Peter Hill-Wood Speaks About Wenger And Fabregas
The Arsenal board have come in for their fair share of criticism lately, especially when it comes down the the clubs business in the recent transfer market. It is not often that we hear from the Chairman, but he has been speaking to the Daily Star about the events of the last few weeks.
First of all Hill-Wood spoke about Arsene Wenger who has himself come in for some strong criticism and in some quarters there have been calls for him to be sacked. Hill-Wood said, “It’s complete and utter rubbish and absolute nonsense. I think he is happy and we are happy enough.”
Hill-Wood then went on to talk about the clubs recent activity in the transfer market. He said, “We have brought some new players in and although I don’t know that much about them I think, generally speaking, they are going to improve the squad.”
He finished off by talking about Cesc Fabregas and his move back to Barcelona. The Barcelona Chairman has recently said that Fabregas was bought on the cheap and Hill-Wood replied by saying, “He is absolutely right they did get him on the cheap, but he wanted to go back there and we respected that.”
I don’t know about you guys, but it worries me when Chairman of football clubs start talking about the manager. I hope that wasn’t a dreaded vote of confidence. It also worries me that he doesn’t know much about the new players that have been brought to the club!
It is good that Mr Hill-Wood has been speaking openly and honestly, but perhaps he should be talking to certain financial backers and others in the boardroom and persuading them to get the cheque book out ready for January and get us that midfielder we are crying out for!

I don’t associate PHW with honesty these days. After all he hasn’t been sincere about the transfer policy. It is now clear that Wenger identified so many players during the last few months only the board to drag their feet. PHW is not modern and proactive anymore and hopefully he will step down soon – his replacement will be like a new signing for the club!

As far as I’m concerned it is the board that is the problem, not Arsene. Wenger is there to be successful with the resources we have; yes we have money, but if Wenger is advised to watch his spending, then what can he do? It’s not his fault that the owners are tighter than a crab’s a***hole! The sooner we have a take over from a generous benefactor the better.
As for losing Wenger it is definitely something I wouldn’t want to see, I couldn’t think of a manager who could come in and replace him. A new manager would either be a catastrophe or a positive turning point. Personally, I’m team Wenger. IAWT.

this gentleman has overseen the transition of our club and along with the late danny fiszman has marshalled the move to the emirates
he isn’t a media hungry man and decided to come out with his thoughts in an attempt to back his under-fire manager…
usually this role is taken by c.e.o. ivan gazidis
just because a director has a low profile dosen’t mean he is not working in the best interests of the club

The board and Wenger both need to take a long hard look at themselves and be honest about their failings.

The facts of the matter as I see it are that this board is dishonest and not to be trusted. For the past 3 or 4 years they have consistently told us there is money available for transfers. However if you look at the figures, published in last weeks sunday times, in 3 out of the last 5 years we have made a profit from transfers and over the 5 year period as a whole, the net profit is approx plus £45 million pounds. I find it hard to believe that the manager would have voluntarily chosen to allow the squad to be weakened in the name of profit, over this period, if he actually had funds to spend.

I have a bad taste after reading this… The man seems to have no devotion to the club, and if the rest of the board is just the same, Arsene must be the only one to care and imply himself. I’m affraid that the days of Mr Wenger in Arsenal are counted with such an ill-qualified board. Hope not.

i know this is a stupid pointless post by myself and i wish i could write in spanish on a barca forum , SO NO SANDRO ROSELL [thats the president rat at fc barcelona] you didnt get fabregas on the cheap , you actually paid a fortune for him 34 million infact . beings that you let him slip out of ur accademy we had him for free the joke is well and truly on you , and mark my words there will be time in the future you will try and poach another player off us , as u always come sniffing about for our best players , so im sure the next transfer negotiation between arsenal and barca we will have the last laugh.

i think both board and AW get commissions and bonuses related to financial performance and not trophies that’s why we are where we are

PHW knows nothing at all at what Arsenal fans really wants. He said, “We have brought some new players in and although I don’t know that much about them I think, generally speaking, they are going to improve the squad.” Either he is in his world with any media exposure, or he’s simply busy counting money in his room.

you’re obviously not from a managerial background. good managers don’t trivialise themselves in small details like the players the club buys. managers look at the big picture like running the club. that’s why he has Wenger to know about players.

