Podolski confirms he speaks English and is moving in the summer
Lukas Podolski has been on everyone’s lips for the last two transfer windows. Many wanted to see the former Bayern Munich striker at Arsenal as backup to captain Robin Van Persie in January. Unfortunately he decided to stay in Cologne simply to cement his position in the German national teams for the looming Euros this summer. However, the 6ft German now looks very likely to leave his hometown this summer after his most recent interview. It is indeed quite a lengthy interview, bear with me but here’s what he said:
“If I were to move, then the way things stand at the moment, I would move abroad. I speak German, Polish, English and Cologne dialect – I think you can get anywhere with that combination. I am always receiving enquiries and if they had been really attractive, I wouldn’t be here now. But seriously, I will make up my mind no sooner than the summer.”
It looks certain that he’s dead set for a move. He even discusses the terms of his original agreement that took him to Cologne a second time from Bayern Munich:
“I was told that a team would be built around me so that we could establish ourselves first in the top eight and then in the top six. I had lots of promises made to me before my move here and I wanted to play my part in achieving these things together. [Former Cologne coach] Christoph Daum once said that lots of promises are made, but few are maintained here and I think my situation confirms that. When you see what perspectives were shown to me and what has actually happened in the end, it is disappointing.”
This looks like its Arsenal’s time to shine and take Lukas to the Emirates. He would do wonders for our team and would take us some way from turning to a title contending team once again. We can only hope that Wenger secures this deal as soon as possible. I’m sure Podolski will have a successful Euros and this will only alert some of the bigger clubs. It could also persuade our Flying Dutchman, Van Persie to pen a new deal at Arsenal.

Well if a Podolski transfer happens along with the already secured signing of Matias Suarez, I will climb the nearest tree and scream my face off with joy; but depending on who actually leaves in the summer we might only need one of them. The driftwood will be thrown back out to sea this summer my friends.

If there is strong rumour that Matias Suarez has already signed a pre-contract to join the Gunners in the summer, where does that leave Podolski? Suarez is able to play anywhere along the front line so does this versatility make him the preferred option over Podolski?
If we can get both of them that would be excellent as Arshavin, Chamakh and Bendtner all look likely to leave. One position many don’t realise as important is having a good backup keeper to challenge Szczesny. We’ve obviously come to learn that Flappy and Almunia simply don’t cut it at Arsenal. What happens if Szczesny gets a long term injury?
As we all know a CAM is something Arsenal really lacks. Despite Ramsey’s 2nd goal of the season against Sunderland, it’s taken him about 10 open missed attempts to get that goal. I really don’t think he is a quality number one choice for Arsenal in CAM. He would be a good backup but that’s all. Ramsey is NOT direct enough as a CAM should. Simplicity is the hardest part of the game for a CAM, and thats why Fabregas was so good at it. Ramsy needs to learn this part of the role to improve his game, rather than piroetting with the ball like a princess and losing it all the time. We all know Arshavin can perform better in that role, but the Russian won’t be holding his breath for Wenger to put him there.

I can only see us buying Podolski if RVP leaves, otherwise where will he fit in? We have 4 wingers in Ox, Walcott, Gervinho and Ryo (plus arshavin but he will leave). If Suarez comes he will b back up to RVP and if he doesnt come, well Podolski is too good to sit on the bench as back up (and wont do it). Unless AW has plans to use Podolski as the striker and have RVP sit behind him as a CF/CAM role?

Apparently, the person who reported about Matiaz Suarez signing a pre-contract agreement with Arsenal, Perez, is said to be a man of credibility !!! So, this cover-up might as well have been done so that the deal price should not inflate. Why the hell is nobody talking about Japanese Assasin SHINJI KAGAWA(MEAN 14 GOALS WITH 9 ASSISTS) TO ARSENAL (10 …….WHICH HIM PLAY…..AND I ASSURE YOU….U WILL FORGET HIS TEAM-MATE MARIO GOTZE !!!
As far as Podolski is concerned, until it happens…….I don’t believe it. I mean Wenger spending 20m him is almost out of question…….although if it happens I will jump into Thames for sure !!!

Matiaz Suarez?? I thought the player himself has denied it? As for CAM, Arteta can play there especially when Jack the Kid comes back. Just hope Eisfeld surprises us all and becomes the next big thing!

