Ryo ready to rival Ronaldo!

Posted on January 04, 2011 by admin

Ryo Miyaichi is not a name on the lips of most Arsenal fans, however, he is indeed their latest signing. The deal was put in place last summer on transfer deadline day and has recently been confirmed on the official club website. A statement read:

Arsenal Football Club is delighted to confirm that Japanese forward Ryo Miyaichi will be joining the Club in January 2011.

Arsene Wenger, the man who made sure the deal went through after interest from Ajax where the young Japanese youth international broke his leg in a trial game, spoke of him in glowing terms:

“I am delighted Ryo will be joining us in the New Year. He trialed with us in the summer and has raw ability which has attracted many clubs around the world. I look forward to helping him fulfil his potential here at Arsenal.”

It is believed that Ryo will slot straight into the reserves before looking to challenge for a place in the first team, he is quick and it is claimed that he rivals Theo Walcott’s 100m record at the club. Miyaichi made a big impression on the coaching staff when he was handed a trial in the summer and played alongside fellow young recruit Wellington Silva at London Colney.

Whilst he seems a humble young chap, it is clear he has high aspirations hopes ‘one day I will be standing on the pitch at Emirates Stadium’ :-

“I’m confident I have the ability to penetrate defences over there and hopefully I’ll be given the marks that I am looking for, I just have to go there and give it a shot, compete and hopefully one day I will be standing on the pitch at Emirates Stadium.”

He was quick however to pour cold water on the early comparisons with legend Thierry Henry and former world player of the year Cristiano Ronaldo:

“I don’t feel pressured by the comparisons but I know in myself that I have nowhere near the talent of such great players as Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry,” he said.

“I just have to do my best to one day come close to being the kind of players they are.”

One thing is clear and it is that this young player has the natural attributes and talent to succeed at Arsenal, the rest however, is down to his hard work.

The comparisons with TH and Ronaldo are misleading.

He’s fast and there’s potential, but anything else is rubbish.

  4. Subin says:

Well one thing is for sure…this guy is probably gonna be Park Ji sung of Arsenal or even better! i’m certain Fabregas is gonna leave soon and possibly Nasri could start playing in the middle of the park once he’s gone…hazard is the only high profile name that cover up the wings and he’d be terrific! Cahill is highly unlikely to arrive at the Emirates cos i think Chelshit will be hijacking the deal :\

There’s no problems in his work permit b’coz he has represented most of the time for his country in the level of age group. I think he already has got a permit to work in Britain.

Ryo is quite different from Walcott..! Despite bit slower than Walcott in 100m track record, running in the track without a ball is different from running with a ball in high-speed tempo matches. I hope that Ryo, as I saw him, can run with a ball very fast and control it, hold it firmly.

news in spain real madrid going try get nasri in may with offer of around 18million, question is how much does nasri like playing at arsenal?

  10. Jon says:

Why would Madrid want Nasri? They have too many midfielders (even more with Kaka coming back) and a lack of strikers. Anyway, the comparisons with Ronaldo and Henry are ridiculous. If he was that good then there would have been more teams after him.

What about Samba for centre half-physical specimen who could flourish under Wenger’s direction, and he was right to be put off by treatment of Allardyce, though he talks too much bs at times, esp. towards Wenger, he deserved alot more respect… Cahill isn’t that great either, and consistently gets beat by the big boys, even Chelsea took em recently, which aint saying much!