They are all a bunch of wankers. It is sad that the business side of AFC has devoured and muted the clubs passion to bring in quality players and win trophies. The fact is, we had a small fortune (by that I mean 80m+) before we had even sold Fab and Samir, to splash out into the transfer window. It never got spent properly, even after it closed, we still have a fortune that has gone where?? exactly. It makes me even more upset that Man United had less to spend and look at the quality they bought, and more importantly the timing those players were transferred into their club. So the board are putting their own club to shame, and Arsene (although he has made a few blunders to be brutally honest) has been taking all the heat.
Our club has such great potential to be champions again, it is just that the board have AW like a puppet on strings…if they would just give him more freedom financially and when to spend those finances, we would have players like Hazard, M’vila already. To be honest as fans, we do not REALLY know what goes on behind the scenes there at AFC concerning the board, manager etc. The proof is in the pudding though and someone has to come clean and tell us why things have gone pear shaped.

I read wat PHW said and was filled wth UTTER DISGUST!How can a Chairman of any establismnt NOT HV AN IDEA OR EVN EDUCATE HIMSELF on de ONE most impt AIM of his establishmnt, wch in ds case is PURELY WINNING like IN ALL SPORTS(by acquisitn of talents)!. Surely evn he shld be aware dat wth CONSISTNT SUCCESS comes de MONEY he so dearly worships(as Sir Alex has provn over n over). We hv always known PHW & Co are SIMPLY GREEDY Ass-holes whose only concern is the Financial gains instead of wins & Trophys, but I still thnk Wenger also have a blame here, and dat is ds Issue of playn along wth dem IN ALL DS YRS!I SINCERELY BLV DAT IF WENGER WILL START THREATN DS GREEDY BUNCH WTH RESIGNATN IF DEY DONT MEET HIS TRANSFER & OTHER BUDGETERY REQUESTS dey’ll start TAKN HIM MORE SERIOUSLY![GFL].

exactly rite, arsene n us fans should strike until our demands r met they’re treating this genius like dirt n staining his reputation deeply, if we finish 5th(which i highly doubt) all hell will break loose in north london it’s really 4 the boards own safety that they bring in the rite players in jan, otherwise they will feel the full wrath of north london (we all know about the riots) n this time half the police will be joining in rather then trying 2 protect any of them

Iam looking forward for a good season. v r competitive. v have good players. and so far AW have done more than a normal manager to our club. I always respect his thought. he enlighten so many youngsters. for me his future predictions are really good. cos all the young players he bought been sold out for big prices and yet they perform world class. its all non other than AW training. So im proud wat he is bringng us on this weekend gonna be marvelouse. im so lousy to talk abt the board. stingy or may be money makers. well we need the lovers of club on the board. who really thinks abt the club

PHW is a complete p*ick. He is a banker who made his fortune with Hambros Bank, he has no clue about football or about Arsenal. This man only knows money and would sell his mother and entire family for a quick buck. Where was he when the heat was on Wenger 2 months ago???? sunning himself in some luxury holiday. Wenger stay, Peter the Stich to go!!!! The man sold out to an American (Stan) who owns 60% of the club and we have not heard a dicky bird from him…why??? because he got what he wanted. A deal between PHW and Stan thet his 60% shares would make him richer at the cost of our foot5ball and ALL of this done to stop David Dein and an Uzbeck to have anything to do with the club and undermine PHW. HE SOLD US OUT!!!!

PHW and Arsene must be shown the exit door. ArseNE is his name, not ArseNAL! “Was once” will never do Arsenal any good. Sentimentality is for memorabillia not silverware! Whwere is Nottingham forest and Leeds United? PHW and Wenger must buy themselves out of the club if they can’t buy players!
Fire the idiots!
