Robert Pires has confidence in Arsenal’s new arrivals

Former legend says that Giroud will shine by AM

Former Arsenal great Robert Pires has said that, with time, Giroud will shine through. The Frenchman said that, even though Arsenal have lost some important players, Wenger will replace them eventually. Pires said – “It takes time to adapt, and it is especially hard for attacking players, but I am optimistic that both Giroud and Podolski can be a success. I have seen Giroud playing in France and he has the qualities you need in England. He is strong and he has a good touch. He can be like Van Persie in my opinion.

“Podolski is very mobile around the pitch and he is a Germany international with many caps. They will adapt. Santi Cazorla is someone I know well. He has adjusted to England very quickly and the fans will love him.

“This is a difficult time for Arsene Wenger. He has lost important players in the last year like Gael Clichy, Cesc Fabregas, Van Persie and Song. But he has lost players in the past and replaced them and I am sure he will do it again.”

Arsenal have failed to score any goal in their opening two games against Sunderland and Stoke. Players have come out and said to have patience with the new signings. Podolski scored 2 goals in Arsenal’s last pre-season friendly against his old club FC Koln, but have failed to hit the premier league running. But naturally players coming from other European league take time to adapt to the pace of the premier league. Giroud on the other hand started against Stoke and was unable to cause any significant trouble to the Stoke center back pairing. His long range effort right at the end, which would have been a wonder goal had it gone it, was the only highlight of his performance in that match. Moreover he also missed a chance to score the winner in the opening game after being put through by Cazorla.

  1. John Legend.... Truth is bitter

    They’ll do well, Ω̴o doubt.
We aяe actually supposed τo get another striker with Giroud, so do we need a defensive midfielder too.

Arsenal are the only team in the Premier League and Championship not to have conceded a goal so far this season!

no pires our squad is not good enough for competing against likes of Chelsea and man city. we want the league more than anything. cl is maybe too far but with this team it is very hard to win the league and it makes me angry knowing if wenger had spent the 50 mil he had available we could’ve been favourites

  6. No more excuses

Nobody is saying they don’t need time . Is that not the point we’re makin ? Do u just forfeit the advantage of scoreing goals for the first few mths while players settle ? We were light on strikers last year and now we’re relying on 2 players who haven’t played in the epl to replace a phenomenal striker who had experience in this league . People say they aren’t ther to replace rvp – well sum1 should be ! A lot of supporters seen this cumin a mile off – but once again the hafwits at the top cudnt . I’m not slating Giroud or Podolski , but a top marquee forward bought in July surely would have been a better bet – especially as once again – we are still short of firepower .

Diaby is a world class player, nobody gives him any chances yes he didnt do well against stoke and sunderland but Liverpool will be an open match . We have to get behind our current squad.

It is so painfully to see our product keeping utd from the bottom of the table, for all their trust in youth bull, have they ever actually made a player of this calibre, please don’t give me the beck ham stuff, he is a smashing chap but totally different grade.
Van persie went for money, he knows he would of had a better chance winning the league with the current arsenal crop, man utd look so so weak in the middle of the park and their defence is literally pants, van persie is going to have a job scoring than the circus let in.
Does anybody else sit at home watching utd with their family, laughing outloud about how rubbish rio Ferdinand is, bless you rio, we have had a good laugh at you today.
Can utd win the league if they are leaking like a siv , give over.
