have a run and gets a setback, and we have to deal with the consequences.”
Wenger also repeated that he wasn’t happy with the Netherlands behaviour regarding Van Persie, a move that has made it necessary for him to now buy another striker during the January transfer window.
“The tackle of Giorgio Chiellini on Van Persie is not as anonymous as it looks at the start,” said Wenger. “And we have not been told the truth by the Dutch Football Federation, which is a real regret. There’s a lot for us to cry about, but unfortunately again we have to deal with the situation and it’s a shame. It is really difficult to accept.”
It certainly does see to be that Arsenal ALWAYS suffer injuries when his players go on international duty, but what can be done about it?
Every player wants to be picked for their country, and they would kill to play in the World Cup Finals (except Roy Keane of course!) so it can’t be helped i suppose?
