Vieira to Chelsea - No way!
There is a very strange rumour going around that Patrick Vieira is being considered by Carlo Ancelotti as cover during the African Nations Cup. Caughtoffside reported it like this.
Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Vieira could finally be set to seal his return to London, but surprisingly with Chelsea, according to reports.
The 33-year-old Frenchman – who made more than 250 league appearances and won three Premier League titles and four FA Cups during his time at Arsenal – was linked with a return to Arsene Wenger’s side along with Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer.
However, a move to either failed to materialise, with the midfielder opting to stay at the San Siro and fight for his place in Jose Mourinho’s side.
It seems that Vieira was seen at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and the papers have decided to turn that into a possibility that Chelsea are going to take him in January. With Mikel, Kalou, Drogba and Essien booked to go to the African Nations Cup, it is assumed that Chelsea will be short of personnel to cover while they are away.
Hasn’t anyone told the press that Chelsea are BANNED from registering any new players? They may get it reduced on appeal but there is no way it will be rescinded completely so that they can sign people in January.
I’m not sure if i could imagine a more ridiculous possibility!
Sky, Caughtoffside reports, has said that Vieira was simply at the Chelsea game because he arrived too late to watch the Arsenal match on Sunday, but i can’t find any reference to that on the Sky Football page either.
So i am going to put this crazy rumour down to a bad case of nothing-to-write-about-so-lets-make-up-a-story syndrome!
