Ramsey expects to be Wilshere’s partner this season (no mention of Cesc or Sami!)

Posted on July 26, 2011 by admin

There is an interesting post on the official Arsenal website that seems to suggest that Aaron Ramsey is keen to be Jack Wilshere’s partner in the Arsenal midfield next season, with Alex Song as the defensive part of the trio.

The article itself mentions that Fabregas and Diaby may split them up when they return from injury, but there is no mention at all of Nasri.

Ramsey said: “Me, Jack and Alex are starting to build a relationship and are doing well together,”

“We’ve shown that we are more than capable of playing together and are connecting together. It is an interesting combination and one that I hope I can be apart of.

“In the middle, we did well against Cologne and it was a good work-out.”

Am I reading too much into this, or does Aaron know something we don’t?

No, I think you are reading too much into it.

Although I do think that the Arsenal media posed him the question (e.g: ‘How do you think you three are doing in midfield at the moment’) so that this kind of answer would come out. Then IF cesc and sami left, the fans would be more reassured.

Drip, drip, drip …. Little by little, through things like this Arsenal are preparing us for what we’ve all been fearing – no new players. I want you and I to be wrong but with little action and just rumour to go on it’s hard not to speculate the worst !!!

I think that Wengers “we want to keep Fabregas” story is just try to raise bid from Barca. Song-Wilshere-Ramsey, it sound good!

this means someone else has a chance of being a part of the combo. whether it is nasri or maybe mata or whoever

BY THE WAY, HAS ANYONE SEEN THE ARTICLES STATING THAT AC MILAN ARE ATEMPTING TO OUT-BID BARCA FOR FABREGAS?!

Tailsy – Its called the 25 man squad rule, it is why Wenger said a few years back that it will be the end of the transfer market as we knew it. The only players moving will be really expensive, Bosmans, player swaps or loan deals. Things will stagnate as youngsters will be ready to take their places in the 25 man squad. Over the course of the next 3 summers Arsenal will have 24 players reaching the over 21 rule and ready to be integrated in the 25 man squad. That is after selling JET and releasing Cruise and Deacon. Players like Ramsey and Wilshire are the future of Arsenal, Fabregas and Nasri are definitely not. I have heard tonight that Barcelona have offered Affelay plus £30m, Wenger likes Affelay but Arsenal want Thiago, the deal is getting closer. Hopefully Wenger will get both players and £20m then we can sell Nasri too. If we get Thiago that could help us land Javi Martinez or Mata or both with the £40m. For me Mata, Martinez, Thiago and Affelay would put us in a fantastic position far better than the one we are in now. It would mean that we would be well prepared to off load Diaby, Rosicky and Arshavin at somestage too.

  10. AFC by Birth says:

Tailsy – another point to consider, you say no new players OK i know we have only signed 2 but of this lot do you know how many games they started between them last season?
Vermaelen, Ramsey, Lansbury, Mannone, Traore, Vela, Bartley, Miyaichi, Afobe, Frimpong, Gervinho, Jenkinson. Well the answer is 14 matches. So that is 12 players in the 1st team squad that only started 14 matches between them. That is 5 matches less than Eboue managed on his own so dont tell me there are no new faces. We have campaigned for the last year to get some players out and fresh faces in. Well of the 31 players used last season 4 will defo not be here next season with at least 3 set join them and i am not even including Fabregas and Nasri.

Sure we would all love new signings but what about the youngsters who have been at the club since they were 9 or 10, i bet you were one of those moaning that JET has left. Under the 25 man rule a balance has to be reached the best youngsters come in (Walcott, Vela, Gibbs) and some leave (Randall, Cruise, JET, Deacon). Then at the top players will leave too, some that you dont want to leave (Fabregas & Nasri) and others that have served their purpose (Lehmann, Clichy, Eboue, Bendtner, Denilson, Almunia)

Next year or sooner i expect that Rosicky, Arshavin, Diaby Squillaci will probably lose their place in our 25 man squad and their places will go to Lansbury, Szcesney, Ramsey and Botelho

  11. cesc says:

the ramsey song and wilshere looks good but if it fails people will say its down to exp! arsenal summer transferring is always the same but tbh i would only like a striker and a cb to come in now. cesc staying just ruins the teams confidence now, wenger has to put a complaint into uefa about barca and manu tapping our players up!

