Real Madrid want to swap Benzema for Van Persie?
Hot off the press this morning is the latest Arsenal transfer rumour concerning Robin Van Persie. It has already been revealed this week that the Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is monitoring the Van Persie contract situation with a view to making an offer in the summer if the Dutchman refuses to sign a contract with the Gunners.
Now today the Mail reports that Madrid is preparing to tempt Wenger into letting Van Persie move to the Spanish capital by giving Arsenal Karim Benzema as part exchange on the deal. Of course all this depends on Van Persie and his decision at the end of the season.
But Wenger has always admired the tall French international and reportedly tried to get him from Lyon before Madrid came in with a massive offer a couple of years ago. The 23 year old has been nearly as impressive in La Liga as Van Persie has been in England this season, with the great record of 14 goals so far this season for Madrid.
If Van Persie really does decide that its time for him to move on next summer, then Wenger could do a lot worse than exchange him for the much younger Benzema who has proved his worth in both the French and Spanish Leagues already and may relish the opportunity to do the same in England, and especially under Wenger….

the only way this could happen is if V-P really wants to go, but if he is commited to the club, than even though benzema is class i would no way swap him for our captin, for me Van Persie is better than ne other striker right now. As long as RVP is commited to us than no deal regardless of fees or benzema or whoever as part of deal, RVP staying is the most important thing for us next summer

This is nonsense. I do believe Real Madrid are monitoring the contract situation, but I doubt they would allow Benzema to leave. Had this happened last season when Benzema was not getting first team football I’d be more prepared to listen.
Van Persie WILL sign a new contract and Benzema WILL remain at Real Madrid.

as long as RP keeps netting…so his stock will rise & so his weekly salary will rise with it (and we will not be able to match it – let alone get near it)…
would you turn your back on 200k a week and accept the 90k offered to date

Another BS story to waste another 2 mins of our time reading.
Firstly, months ago Benzema had stated his ambitions to stay at Real Madrid and fight for his place in the starting lineup. Something he has achieved scoring 14 goals already.
Even if Mourinho wanted to trade for RVP, it still comes down to the decision of Benzema and RVP wanting a swap. Fat chance!

Sounds like a load of tosh to me. Benzema is 23 and doing really well, why would Madrid want to swap him for a 28 year old, it makes no sense. Sure they may want RVP but with 1 year left on his contract in the summer, a cut price deal is far more likely.

If I were RVP, I would stay in Arsenal and enjoy doing what I know best ie scoring goals. This happens for him in Arsenal because his team mates believe in him and supply him balls. The same might not be for him in Real Madrid.Remember what happened to Kaka and others.As for the swap. forget it. That will not come to pass.

I’d be more interested in Gonzalo Higuain + Cash or Gonzalo + Nuri Sahin for RVP. RVP is our captain and leader and a truely class player. I rate Benzema very highly but Higuain is more consistent in his goal scoring and more of a workhorse. There’s no way a straight swap of RVP for Benzema is beneficial to us.
As I said in another blog yesterday, Mourinho is so pissed about losing El Classico this weekend that he’s gonna do anything he can to be Barcelona in May at the Nou Camp. He’s coming after RVP!

both clubs want to keep there best assets and improve the squad, one in and one out helps neither us or real madrid!
No doubt benzema would be a great addition but hes hardly likely to join if on the way in he passes van persie out the way out the door, so yes to benzema but to partner vp in a 4 4 1 1 system not to replace him and leave us with just one decent striker again.
v p is right up there with messi and ronaldo at the mo and having him at arsenal will naturally attract better players as who wouldnt want to play in a team with vp the captain and leading the line, its why players go to barca to play with messi. we must keep hold of vp or our credibility will badly suffer and big names just wont come!

RVP > Benzema as a player but only if he’ll be healthy all season long, and we all know that’s hard to belive.As long as he came to Arsenal from Feyenoord in 2004 he’s playin’ ~23 games per year for Arsenal because he’s injured for like half of the seasons.I love him as a player and i appreciate what he’s doing for the club right now ,and the fact he’s the 3-th best player in the world at the moment but people need to understand he is fragile as hell!Everytime he’s on the ground kiked by some defender/s i’m like “He’s done”.Don’t forget the fact he played just 15 games for us in 2007/2008 and 16 games in 2009-2010 season.
As i said i love him as a player but in long terms Benzema will be more helpful for the team.

Don’t get me wrong-hell yea’ i wannna’ see Benzema+RVP+Gotze in Arsenal-that will be GREAT but we don’t have the cash to spent.

Don’t know why media keeps writing about RVP they did the same thing with CESC and Nasri and eventually they left. RVP said, he has bought the house in London so it does not make sense to go away from here to play in Europe.
But it does worry me that why isn’t he signing the contract the same thing happened with CESC And Nasri so do you think he is thinking of leaving?
Hope not RVP we love you and we would like you to stay and carry on what you are doing for the club now that you have all united together. You have jelled in and now working together.
RVP should stay and not move but welcome the player for Real.
We hope and wish that he signs the contract lots of talk going around on RVP.

straight pick at the moment based on form… RVP obviously. If he refuses to sign another contract, wants to move on etc, and we’re being offered someone like Benzema, I’d take it. That way we have a quality replacement rather than wenger investing the huge sum on a cheap unproven prospect.

This is probably bull. But I think maybe we should do it in the summer. Benzema has much more of his career left, He is as good of a finisher as Robin but maybe not overall a better player. But he could be in the future. Let Robin go to Spain and get a few trophies there.

I think that’s a fair deal, as long as we get another £20million on top of Benzema, who is pretty much on par with RVP’s form, scoring 14 La Liga goals, 18 in all competitions. Also, Benzema is 5 years RvP’s junior, and so has the stamina, ability and confidence to maintain this form for years to come, whereas RvP is 28, and will run out of stamina in the next 4 years. Benzema also isnt as prone to injury as van Persie, and so will be more reliable to score goals game after game for a whole season.
Benzema + £20 million for RvP
Buy Podolski or another good striker to pair
Another back up striker
= A January/Summer transfer well spent!
