Peter: Wenger needs to sell Bendtner, Clichy and Denilson quickly
Arsenal’s firesale is not going well so far by Peter Rooke
There are three (supposedly) definite departures from the Emirates this summer. Both Nicklas Bendtner and Denilson have declared their intention to find new clubs, while Gael Clichy is refusing to sign a contract extension, but the “offers” are not exactly pouring in for Wenger’s outcasts.
Douglas Costa’s agent told the world that Shakhtar were offered Denilson in part-exchange for his client, but were refused point blank as they would prefer cash thankyou-very-much. Bendtner’s dad said that Sporting Lisbon had made a firm offer for his son, but the Portugese side were quick to deny any interest whatsoever.
Now it is being reported that Borussia Dortmund are going to put in a bid, but the Germans don’t think that the Dane is worth anywhere near Arsenal’s 12m euro valuation and will offer much less. Surely the Greatest Striker in the World should be worth as nuch as Gervinho at least!
The 25 year-old Clichy is reportedly under two offers, one from Liverpool for £5m and a £7m offer from Roma. Hardly a good price for a confirmed French international star is it? And with left-backs always at a premium Clichy should surely be worth at least £10m to somebody.
Even Carlos Vela has been knocked back after Wenger was offered peanuts for the Mexican star who just doesn’t seem to get any chances from Wenger. Why keep him at the Emirates if he isn’t going to get a game?
So even IF Wenger managed to find buyers for Denilson, Bendtner and Clichy and realised, say, £22m from the sales of all three, that would hardly cover the cost of getting a Leighton Baines (or similar) to replace Clichy. Surely Wenger should take whatever offer comes in just to get them off the wage bill so he can fit in some new arrivals?
Arsenal’s “busy summer” is looking decidedly unbusy at the moment!

Wenger should try to keep clichy at all cost… if clichy prefers premier league then he should play for arsenal. Concerning the other two, especially denilson, I wish they go as soon as possible, no matter the price. The deal with Costa would have been great really, including for denilson. I hope we can get him or willian anyway.

people dont want arsenals squad players for the price wenger is saying. it is proof that wenger has stuck by these average at best players for to long. everyone apart from wenger knows there average. denilson is 4m max and bendtner 6m. that is what i would pay. i personally dont think denilson could improve any prem team.

More drivel and speculation if I wanted to read fantasy stuff I would go and get a Mills and Boon novel.
Lets just face facts you have no more idea of the comings and goings at Arsenal than the rest of us.

How many more times, the international transfer window is bloody closed!! Frees, Bosmans, out of Contract players yes these can be officially announced, is that what we all want? NO I would be really upset even if Almunia left on a free, i want a million for him. Yes we have announced Jenkinson has signed, because Charlton agreed to tear up his contract for a compensation figure.
Have Barcelona officially announced any signings? have Real Madrid? Have Man City? Have Chelsea? even Liverpool and Man United have yet to announce the signings of Henderson and Jones. The majority of players are under contract players who have had their contracts cancelled (Jenkinson) or have been given free transfers (Larsson) can be unveiled by their clubs. The rest have to wait until the window opens. You can expect announcements to begin in the week the window opens, namely Monday, but it is more likely Thursday onwards that the signings will be officially confirmed by the clubs.

The truth is its better to keep clichy if we are only going to make 5 Million and let him go on a free transfer next year. You actually never know, we might win the title next year and he might want to stay and sign a new contract since he loves London so much.
Besides, getting 5 Million for clichy, then paying 20Million for a replacement does not make much sense. Arsenal at this point, should be happier to keep him and loose the transfer fees next year if he decides to move.

so far wenger or arsenal haven’t made any transfer dispite knowing we need some players to be sold n sign. so best option for us is sign new manager every thing will be good after.

