It’s been a very difficult time as an Arsenal fan at the moment and it’ll be refreshing going into a game where you really have nothing to lose. We have already qualified for the second spot in the Champions’ league group. Usually that would be worrying but considering that the likes of Madrid/Juventus/PSG and so on are second, the last 16 will be very balanced.
We are expected to play our fringe players so our currently under performing star players get the rest that they apparently desperately need. Olympiacos won’t have much to play for and I wouldn’t expect as high an intensity game as we did last time round. However, our youngsters can’t underestimate the opponents and hopefully they won’t as they’ll be excited to display their talents in Europe’s biggest competition.

Akpom – Rosicky – Arshavin

It’s a good mix of experience and youngsters. It’s quite an unbalanced team and I don’t really know the actual squad list yet, but it’s a decent estimation of what we’ll see tomorrow and it’s a team I’d like Wenger to play.
We have Szczesny to keep some stability at the back but we don’t have anyone else because Damian Martinez is ineligible to play in the Champions League.
Jenkinson and Vermaelen will apparently travel as punishment for their failings against Swansea. It’s an interesting story but it seems more like we need some experience otherwise the score line could be embarrassing.
Ramsey and Chamberlain aren’t defensive at all but can be decent CM as well as learning how to discipline their attacking and defensive work rates.
Rosicky has finally returned and I cannot wait for him to finally make a bit of difference to this squad. He seems to understand what it is to play for Arsenal. Maybe he can give Santi a bit of rest as he physically looks wrecked unlike others who I think are just lazy.
Finally, we have Akpom (an up and coming youngster) as well as the experienced head of Arshavin. Gervinho has been absolutely atrocious in the last couple of games and needs to redeem himself. How he does that is still a mystery to me.
I think it’ll be a tight one and we might just squeeze a draw. 1-1.
Rosicky and archavin experienced creativity but y have we got coquelin in back. If your not going to use djorou or squillaci at least release squidi.

I don’t expect anything good to come out of tonight’s match, Am happy though that players such as Cazorla, Wilshere, Arteta, Giroud, Walcott etc has been given rest, they need it so badly. Arsenal will start performing good on Saturday, mark my words.

Meade looks very talented from what I’ve seen of him. Maybe the youngsters will show the hunger that the first team haven’t been showing lately

Constant negativity from all these fans. Have some faith and some damn patience. I’m literally getting sick of coming on this website. For those of you that don’t realise there are 19 other teams in the EPL. For the last what 10? 15? 20?! Years the FA cup and premier league has been dominated by the same 4-5 teams (Arsenal, Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea, recently Man City). Quite frankly I applaud the attitude of the fans from the other teams, they stick with their players and teams even though they’ve virtually fed on scraps of Europa league football or the prospect of a big day out at wembley. I don’t see them constantly throwing their toys out the pram like spoiled brats. Have some backbone and some faith!
Yes we should have beaten Swansea but we were pushing so hard for a win that we got caught out. Some times things go your way, sometimes they dont. A growing number of fans need to grow up and realise that we are lucky to have the players we have and particularly the manager! Everyone complaining about Wenger, we’ll all be sorry when he quits at the end of the season and walks into the Real Madrid job and comes back to give us a pasting in next seasons champions league! If you think Wenger’s lost it you are a fool! The man could quite easily walk into any job in world football, FACT!
Get behind the team and stop being so pathetic!

Eisfeld can’t play UCL yet, cause he isn’t confirmed as a homegrown player, so there is no free spot in the sheet for other foreigns player till the next round (next year) there will be another chance to line up new players…

Wenger is an absolute idiot. I can already see a problem in that lineup. Ramsey and Chamberlain can’t defend! I watched the Swansea game again last night, and the first goal was because Chamberlain left his man, that he WAS marking, unmarked! He allowed him to run into space on his own in the goal area. DOES WENGER NOT WATCH RERUNS OF THE GAMES TO SEE WHERE THE WEAKNESSES ARE!!?? We will never win anything under this man again. He must leave our club and get someone in who knows that they are doing!

