Real Madrid to challenge Man City for Van Persie

Posted on December 11, 2011 by admin

It is being reported today that the Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is preparing to try and tempt Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie to move to La Liga rather than make a big money move to Arsenal’s Premiership rivals Manchester City.

The Mirror says that Mourinho is close to breaking Barcelona’s stranglehold on the Spanish domestic honours and the European plaudits, and wants Van Persie to provide the missing link to confirm that superiority.

They also say that Man City may be willing to pay the prolific Dutchman 250,000 a week to join Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy at the Etihad stadium, but even if he continues to refuse to sign a new contract with the Gunners he would prefer not to move to another English club and upset his relationship with Arsenal fans.

Arsenal bosses believe that Van Persie may stay at the Emirates if Wenger breaks the habit of a lifetime and brings in some top stars like Mario Gotze or Eden Hazard to prove their ambition, but risks losing his captain if he refuses to invest some of Arsenal’s growing transfer surplus.

Would Arsenal fans prefer Van Persie to move to Madrid rather than Man City?

**Van Persie’s first 100 goals for Arsenal – 10 goals per minute! – Brilliant!**

RVP should append his signature and commit to play for gunners for life. The likes of Jose Mourinho and Mancini should not think that Arsenal is a breeding ground.

For RVP, it’s like the big difference between sleeping with a prostitute (RM or Man shitty) and sleeping with your sweetheart on a Xmas day (AFC)! Now I don’t think the choice is difficult to make here!

he should make his name at emirates. we can afford 250. if they will have to sell him, then they should sell him to Madrid at a fee of 60m euros. anything less is a crap. after all arsenal is about business.

  7. Aussie Jack says:

Whether van Persie stays or not we still need to buy a few world class players. When we start talking of salaries in the 250,000 pounds per week bracket it`s hard to use the word `loyalty` in the same breath. Like all Arsenal supporters I would like him to play out his days at Emirates but if he choses otherwise I for one won`t lose any sleep.

Robin Van Persie will choose abroad for sure if he leaves Arsenal and if wenger don’t spend some of that 35 million pound that he has left from players leaving this summer then I think RVP will leave at the end of season. Hate to call it as I’m Arsenal for life.

  20. Big Gun says:

If he eventually wants to end up playing for some yankie ‘soccer’ team then yes go ahead and leave. Look at all our greats that left…they didn’t amount to anything. Henry, Viera, Pires, even Nasri isn’t getting any 1st team games. He would be out of his mind to play for Madrid or any other major team. Arsenal is his home and he is the man here at Emirates. Just looking at our young guns we have so much potential to become the best team in Europe, maybe even the world. The board would be wise to bump up his salary and show how much we appreciate him in AFC, also Wenger sign a world class player in Jan to show guys like RvP, Walcott etc that we mean business in winning titles.

Just another thought, what good is it winning titles with teams like Madrid, City, if you don’t even play in the majority of those games? It’s like you don’t even deserve those trophies. At least with Arsenal, he knows that every victory won and future silverware, a great deal of the sweat and blood shed was of his own.

We love you RvP, stay, win trophies and become a true Arsenal legend like your fellow dutchman Bergkamp.

Rvp will not leave. He would have requested a transfer and also watch how samir nasri’s form dropped when he wanted to leave. All these r signs v.P should consider b4 making a decision…Nasri.Toure, gallas, henry, pires, reyes, flamini, clichy, hleb, lehmahn, how many have played well since leaving the gunnas..To cap it all i dont see Robin Van Persie leaving the Emirates sooner..Peace out,all these are normal routine rumours.

I believe Wenger has learnt his mistake with Nasri and will buy a couple of players in January to keep RVP. The Prof knows all too well, as we do, that releasing RVP in this type of form is JUST NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

RVP loves Arsenal, but we still have to give him what he wants……Ambition to WIN.

Professional footballers play for money, get that in your thick skulls. Stupid fans think that players play football for loyalty.
At the moment, Arsenal cannot offer big money nor trophies for highly ambitious players. Only the low-ambition players stay for this kind of money.

Well sorry he is not for sale. Actually we need a creative midfielder and striker so why not we make a bid for Ronaldo and Silva in January to bolster our current squad. Wenger should bid even if rejected. That should stop them pocking @ our players. Why is nobody bidding for Rooney or Chicarito(They are not 4 sale)

  37. eosaz says:

I agree with @Robert. I am sure the management at the club do pay attention to these blogs(remember they invited some bloggers to the new med ctr the other day). My advice to them is do everything possible to keep him, simple. No tricks and no spin!!! If you let him go we fans will be well done for and the stadium will be empty, no jokes, seriously; cos there is just about how much we can take and we are only floating here just head above water. It is simple, if you want to keep raking in that money, we demand you keep RVP, sign at least a creative mid and striker. Make us smile and your profit will shoot up lol. BTW As we are enjoying our top 4 position even tho still waiting to c chelski and shitty game, Spuds lost today to Stoke so we are doing very well. Lets get behind the team a bit more and become the 12th player on the field and just give them that little bit of fighting energy to cross the line game by game. Peace be onto all Gunners everywhere

Real can make an offer no club can refuse, and RVP is worth a lot right now. Club might get money for couple of hi-quality players but still money can be obtained on the other places. I hope Van Persie well stay in London

Tbh if van persie goes i guarentee it’ll be for ambition not money, he’s a player who loves the sport and benefits from the money in it rather than playing for the money like nasri seems to. if he leaves i hope he goes to a club that’ll do good by him and give him some trophies he deserves. i do however pray each night (athiest btw) that he stay’s at arsenal and wenger brings out the arsenal billions to sign a world class striker (podolski) and a world class creative midfielder in gotze which would really put arsenal into atleast 3rd.

at the moment, I think he will stay….what is the point of moving to another trophyless team anyway? ok FA cup yea yea, i would pay top money for that cup…RVP is more a player of ambition (he tasted that cup already anyway)…On move to Real, I think he prolly had had enough chat with van der vaart/huntelaar on that!

  43. Kezzy says:

We love RVP and so the question is completely irrelevant. However, in the unlikely event-then RVP should stay or would rather join Madrid in a swap deal for a prominent player. Wenger should break the record by not only signing prolific players to add to the squard but also to pay a substantial amount to keep RVP at the Emirates stadium.

  44. William says:

Robin Van Persie has said himself that he would like to see Arsene Wenger spend some big money and bring in a world class player or two. I myself, as an Arsenal fan, would also like to see this happen. I think it may be the only way to secure his signature. It shows the ambitions of the club. I am afraid to say, but we have in the past been let down by players, we thought, had pledged their allegiance to the club. Although I do not want to think RVP would leave, there could be a real possibility of this. Perhaps if Wenger signed one or two high quality players, this would help keep RVP, but also for the greater good of the club, bringing more depth and quality to a side to bring back the hopes of title contending.