Totally agree with Me-Basil, if we only receive paltry offers for Clichy and Nasri & for that matter, then keep them. It would give us longer to try and nail them down and bring on their replacements (Gibbs/Traore and Vela/Miyaichi). However if we can sell them for similar amounts to what we could buy Enrique and Hazard for then let them go.
Bendtner looks like he has already been replaced with Gervinho, so if we can get a similar fee let him go.
Denilson on the other hand is already blocking the paths of Lansbury, Frimpong and Coquelin so take the best offer within a set period and let him go.

Gaz – Not true, he is quick to defend his players when they are in the wrong and he is quick to say he didnt see an incident when all and sundry have. He was also the quickest Manager in history to win 2 doubles, albeit a few years ago now.

I wish we can get the same price for those player, but I am probably being very optimistic here. Denilson is worth $7M and Bendtnar is more like $12M. From what I heard within Arsenal – they value Gervinho at 14m-16M.

Oh! why are you wanting clichy to stay…enrique and baines far better than him,if wenger can get one of them left position would very strong and the team need to be changed to change their mentality…

I really think Wenger might as well have gone on vacation with the rest of the players. At the same time, it is not his fault and I do not believe he actually does the negotiations. I think arsenal has a team that does only that…contract negotiations. So maybe we need to improve that team.

I said that if we are only going to get 5M for him, then it would be better he stays instead of us spending 20M on a new player. The value of selling him is nothing compared to how much we have to spend on a new one, even if he goes on free next year. Which I believe if we win something, he would stay.

Its really starting to get up my nose now with the blogs starting to play the MSM tune of Wenger stalling over transfers when the flipping Transfer window is yet to open! Bendtner, Denilson and Clichy…..Fab and Nasri if they go will all go to European Clubs WHEN THE TRANSFER WINDOW IS OPEN…..until then if you haven’t anything constructive to say maybe take a break…like the players are doing….go for a swim at the beach like RVP and Jack… check out Indonesia like Cesc….but for goodness sake shut up with the moaning negative stories!!!!!!

Did somebody really write that Baines and Enrique are better than Clichy? Baines didn’t want to play in the World Cup because he has serious home sickness which is bit suspect to me mentality wise. And Enrique is a left-back with pace, but doesn’t track back well and that can’t defend as well as Clichy. He’s more like a glorified winger. Post something with substance and just shut up about Wenger and transfer activity until it actually starts in 8 days. I get to realize most of you are fake fans with a lack of understanding or common sense. VVC 4 life.

But nobody wants them.
How is it that when we want to buy someone their value keeps on going up, and when we want to sell it keeps on going down?
Can’t we just hand these guys over to Sp*rs or someone and have done with it?

What a chaos!!!
No signings, no nothing…. when is someone going to realize that this Arsenal bureaucracy of salary caps and cheap cheap everything is healthy for a club to remain in the top flight but clearly not adequate to win titles???
Aren’t we playing for titles??

Arsene Wenger is caught in his own trap. For years, he kept praising his mediocre players, including almunia. Now, he really knows what other clubs think of his players…not to mention that they havent won anything in 6 years!!

Clichy’s a quality player, I honestly don’t understand why people want him to leave. Funny thing is when people are asked why they want him to leave they don’t say anything lol.
Arsene can’t sell or buy people until July 1st people, the transfer window isn’t actually open yet. #SMH#
Most footballers have just returned from holiday, so expecting signings earlier is a bit stupid tbh. As a matter of fact Arsene is in South America as we speak watching the CONCAF, hopefully he’ll spot some talent.

Some one pls tell the fool chang mai steve that the purpose of this grace period is to tie down players to an agreement less the good ones get taken before the window officially opens. How many has united signed? How abt madrid or newcastle?. Are we going to continue like this until deadline day when we would almost complete 5 coups? What worries me is that none of the dead wood have been offloaded yet. Where then would the urgency to replace them come from? Pls we are not stupid! And what are we doing with 2 billioniar owners anyway?

Wenger is killing Arsenal…..Arsenal needs a manager and not children coach. Wenger strategy each year is rubbish. While Sir Ferguson is busy buying quality players, wenger is loking for buyers of his players…Its hightime Arsenal should consider another coach
