Real Madrid target Wilshere – No worries for Arsenal
Super-rich Real Madrid usually wreak havoc in the transfer periods with their ability to acquire almost any footballer they have their eye on, and Arsenal are just at risk of losing star players to them as any other team.
The Spaniards have been linked with Robin Van Persie, Andrey Arshavin and even Cesc Fabregas in the last year (before his move to Barcelona was finally completed), and their next Gunners target – according to the Marca – is Jack Wilshere.
The club are seemingly planning to spend £25-30 million on the 19 year-old, with a view to create a ‘dream team’ of Europe’s most promising emerging talents. This squad would include Mario Götze, Eden Hazard and Rafinha Alcantara, all three of which are Arsenal targets.
This news comes just a week after Wilshere promised that he would stay at the Emirates “forever”, and Gunners fans would have been impressed at his apparent loyalty in what has so far been a whirlwind season for the club. Despite these kind of pledges at times turning out to be insincere in football, Wilshere has been at the club since he was just nine and it seems unlikely that, after his Player of the Season showing last campaign, he would end his Arsenal career before it has even been given the chance to take off.
The fact that he most probably would get into the starting line-up at Real Madrid – especially after winning the midfield battle in Arsenal’s win over Barcelona in last season’s Champions League – does give him more reason to join the Spanish giants but at the moment, there seems little reason that they would offer him much more footballing-wise than Arsenal, although the chances of cup and league success have been higher at the Bernabeu than the Emirates in recent years. The likelihood of trophies at Arsenal this season arguably hangs on his presence in the squad and his availability after his current spell of injury.
He will inevitably receive ludicrous wage offers and the Gunners would recoup a mammoth transfer fee, but is Wilshere a player more interested in football than finances? Whether he is that sort of footballer or not, surely Arsenal’s grasp on the player is too tight for any team to snatch him away just yet?

I trust in Wilshere. He wouldn’t leave. He was in Arsenal since he was 9. He treats Arsenal like a home. Trust in wilshere. He wouldn’t go back on his words.
Top Gooner!. Agree or not?:

wilshere would feel elated with this kind of news.this wont happen atleast for now.the only positive in this rumour is,it will ensure wenger does enough(in maintaining a competitive squad) so that the players are happy at arsenal ….

Real madrid shows interest for any buzzing player in the world because they see the mediatic potential of a player as a way to make money… and reputation… I don’t think that, at the time, wilshere could be bewitched by money and mourinho’s sparkling promises (god I hate the guy!!).
I might be wrong but english players are the more loyal players in the world to me. If not to a club, at least to the league… I can’t see wilshere leaving arsenal as he’s a true fan. Mourinho will have to find an other target, someone that loves money and easy fame… Maybe he should try to get nasri…

They are mostly not good enough to move elsewhere and they make a looot of money in the EPL, so no incentive to move

Are you saying the likes of lampard, gerrard, wilshere, rooney etc aren’t good enough for moving??? Maybe they are too expensive, but not for real madrid. Maybe it’s more patriot than loyal, but it’s not a lack of talent! How disabused are you? However you have a point when you say they earn good money where they are, maybe more foreign moves for english players would improve their level. But you also say “mostly” and that means a few of them do have the talent (the ones I quoted) and still they go nowhere… So I have a point too ^^

Let’s get this straight …. Real Madrid are not super rich. They are super borrowed !! Both Real and Barcelona would face a crisis if Spanish banks dared to stop lending to them. There would also so be riots.
I am waiting for Barcelona to want Wilshere. Then he can say … it’s no good, you lot at Barcelona have better players than me in your reserves !!

All respect for writers in this amazing blog, but Luke T. I wonder sometimes if you really are a Gooner. Yesterday you were honoured that Song was a target of Inter, now Jackie is target of big Real Madrid. You think that Arsenal is not big? Sorry but I really miss Admin.

Madrid is like a spoilt child never happy with its got and always coveting what everyone else has. Jack would be better of where he is truly loved and appreciated ie: at Arsenal.

So we have Song to Inter, Wilshire to Real Madrid, Chamakh to Bourdeaux, Van Persie to Man City hhmmmm. What a load of rubbish!!

I would doubt Wilshire would want to go to Spain, not just because of his affections for Arsenal, but because of the language barrier (very few English players leave for foreign clubs) and the fact that his son has just been born and he will want to be around his family.
I’m more worried about what might happen in 5-6 years if Wenger were to leave and Arsenal still weren’t winning trophies.. Then a lot of these up and coming home grown players may well decide Arsenal is no longer the club it used to be and they would be better of in Manchester or somewhere warmer (like Spain)
In any case, Wilshire should by that point be one of the top players in the World (and certainly one of the very best in the England squad) and will command a transfer fee, far higher than £25M – so it would make no sense for Arsenal to sell him now.
