Scholes: Arsenal play pretty, but whats the point?
The Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has just been appointed a coach at Old Trafford after retiring from playing, and it seems in his first interview he has decided to talk about Arsenal’s inability to win a trophy, despite playing the best football in the Premiership (at times…)
Scholes said: “They may play the prettiest football, but it doesn’t always produce the results they need,”
“It doesn’t irritate me that people say they’re the best footballing team, because while they are doing that, we are winning games. They do play the best football to watch at times, but what is the point of that, if you are not winning anything?
“Not only that, they are potentially going to lose their best players, in Fabregas, Nasri and Clichy.”
Scholes also voiced the opinion that he hoped that Nasri would join Man Utd, and if the rumours in the Independent are true this morning then Arsenal are willing to accept £25m for the French international.

If United’s players were actually dealt with by the referees properly, maybe they wouldn’t be winning so many of these games. Elbows, handballs, last man fouls, numerous bookable offences, kicking players off the ball – anything goes for Utd players. It’s not an even playing field. Scholes knows this as well because he took advantage of it many times.

Who gives a fuck what this little prick thinks? Funny, he says we are not even considered as rivals to United anymore, yet its The Arsenal that he feels the need to gob off about. He is just trying to swing the Nasri decision towards United.
The quicker we tie up the sales of Nasri and Clichy the better. £65m for those 2 and if what i hear is correct we received £15m for Clichy. That is £80m plus the original budget of £45m for Wenger to sort our team out. If the news about Song is more than a rumour, then we must go out and get Parker and Barton straight away. That would be £10m well spent in my opinion. Jagielka, Cahill, Samba and Baines or Cissokho, Gervinho, Mata and Hazard. Then if we are a little short we could raise a few extra quid by off loading the deadwood.

Man U went into the final trying to counter Barca before the start rather than playing their own game. They worried too much about the opposition. If United had played their usual game I’m sure they would have won. It’s one of the few time i have ever seen that team intimidated and it was a tactical disaster by Fergie who should have got slated in the media for that.
Anyway, what i like about United is they are versatile. They can win ugly, we used to be able to. We dont show that anymore. Thats what makes teams champions, the ability to adapt to teams with different style and game plans. Wenger has made us one dimensional. Pretty but not always effective. Essentially that is what Scholes is saying. Who has the medals????

Scholes should just concentrate at Man UTd affairs . Those guys up north are afraid of Arsenal because sooner or later they style of football will turn into results .Barca had the same period when they were trying to engrain that style of football , they went 6 years without silverware .
Wenger knows he just needs to bring in someone ( backroom staff ) who perfects that style at the training ground because I feel Pat Rice cannot do it ,and just a couple of players 4-5 at most but the foundation is there and its a matter of time before the results come for Arsenal .
That style of play when all the players know what to do , you dont really need world class players .Someone said Barca has a lot of quality but some of the players were quite average before Guardiola completely moulded them .

Scholes is trying to get Nasri to the club. The style of play is a means to win trophies. As if the manager says “go out there and make pretty passing patterns, who cares whether we win”. You’re all jumping on the bandwagon and what makes it disgusting is that it’s a Man U bandwagon. The fact is that there hasn’t been enough money invested in the team and the team isn’t QUITE good enough. It’s shameful to see you all go along with this tosh. Do you honestly think that Arsenal would win anything playing like Stoke ? United have spent roughly 50m more than Arsenal net over the last 10 years, including an 80m windfall from Ronaldo. They will spend a lot more than us this summer too. That makes it a lot easier to win trophies.

Yes but they ignore the advantages they get at Utd. I count at least 11 clear red cards they avoided this year, and the suspensions that should have come from them. I can understand one or two, everyone get’s that, but 11!? The number of times this year there was that awkward moment where the ref knew he should send off one of their players, but chose not to, is just appalling. Rooney elbowed someone in the head ffs, in front of everybody… and nothing happened!
Can you imagine if the refs acted towards them the way they act towards us? They’d go on strike!

We need grit to conquer england again, and AW really in my opinion doesn’t realise the importance of playing rugged in †нє chase of the epl title. It be immense to have Parker, Samba and Cahill. We won’t need more than one very good playmaker signing in addition to Gervinho if we can procure †нє signatures of †нє trio is mentioned. I think 25M is good money for Nasri. True its banter and he is jumping on the have a dig at Arsenal bandwagon. But remember this. The guy has won the lot during his career and more importantly, played for one club all his career. How many of those do we have? Which Arsenal fan wouldnt want a Scholes in their team. I know I would.

The reason why Man Utd didn’t play there game in the champs league final is because they knew that Barca would thrash them. There is no way Man Utd would’ve won with carrick as there only proper CM.
Therefore, Man Utd tried to with-hold Barcas’pressure and then they could score a goal on the counter attack, using the speed and finishing ability of Hernandez. Wake up m8!

Oh I forgot we weren’t playing beautiful football back in those days right? C’mon guys get a grip! Yes I know that was the past but the stadium really set us back financially. When you can’t invest in buying the players you primarily target, you just have to work harder to remain consistent. Let me inform you guys that we haven’t missed out on champions league for 13 years since 1998!
What other team with the limited spending we possess, have achieved this? look at Liverpool, STRUGGLING but trying to rebuild. We’ve been rebuilding since 2005 and had it not been for the Fab saga, you might be able to say we are close to assembling a great team. Well that is not the case and we too have to rebuild again. it’s just how the cookie crumbles. I, too don’t like it as many other fans have expressed, but there is no point going against the personnel that work their arses off for this club. Wenger especially.
