Phil Jagielka – Moving To Arsenal Was Never An Issue
Phil Jagielka was linked with a move to Arsenal over the summer, and at one point the bookies were so confident of him signing a contract they had him as odds on to join, but the player himself has now stated that the move was never going to happen.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror the England International said, “If you ask the manager, he’ll probably tell you that my situation was the easiest transfer ‘saga’ he’s ever dealt with. There was never an issue. I just wanted it to go away, and that to be the end of it, so I’m sure if you’d asked the gaffer what was going to happen, he’d have put a lot of money on me staying.”
Jagielka went on to say, “I was slightly affected because my name was in the papers a little bit. But I spoke to the manager a couple of times and he let me know what was going on, and there really wasn’t a part of me that expected to go. It was a difficult time. There were rumours of this player going and that player going. We were all a lot happier when the window shut.”
The Jagielka transfer always seemed as though it would never get off the ground once we refused to pay for Samba and Cahill. I wonder what would have happened if Arsenal had already qualified for the Champions League. What would Jagielka’s opinion have been then?

thank god we didn’t pay them 18m, otherwise arsene would have called him our marquee signing, now we still expect a signing like hazard or m’villa etc.
