Omar: Why Arsenal need Scott Parker or Joey Barton…..

I have previously spoken about Arsenal needing to stiffen up their defense by buying Cahill and Samba. Well when I speak about these players adding steel to the team, I don’t only mean it physically but mentally too. When you come to think about it, when Arsenal are two nil down before half time, who will each player be fearing to face in the changing room? No one! This Arsenal team is way too nice, way too laidback. That is wrong. Arsenal need that player that will be in each and every other player’s mind.
Look at the top teams. Man Utd have countless names. Sir Alex, Vidic, Ferdinand, Rooney and of course Neville and Scholes before they retired. Chelsea have got Terry, Lampard, Drogba and Essien. Liverpool have got Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher.
But in Arsenal who will be the player to fill that role? Is it Cesc? I doubt it. Is it RVP? Well he’s passionate and extremely loyal, but harmless. Is it Nasri? I won’t even answer that. The only player that would remotely fit that bill would be Vermaelen. He is a very strong character, but it is said that he is not much of a speaker. Not the kind of player that would tell you off. Jack Wilshere would also fit the bill, but he still needs a couple of years.
Arsenal need vocal players. That is why they need Joey Barton or Scott Parker. We all know how Parker made the West Ham players cry when they were 3-0 down against West Brom at half time. And guess how that match ended? Yes you guessed it, 3-3. What player would do that for Arsenal in this current squad? None. It hurts to bring this up, but Barton had a big role in the 4-4 comeback against us. Not just because he scored 2 penalties, but he pushed the team forward.
We need the players such as Samba and Cahill to shout and make the Arsenal players fight for their lives. We need the Scott Parkers and the Joey Bartons to push our players forward and to make them want to win every match like it’s a final. With Wenger protecting them every time they lose, they will never have anything to worry about. The fear factor will never live within them.

I think Barton is a better passer (definitely better than diaby, rosicky, bendtner and denilson). If you saw Parker in his last game for England; i don’t think he fits in the quick passing game that we play.

I agree, we need players that will be vocal, passionate and can lead the side!!! That said, I dont think either Parker or Barton would suit Arsenal’s style.

ts time to change the style that some of us have been brainwashed with.winning ugly and having players who are aggressive wil bring our glory days back.i agree with Omar having Parker nd Barton in th team wil be a huge bonus.or clowns ther is ths other Black with a never die spirit who broke our hearts at St James his name is Cheik Tiote. hey gyz Arsenal need to strong their reserve bench……..half of the season few player comes down automatically that time i think these players can push the to up. Barton and Parker both are experiences they know how to handle the pressure.They can give the proper rest to the few first team player. But Wenger should purchase a Classical player like Riquelme or Aimar because they are playmaker. They are gone but need that type of player.Febragas can move any time, Arsen Wenger shouldm look at this.

Don’t thnk we will get any of the players we want.AW is in a mess,can’t sell any of his overpaid clowns.not even the self proclaimed great Nick can find a suitor.we need to trim th squad first then add quality.I hear Rosicky wants to stay,maybe to play in th B team but stil enjoying his high wages.Eboue,Almunia,Squillaci,Bendtner,Denilson ,Rosicky should move away so AW can have a fat account to add quality players.

sokeye, I agree with u 2 but u r wrong somewhere,, Barton aint a better passer than Rosicky, but he definately fits the bill and description perfectly- he iz redeeming himself and coming 2 arsenal would put some pressure on him 2 perform n and not screw up!!

Parker would add great experience and fight in the team. Holding midfielders do not need pace, look at Diarra at real, Makelele at chelsea, Marscerano, Emmanuel Pettit, Xabi Alonso.. I can go on and on. Holding midfielders need heart, good passing range, excellent timing and a good football brain. Shooting from range is a bonus! We need Parker, not Barton.. he’s an @$$

