Russian Side Anzhi Are Latest Club To Target Robin Van Persie

Posted on September 30, 2011 by admin

We all know that money talks in football, just look at Chelsea and Manchester City for example, but one club in Europe is going all out to top the lot and that is Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala, and yesterday it was announced that Robin van Persie is on their shopping list.

There has been plenty of speculation in the last few days about what is happening with Robin van Persie, with the player himself preferring to concentrate on his football right now rather than discuss a new deal, but today there is further fuel to add to the fire.

Anzhi are the Chelsea of the Russian Premier League. They are owned by billionaire businessman Suleyman Kerimov and he wants his club to be challenging for Europe’s top honours.

Earlier this summer they took Samuel Eto’o to Russia, who it is alleged is being paid around £300,000 per week. It appears as though they will stop at nothing to get what they want and are reportedly lining up a long list of Premiership players including are very own Robin van Persie.

Anzhi are currently under the temporary leadership of Brazilian defender Roberto Carlos, who is already planning for next season. He spoke to Radio Marca yesterday and said, “I will have dinner with the President to discuss transfers for next season. We want to sign players like Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Robin van Persie and Robert Pires.”

There were also rumours circulating last week that Anzhi could be in for Andrei Arshavin, though there is no further news to report on him at the moment.

Money is no object to the likes of Anzhi and they can offer any player from any club far more than they could ever earn in the UK. Arsene Wenger said a few days ago that there is “no problem” regarding the situation with his Captain, but with this news today maybe he is getting just a little worried. We could always sign Carlos Tevez, I heard he was going on the cheap. That was meant as a joke, but thinking about it what do you reckon?

As things are now, only RVP can determine whether he goes or stays. There is nothing anyone can do about that. He said in the past that he loved the kind of football that Arsenal plays and could only move to a club that plays a similar style like Barca. I do not think that Barca are in need of a striker right now and even if they are, I doubt that they can pay. If RVP has not changed his football philosophy then he should stay.
Arsenal should be making plan B for a top striker now so that we don’t get shocked if he moves.

Clubs like these have changed football into a computer game. If they offer over 35mil he will go, how could the board refuse? I don’t want this I like rvp just as I like the rest that got taken away by the billionaires. Arsenal really need to up the wage limit & spending limit abit. We need to be buying a 20mil player every other season. Look at yaya toure, agureo, Suarez, David luiz… Money well spent on effective players that help get the results.

footballing doesnt seem like a sport anymore.its becoming sad and boring, its giving undue advantage.all the thrills and fun is being lost……… thank god for the ffp rules ,it will make it a sport again…..

  7. Big Gun says:

RVP will go. We most likely will not win anything this season. Our only hope is if Wenger signs some more quality in January to make RVP see we mean business. If we had bought some quality before Fab and Nasri left, I’m sure they would’ve stayed. But they saw the club was going stale so they left. Same thing is happening with RVP, and he also is getting on. He is 28 and probably has spent more than half of his footballing career at AFC winning only 1 FA Cup and one Charity Shield. The man is hungry for trophies.

simply said.. money talks.. does arsenal really not have money? or the board just feel that they dont need to spend?

  9. The realist says:

I dont think van will leave us for £€$ but am afraid he might feel the club lacks ambition to win trophies and may look for pastures elsewhere and if he does leave we r officially done
ok fab4 left to play for his hometown club (who r z best in z world) i would understand that nasri left for £££ but if van leaves us we got to get rid of z board

  10. Adex says:

Hey……. It will be difficult for the club if people like Van persie leave the Emirate stadium. My advice to this is that the board has to be very careful and makesure that RVP don’t leave by all means, so everything he need should be offer to him and get another striker to be assisting him but not people like chamack, i mean xperience that is ready to help & work for the club coz RVP is one of the tower of Arsenal that is preventing the club not to fall down. But if @ last he decided to leave, then makesure best, xperience player are sign in to Emirate. Up Gunners.

  11. Evan says:

Rvp is a family man who would not go for money. If he leaves, he leaves because he wants more trophies, that’s all.But not to Anzhi. If he leaves, He will leave as a gunner, not like na$ri.

And hoping wenger would do some signings in january in a bid for RVP to stay.

  12. Bouba says:

Well, let’s be realistic for one minute…
How much money can Arsenal offer Van Persie?
I can answer that for you, not much at all.

Can Arsenal offer a guaranty of titles or challenging for titles?
I can answer that for you too, no they cannot.

Why would Van Persie stay with us when he can double ( or triple is wages ) and play in a very competitive team.

You might say he loves the club… Ohh yes right, “love” brings you trophies.
He might make a pass at the money, but when it comes to a chance to win “something” he will grab it with both hands.

  13. SoyuzBot says:

I personally think Persie won’t go there, he hasn’t got this thirst for money. But if Anzhi should offer Arsenal no-brainer sum of money like £50M, what can u say?

  14. SA gooner says:

I’m afraid Arsenal is no more.A club that was great and ambitious is declining everyday. We no longer have legends. We sell all our older quality players unlike MU where a player can play untill retirement. Our younger players should be bothered by this tendency because Arsenal can’t be called a player’s home untill retirement anymore!!! SHAME!!

  15. chime says:

if we Arsenal management can leave up to expectation, RVP should leave if he wants to i m solidly behind him. In as much as football is a game, its business as well and the players have to earn a living now they are still fit. whoever wants RVP to retire in Arsenal with such a meager salary hates RVP and doesn’t wish him well.

  16. James says:

@ evan. Im sorry to tell you RVP will go for money, but I doubt it will be to Russia. At the end of the day he has to put himself and his own personal family first. We have a great club everything is in place except we are not keeping pace with the top clubs when it comes to wages, transfer fees etc. If you were in a job and offered a pay rise of whatever amount, like what footballers like nasri and adebayor got they will go its simple.

  17. Luke says:

I don’t want RVP to leave arsenal but if he does i won’t blame him. The man is world class and naturally he’s hungry for trophies.. So would you/I/anybody would be if they had the talent and didn’t get proper recognition. Loyalty or Love for the club is not the question here.
