Sagna – We have to win something for Wenger in his last year

Posted on August 03, 2010 by admin

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is entering the last year of his contract, and although the Frenchman has said that he won’t start renewal talks with the board until the autumn, Bacary Sagna believes that the team have to prove that they are really capable of winning something to persuade him to stay at the Emirates.

“He has done great work at Arsenal and we want to win things for him,” said Sagna.

“Everything he has given us we need to give him back. That is what we will try to do and it would be great to win something.”

“I don’t know if it will be his last season at Arsenal – we don’t have to think about it. We just want to play and give back the trust he gave us,”

“I don’t need to say how important the boss is to Arsenal but the contract situation is not a concern. Our job is on the pitch and not outside.

“This is another part of football and we just want to stay focused on the pitch to do our work and after that everything will be fine.”

Win something for the fans as well Bacary, we’ve been waiting five years as well you know!

We the Arsenal fans are so desperately praying for them to win some sort of silverware, even the Carling Cup would do, just go and do it! But my head says they won’t as they have forgotten how to! When we had the best crop of players with only ManU as our fiercest rival, we could manage only 3 EPL titles, but look at the current situation with 4 more clubs vying for the big prize and Arsenal with one of the weakest teams ever assembled, I could only say dream on!!!

morons, lol, is that all you follow arsenal for? for trophys to be able to braf in a pub? your lifes must be very dull if your only dream in life is for arsenal to win a trophy.
why don’t you just go and enjoy the football, you’ll feel much better for it , demanding a trophy worrying that the team not won nothing, will just make you dead boreing, relax enjoy and be patient what will be will be.
thank you for your time from a real gooner not a paper weight like most moaners at arsenal.

demongooner: So you support the gunners just to shed tears into your beer glass? It must be the most stupid way to get a full pint and save money. Football is all about bragging rights and we have got very little of late. Lately, even the football has become less enjoyable – take a look at our performances against Chelsea, ManU and Barca! We need to get rid of a lot of deadwood and bring in some talents.

Our best team did it in 2003-4 with a record of being unbeaten but it looks like its getting harder every season for Arsenal to win a trophy.last season we were about ten points off the winer and after promising to strengthen the squad, we have bought two players so far and lost around six. There are players who will cost reasonable amounts but can bring change to the team but AW knows lets enjoy the game and not expect a trophy so soon.

to greg, if your life is all about bragging rights then you sadder then the first two replys on here.
before you start claiming our football less enjoyable then please remenber this, against barca we had more then half our regular first 11 out injured and lost cesc with abroken leg,as for man utd and chelsea i seem to remenber out playing both teams only to lose too own goals.
i much rather this arsenal team to the don howe team we had,you probably to young to remenber this but he played a central defender as a striker, and brought a player called john hawley anyone from that era will tell you how good he was,and the football we had to watch back then.

We still can brag about something. Winning 18 titles both liverpool and man.u did, and FA cup, many teams did so, sames goes on for the carling and the CL or any club cup. But what Arsenal did, no other teams did that. WE REMAINED UNBEATEN THE WHOLE OF A SEASON!!! :D :D :D :D TO RE DO THIS I THINK I WOULD REQUIRE MAN.U, CHELSEA, LIVERPOOL AND MAN.CITY ALL PLAYING TOGETHER, AND I’M NOT SURE THEY WOULD STAND ONE ENTIRE SEASON UNDEFEATED! WE ARE GUNNERS!!!!!!!!!!

    IN ARSENE WE TRUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

gunner4lyf : Many thanks for reminding us about those achievements we can still be proud of. In fact these are the undisputed facts I still remind mates.

demongooner: I have a rich and fulfilling life style. There is nothing sad about me and I am not taking the bait. Arsenal Football Club is a passion and I am despirate for them to do well year on year.

You have gone too far back in your analogy as I do not know john hawley, the player you mentioned. But it is nothing new to convert a player from one position to another. As an example Ashley Cole was a striker before he converted to left back.