AFC by Birth – where did you hear they offered affelay +30m? That’s a good deal. Affelay is another nasri, maybe better.
By the way, have you heard rumours of lansbury leaving? I’m not so fussed about JET, talented as he is, but I’d be devastated if lansbury left.

  13. LondonGun says:

I spoke to one of the Arsenal 1st teamers on holiday in June about Fabregas leaving….his response was ‘We don’t need Cesc, we have Aaron Ramsey’. He didnt commit but gave the impression that Nasri was going nowhere as well and certainly not to Manure.

  15. Sokeye says:

Ramsey should’t worry about Diaby at all, he is extremely lucky to wear the shirt. Also JET looks lazy but i thought he is worht more than 1.1m.

I like Affely too, we should him +30m and run away, if we can that is!

probably no gooner loved fab and nasri like i did. do u remember the ball fab got from christiano passed to Adeba for a cool one neal finish against manure?, do u remember the long range short against ac Milan and nasri’s two against manure still? just to mention afew,

having said that, even if i was playing for arsenal today, i cannot resist an offer from barca or manure( i hate it)considering arsenals reluctancy at the market

  19. andy bishop says:

Any team would need cesc fabregas..on form and committed. All this Barcelona speculation tends to over rate him though. He has a long standing niggle with his hamstring and has played far too many games since a youngster. £35 million and or player swaps is a blinding deal. If Nasri stays there will be problems in the middle of the park as Nasri can be egotistical. We still need a top quality holding midfielder..how many times did Cologne catch us on the break?.

  20. john says:

aaron jack and alex in the middle of the park will be the best midfield in the league remember before ramseys leg brake he was a head of jack in the pecking order and he kept him out as well! Give jack and aaron 2 years of playing together and we will have the new xabi and inesta i would put my house on it. The weak link for me is song he wants to be an attacker but he should learn from his mistakes and just sit a bit deeper because if we don’t have are first 2 cb in the game he needs to protect them a lot more!

I personally think if we brought in cahill/ the big german we would push man united all the way this year the team is young and hungry get rid of cesc and nasri they are not good for team morale! my first 11 would be

    Secz

    Sagna v-man cahill gibbs/troae

    walcott ramsey song jack gervinho

    RVP

That is a young and hungry team no attitudes in there except RVP but he can do whatever he wants in my eyes!

Maybe if i am being picky we need some more stregth in depth but thats my 2p thrown in!

it’s good for Arsenal to build Such partnerships because that trial has a heart for the club other than struggling with the likes of Nasiri and fab

John says that the weak link is song… what are you talking about. please realise that Song is an unsung hero. he gets on with his job with little fuss… and this myth of him wanted to be an attacker is a nonsense… the mid field are capable of switching positions during a game…. so when song sees an opening to attack another midfield just slips into his position….
People keep mentioning these english players as if they are the savoir of arsenal… please believe that they are overated, and over valued… I am glad Wenger is not falling for the hype of True english Grit nonsense… Now There’s the TROOF

  23. Wenger is a joke says:

Ramsey is the only youngster around the 1st team that I actually rate. IMO he has it all – mobile, good passing range and ability to get into the box. He is also very intelligent and can read the game well.

Wilshere had an amazing season considering his age but I saw more hype than goods with him.

From what I red this morning, Mata would be close to Arsenal, the question is: Who will he replace? Nasri? Fabregas? One sure thing is that he won’t replace both of them… I really hope Nasri leaves and Cesc stays…