Well we had that sort of leadership in Gallas and it didn’t work as there must be some whinging soft cocks within the team. Fab, Nasri, Walcott, RVP are all in a group of their own when it comes to friendships within the team. They are our best players and when this is probably why they are close. Gallas was a leader who demanded results which Fab and Nasri didn’t like. Fab is a leader by example not a true leader that tells his friends where they go wrong. A great leader has the moral courage to say no when they need to and then lead by example. This is what Arsenal requires, not a couple of rough neck tacklers who can break anyone’s leg anytime.
Scott parker is 30. How long will we keep him at Arsenal? 1 year maybe 2? Come on Scott Parker fans wake up to yourself and smell Wenger’s coffee. You don’t buy a player to play for a year or two, especially when this summer will be the hottest transfer window in a long time due to the financial fair play rules enforced as of next year. Teams are looking to buy BIG and as many quality players as they can before next year when every team under UEFA can only spend what the club earns. So Chelsea and Man City will buy players worth over 30-40M, just wait and see. This is why they’ve been quiet and so have we. If Parker is employed I won’t disagree with the move as I do think he’ll be good to the team, but how long will he be good for? Better off to invest in younger, faster, stronger players who are technically more gifted. So what if Parker does well for Arsenal next year or the year after? We’ll have to sell him later and then integrate a new midfield player in that role when he goes.
Better to have a guy in that will be with us for a while like Fabregas was. Remember the team was built around Fab. Can’t imagine the team built around Parker. He might tackle but he’s no gifted passer!
As for Barton, he is a cheap buy and this is why Wenger wants him. I think he’s value for money but I just can’t support Barton in an Arsenal shirt. TRUE GUNNERS JUST HATE HIM! Besides, we have the financial means to buy world class midfielders in Vidal or Mata although i believe none of these 2 top midfielders will arrive. We’ll most likely get Alvarez.
So bloody wake up to yourselves Parker and Barton fans. Arsenal needs world class quality and a serious rebuild of the team, not players that will supposedly make a difference for one or 2 years then they’ve reached their expiry dates.
Let’s just say we win a trophy with barton and parker in the team. When they leave in the near future what happens then to the team? Yes that’s right, we’ll have to rebuild again. Aren’t you guys sick of Arsenal rebuilding all the time? We’ve been doing it for 6 yrs! Let’s just finish the rebuilding part first then worry about trophies!

PARKER would be the ideal signing for us, not a better holding midfielder in the country, well for the last few years anyway.
Does make me laugh when people say he has NO speed and cant pass, I take it none of you who say that have ever watched him play, if you have and still say that, i doubt your knowledge of the game, he has been West Hams player of the season for the past 3 years and was newcastles for the 2 years he was there and at Chelsea (short time I no) he won the PFA young player of the season and to top it off he won the Sports writers this year being in a team that finished bottom.
Capello has finally realised the class act he is and none of us no what the tactics was for the last England game, could it have been to mop up and give the ball to Wilshere!!!! He did what he was told i assume, he played the 90 mins so Capello must have been impressed.
Wenger wont sign him because its to much of a gamble, like all his signings he tries to buy himself time and say they are for the future, well we wont have a future if we well our best players and replace them with people who we havnt heard of and hope they turn out ok!
Parker would be the perfect signing for us, and I guarntee all you doubters will eat your words if he ever turned out at the emeriates and Played for us, pure class on and off the field.

Out – Rosicky Fabregas Eastmond Denilson Diaby Nasri
In – Chamberlain Barton Parker Vieira Mata Alvarez
Vieira player coach for a year, Parker we will get 2-3 years from and Barton 4. This will allow the likes of Coquelin, Frimpong, Aneke, Toral to integrate gradually.

Arsenal shuld buy BOTH Barton and Parker,with our outrageaous bad luck with injuries and an incompetent Medical Team,that can neither properly Diagnose or treat injuries,one of them is bound to be spending a lot of time in the Arsenal Cottage Hospital.Barton would be absoloutely PERFECT for us,some fellow Gooners complain about his ‘Attitude Problem’,Gooners that is exactly what we are crying out for,someone with an AGGRESIVE ATTITUDE PROBLEM !!!.How many times have we MEEKLY surrendered winning positions,Barton definitely would not stand meekly by and let it happen.Sure he would ruffle the Feathers of established First Team Regulars,Great,Wonderful,bring it on,shake them out of their smug complaceny.If Fab and Nasri go,and personally i hope they do,then Wilshire Ramsey are going to need some brave tough Players alongside them,to stop other teams ‘Bullying’ them out of Games.Go and get Barton first,then Parker,NOW!!!

Parker is class. He’s better than Barton as he has a better attitude and would fit in much better with the Arsenal side. Hes a leader, the best holding midfield player in the country, can pass, score, drive teams back! Arsenal need this guy. And hes only 7 million!! Get rid of Fabregas, Song and clichy. Bring in Alverez, Parker and Baines.
THE ONLY REASON NASRI ( AND NOW RVP ) WANT TO LEAVE IS BECAUSE OF ARSENAL LOOKING LIKE THEY WILL LOSE THERE BEST PLAYERS! Nasri will stay if Arsenal buy up some class. Cahill, Samba, Baines, Alvarez, Parker, Gervinho, Chamberlain. If Arsenal pull there finger out and get those players Nasri and RVP will not want to leave and Fabregas leaving wont matter and you will win some trophies!
Baines, Samba, Cahill and Parker are some of the best defensive players in the league, your saggy defense would be solved.
