Salomon Kalou linked with Arsenal again
There have been many Arsenal transfer rumours flying about but the early links with Salomon Kalou seemed to have been forgotten about. The Chelsea striker has been in great form for the Blues since Roberto Di Matteo was appointed manager and the Ivorian international has been getting a regular run in the first-team.
Everyone has been discussing whether Didier Drogba will be signing a new contract at Stamgford Bridge but (like Van Persie and Walcott at Arsenal) everyone seems to forget that Kalou is also out of contract this summer, meaning he can leave as a free agent this summer if he wants.
But today, Talksport seems to have remembered this fact and they report that the tall winger is still refusing to discuss a new contract until the end of the season, which means after the Champions League Final on May 19th.
Salomon was asked about his future again, and Talksport quote him as saying: “I’m one step away from winning the Champions League. After that I can decide on my future. I just want to win the Champions League.”
They then go on to say that, if Chelsea manage to beat Bayern Munich, Kalou will have won every trophy possible with Chelsea, and think he is more likely to leave once he has the full set of medals…..
Wenger has previously admitted that he tried to buy Kalou, so will Wenger consider bringing him to Arsenal on a freebie?

He should be last on our list, hes not that bad but we already have heaps of wingers so i think he would struggle to get game time anyway, only possible way i wouldn’t mind getting him would be obviously for free and pay him low wages?

Such an average player, for me like Gervinho in the sense that he lacks composure but atleast Gervinho is quicker, has much better dribbling ability and is alround better than Kalou
For me a decent backup player to have on the bench but should never be considered a first team player

I dunno !! I like him ( as impact sub only tho ) , not a first team player but we need quality subs too as we have seen far too often when we were in trouble and needed someone to come off bench and add a bit of pace and att mentallity we didnt have it .So if we got him for free and cheap wages i think it would be good bit of bussiness for AFC

All the criticism on Kalou is harsh. He does in fact have a very good match to goal ratio and considering he plays on the wing. BUT he shouldn’t sign with Arsenal as really he would nor get to play much. He should stay in the premier league but play for a club week in week out such as QPR or Bolton, which ever one stays up

What peolple forget is that he played as a striker before he moved to Chelsea, and that is his best position.
Ive seen him play at feyenoord before he went to Chelsea and he has got some serious goal scoring skills!
Chelsea play him as a winger because he has 2 strikers in front of him.
So he would be a good second striker for Arsenal, and with the money we save on him we should strengthen midfield/defense

some of you guys have no idea what you are talking about. Gervinho just signed for the club this season and you already write him off as average or poor just because he’s getting acclimated to a new team and league? Absolutely pathetic, stop bad mouthing the players at the drop of a hat. As for kalou, don’t think that Wenger will go for him, in the past maybe, but we have RYO “The Japanese bullet” as the perfect back up on the wings.

he is a really good back up. With arsenal’s injury problems he will get a lot of football. He will be a good fit n we need depth. Wenger will never make Rio n ox play 90min especially OX. Bt he should be our last priority. N he cn only if we clear out the deadwood

Was hoping I wouldn’t hear it mentioned again . How long has he been in the epl ? How many games has he played ? Is this really how low we’re gonna sink – lookin goals from 5m pound fulham players + freebies from Chelsea ? R the ticket prices cumin down ? Not likely – yet we’re supposed to pay thru the nose to watch 2nd rate players .

This kalou business is gettin boring, plus i wouldnt believe any rumours dat link arsenal to a winger, arsenal may lack depth in nearly all areas but 1 area we dont lack depth is on the wings, weve got walcott, gervinho, chambo, arsharvin who are all better then him, podolski may be playin as a winger for us, got ryo and campbell comin up, so dont listen to any winger rumours unless they can play behind the striker

As23 . He’d a good season feeding in + around zamora who is a top striker + a player who holds up the ball for midfielders . He scores goals from free kicks as well . So takin into account we dnt play with a striker who holds the ball up + that he won’t get takin free kicks / or be the main man in our team I wud suggest that u take a chill pill b4 insulting some1 u dnt know . If people are going for free or 5m then thers normally a reason . And by the way / I do think these players wud help the squad – but I repeat – is this the best we can get ? People saying we need players of better quality than kalou. but that is not true what we need is players of better quality than park chamakh bendtner and vela. the qustion is is kalou better than any of those 4 ?
there are so many good players available on free transfers this summer it would be wise to see who we could get in on a free and explains why it is difficult to sell some players. for example

Just like the veiws of the majority, Kalou is not d messiah we need, we deserve a striker of higher qualities. Pls do not forget that if we do not win any silverware next season, that ill be 8th straight! We need world class, we need wonderful game changers, we need a squad oppositions will be afraid of, we need every-opposition to sub-consciously know Arsenal will surely score them, its just a question of how many goal etc, etc. To me, the profile of Kalou does not fit perfectly.

Well looking at the list of free players ‘Realist’ put up, I would love to see Nesta, Raul and Adler.
Adler will be pushing for the No1 keeper spot, Raul is a football legend and would help out our youngsters, Nesta again a football legend, would help out our youngsters and add more depth and experience to the bench. and….. THEIR ALL FREE!!!!! If Arsenal do not consider any of these, then I will be hsocked, but most likely one I think would be Adler.

Straight up kalou isn’t necessary good for depth but I’d get someone like Sturridge if I was buying a winger. We need 3 more players as a bare minimum: forget belhander, m’villa, hazard and all the rest they’ve been exposed and are future superstars which = big £££.
I’d say get a gk, cam and a cb that is essential. To add depth possible another striker, right back and cm/cdm/box2box. With the squad being as big as it is sell useless players the djourous, fabianski’s, almunias and squillacis. Nurse diaby, Wilshere and crimping back to fitness hopefully players like Ramsey and arshavin will be in form and that’s a solid team right there