If we sign him, we will need to get rid of Chamakh and Bendtner ASAP. As someone mentioned, Suarez has signed a pre, so we will have 3 quality strikers, that is if RvP decides to stay. What a team, I cannot wait for the summer.
With Wilshere back, I think we will be able to compete once again for silverware. Let’s just hope we don’t sustain anymore injuries for a while. Ryo looks like he is gaining vital experience, as I always say a team with decent wingers is a team that is capable of winning any match.
On the topic of Per, I think bringing Bartley back from loan at Rangers would be a wise choice. Who knows who else is going to get injured now. If anyone of our defenders get injured, we are screwed. We cannot keep pulling Song back into defense. Bartley at least using his height to his advantage, and is big and strong, not easily shaken off the ball. I’ve watched him at Rangers and is a pillar of strength for them.

I guess that Arsenal is only thinking about Suarez right now. But if we loose VP (please no) then they will propably get podolski. Suarez is great, great with the head,2 legged, amazing shots and great vision. But he is not good enough to start every week at arsenal so he should be at least a back up for one more or 2 years. So we need atleast podolski or vp infront of him in the rank order. Or we could sack arshavin and get both suarez and podolski! Another player we need is an CAM, hopefully we can get hazard and play him there. I dont think we need much more, because we got a lot of talents and they can be really great too. But 1 or 2 attackers and 1 CAM should be just enough!

arteta doesnt suits as an attacking mid. he is more suits as a good holding midfield. what worrying is when wilshere back. he gets the arteta role back. song or arteta? i think arteta wud be even good there. song hold the ball too long n sometimes lose posesion. bt hv a great vision. i think song is even great at the centre of dfence. he cn drive forward n gve a killer pass. bt there is kos,tv5 wud be top at the heart of the dfence. mert is a definetly on the bench as a cover.the attacking midfield is left for rosicky n ramsey fighting for their place. hope eisfield cn turn into a world clas. n wenger wna get nick powel an exciting talent n again for the future! haha. two atacking midfield?nick powel n eisfield cn turn like mr.cesc oneday? so what wenger plan on rambo then? does rambo signed a pre cntract with intermilan?for 20m?next summer? haha.jst kidding

AW must get involved with agent NOW and get him to sign pre agreement, so we don’t lose him to some other club. Doesn’t matter about worrying where he will play as we need him, AA will go to Russia, Park wants out and can go and Chanakh will be gone, so what an asset. Hazard behind him and RvP and Vertonghern at back, WOW here we go Gunners, back to being top side again with plenty of class, quality and skill and once again a threat to all and sundry.
Come on Wenger, do your thing and don’t let any of them slip by.

Haven’t we heard all this before? So & So is coming to the Arsenal and So & So is as good as a done deal. I enjoy reading the rumours of all the great players that are coming to us but none of it has materialised and it unlikely to do so. The real truth is a lot of players will only come “if” we qualify for the Champions League next season and “if” we sell some of the players who have not really proved themselves and “if” the purse strings are loosened a little. “If” any of these “if’s” happen, then I’ll start getting excited. Until then I’ll concentrate on what we have now to achieve our goals and at least one of these “if’s”.

Let man Wenger decide, he is more experience to that. Podo/ Suar are all good strikers. We shall be in four tropheys we need extra attacking power. Chamack will soon catch up. Lets avoid namming names of players currently in team not loaned that is leaving. Arshavin is our man, lets not predict bad about him. He will be at Emmirate forever. Captain of a big country/ team he deserve respect.
Mombasa, Kenya.

Have you guys not learned that AW sees himself as a babysitter not a football manager- he buys them in the pram and brings them to near perfecrtion and then sells them and buys a few also rans.
Like chamak and the likes.

Arsenal haven’t even spoke with suarez let alone signing him people gettin wrong info here. And podolski is enterin da last 18months of his contracts so we will get him cheaper. N he’s much better than matias suarez anyway.. Podolski is in prolific goalscoring form for his club and a consistent GERMANY international a team that has many exciting players in their starting line up. And he’s gt a sweet left foot too and aint afraid to shoot and CAN shoot unlike most arsenal players (except RVP and TV who can produce powerful shooting)..

He has clear ability, definitely superior to Chamakh for me, but you have to question his attitude. Internationally, he opted to play for Germany despite being brought up in Poland- fair enough but he has consistently made unnecessary, disrespectful comments about the Polish FA. He has played well in two spells at Koln, but there he has been the star player and any ego he has would have to be indulged. Off the field he has publically questioned how the club is being run- particularly over a lack of ambition in the transfer market- an accusation that you could imagine resurfacing should he join Arsenal. In between he played for Bayern Munich and something clearly wasn’t right. He ended up with a poor goal return, then dropped from the first team, then sold back to Koln. These are alarm bells for me, and he would represent an expensive gamble.
