Oxlade-Chamberlain is gonna be a Gunner!
The never-ending saga of Arsene Wenger’s pursuit of the Southampton starlet Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has finally come to an end.
The Daily Mirror has revealed today that Arsenal have finished negotiating with the Southampton board and Chamberlain has agreed personal terms to continue his education at the Emirates.
The 17 year-old, according to the Mirror, will be announced as an Arsenal player as soon as the transfer window officially opens on the 1st of July, and his father, Mark Chamberlain, has finally got his wish to see his son move to the Gunners.
He said: “Considering where he was at the beginning of the season and end of last season, to have the clubs we’ve been hearing about looking at him, he’s made great strides.
“But watching him and watching his performances I think it’s well deserved.
“He’s only going to get better. A lot of people speak to me and say, ‘Maybe it’s too soon – look at Theo.’ But for me, I think Theo’s doing fantastic, he’s developing as a player, he’s still developing and he’s only young.
“To develop at a place like Arsenal can’t be a bad thing. In my eyes, I’d like him to go there as soon as possible, and continue his development.”
So he has got his wish, allegedly, and it has been reported that the fee was finalized at £12m.
And as much as Wenger has admitted that he needs to buy tall players with maturity and experience, it has been confirmed that he has signed a 17 year-old and a 19 year-old, not to mention the two Barcelona kids…..!

Anything reported by a tabloid should be taken with a pinch of salt.
This transfer window is going to get hectic and you dont want to get all excited every time a blog or a tabloid said a deal as signed. If the Daily Mirror is accurate we would have had a team full of stars and be Champions League winners with the amount of players the tabloid believed we signed.
So…calm down and wait for word from HQ before you open the champagne!

C’mon. At Arsenal, 19 is first team football. Remember Clichy, Fabregas, Wilshere, Bendtner, Chezzer, Theo … nah, Alex the Ox-slave is not for the future – and deffo not at 12 million. The manager doesn’t buy and some of the fans hate him. The manager does buy and those same fans hate him. I agree that it’s too much money for a teenager but if, as Wenger says, the money will always be avaialble if he wants a player then this does not effect money available for other transfers. If that is the case no reason to complain. If this means we’ll miss out on a player for the senior squad i have big doubts about whether it’s good business. We know that it’d cost 25m for Hazard and 16m for Cahill. If those funds are no longer available it’s a terrible mistake but i don’t think that’s the case. Why all the hating on Theo ? He was brilliant for periods of last season and unlike Nasri he is a true professional. Also i bet those are the same fans calling for more English players in the squad.

Wenger will never stop amazing me. I thought he would have learnt his lesson. After completed six seasons this his style of starlets and kids did not bear any fruit yet he does not want to change that style. For me i’m not surprise to hear that he signed Jenkinson and Chamberlain because i said it earlier that he is going to end up in signing those like Chamakh.

I trust Wenger this summer transfer window, he has secured 2 Barcelona youngsters for our academy, Jenkinson and Alex O-C look like fantastic prospects for the future. He will sell Almunia, Bendntner, Denilson, Clichy and Diaby and replace them all with better players I am sure of it. Gervinho is apprently a deal almost done, as is Ricky Alvarez. I am confident he will bring in a top CB, defensive midfielder and (hopefully) a goal poaching striker since he has even refused to rule out Benzema and Falcao.
The fact that Wenger offered 18m for Phil Jones is proof enough that he is planning to spend money this summer!!!

However I feel this will be completely ratified once Bendtner is shipped off for good to Betiska for the same amount as it would cost us to have Oxlade!