@L How on earth can you look at the number of text book mistakes Wenger has made over the past few seasons and say he is still the man for the job? Players have been played out of position. FACT. Certain players are just not good enough for challenging for titles. FACT. Who bought all the dead wood players in the first place? Wenger. FACT. Who makes irrational in game decisions and subs – like when he played Santos a full game against United, or when he subbed Giroud for Coquelin when we needed a win? Wenger has made so many stupid decisions that every tom dick and harry, including commentators and other clubs fans were aware of before he even made them. Then we have all the lies that have come out of his mouth. He still said two seasons ago that they would have no ambition if they sold Fab and Nasri. Well I guess he was actually telling the truth there, because we don’t have ambition! They were sold. RvP – saviour last season and top goal scorer. Wenger again stated we would not sell him. We end up selling him to freakin Man United of all teams. in 2007 he promised a new burst of talent to come through the ranks that would dominate once again. All those players have been sold!
Time for you to stop holding onto the past mate and start realizing Wenger’s philosophy has died. Every team knows how to beat Arsenal because Wenger is too stubborn and too set in his ways to change it.

@BIG GUN: I salute you, at times when you see Wenger’s teal selection you begin to wonder if the man has suddenly gone insane or what..and L is busily supporting him. If he’s that good now why don’t he just quick our dear club and look for job else where he would be provided with all the money and the big players that he need to win trophies to prove to us that he’s still a top manager who knows what he’s doing?..Wenger should just leave before he send our dear Arsenal to the bottom 3 or to relegation..

@Big Gun you make a lot of sense. When wenger talks, you hear the words of a man who knows he will never get fired. So he says and does whatever he wants. He has job security. What can anybody do about it? Nothing. Frankly, if you gave wenger all the money in the world, I don’t expect him to win anything. Do you know why? Because we have bigger problems now. Wenger plays these boys out of position, he plays unfit players like Santos and Ramsey while benching Walcot-our best player. Wenger cannot motivate his players and makes his substitutions just a few minutes before the game ends, by which time it is too late for the sub to make a difference.
Besides, if you make him a good enough offer, wenger will sell his best players and throw in his mother as a sweetener without even thinking twice because with him, it is all about money. Everything is about money. These guys don’t give a sh1t about football. What football? You tell wenger that we have not won a trophy in seven years and he reminds you of our balance sheet. You tell him that our performances on the pitch are in decline and he will tell you about our bank balance. You tell wenger that as it stands, we are likely not to qualify for champions league and he tells you that the club is financially healthy enough to survive without it. Tell wenger that Ramsey is not good enough and he will tell you that Gotze will cost 32 million. Who said anything about Goetze? How much did Swansea pay for Michu and Pablo Henandez? With wenger and gazidis every thing is measured in monetary terms.
They are so obsessed with money to the point that they no longer make sense. They actually see more sense in paying Arshavin and Squillaci to seat on the bench rather than buying Diame for 6.5 million pounds. They would rather sell Theo walcot, our highest goal scorer and buy Wilfred Zaha, an unproven kid who has only scored four goals this season in the championship, just so that they don’t pay walcot what he deserves. Money money money. These guys are stupid and think they are geniuses. Genius is what Swansea and Westbrom are doing. Arsenal sold their soul long ago and all they got in return was money. That’s all the y talk about. They don’t care about football. Just listen to them.

spot on with most of your comments Uche, but then you go and say Walcott is our best player? i’m sorry thats just ridiculous. theo walcott miraculously has scored a few goals this season but his touch and finishing is average at best. he’s got a bit of pace which makes him an ok winger. did you see him against swansea? his corners were a joke, every single one was either too low or too far past the goals. we dont need him and we should sell him, Arshavin, podolski, Rosicky, Gervinho (also a poor player) Eisfield, the Ox… we have loads of players who can play on the wings. Walcott isnt good enough to be played as a central striker in my opinion, should be sold.
