Schwarzer is just as angry as Arsenal fans!

Posted on September 05, 2010 by admin

All the Arsenal supporters have directed their anger at Arsene Wenger for not buying a new goalkeeper this summer, but it seems that Mark Schwarzer is jus as annoyed that he wasn’t allowed to move to the Emirates.

He was mysteriously injured during the first few games of the season while Arsenal were still trying to persuade Mark Hughes to let him leave, but he was more than fit enough to pull off a point-saving performance for Australia against Switzerland on Friday.

After the game, the Australian media pressed him on what his feelings were about missing out on the chance of Champions League glory with the Gunners; and he was seething, according to the Australian ABC. They reported: His eye twitched at the mere mention of last week’s events and the normally amenable figure smiled and used single word responses on the issue.

He had a wry smile on his face but admitted he could not yet trust himself to talk publicly on the issue.

“I would rather not say anything, I would really rather not say anything because otherwise I might say something wrong,” he said.

“At the end of the day you have to get on with your work and coming away with the national team was a great relief for me really,” he said.

So although Wenger might have failed in his quest, there is no doubt that both parties were desperate for the move to happen. Perhaps we have all been a bit hard on Arsene?

We all fail to see that Mark Hughes is an anti Arsenal man. He would do anything to stop Arsenal being a top team so why would he sell his best goal keeper. If it were Man Utd that came knocking at the door, he would have sold without thinking twice.

still blame wenger should of offered 3,5million in may/june we wouldn’t have this problem nw. offering 2million and free B.L.T rolls at emirates wont clinch nothing!!! 3.5million is justified had he 2 seasons and a coaching role too!!

  8. Pain says:

I would blame both Wenger and Hughes. Wenger has been given so long period but acted very very late while his bidding prices are nowhere near to convince any clubs which their goalkeeper are linked with Arsenal. As for Hughes, he clearly dislike Wenger like Fat Sam, Pulis, relegated Phil Brown. 2 mil should be enough to bring Schwarzer to Emirates, a tidy business. What the hell he want 2.5 m plus Vela permanent transfer to Fulham? Wenger is a stubborn head while Hughes is such a crazy old twat.

It’s such a heartbreak for him, An opportunity to play for one of the top sides in the PL and it goes into flames just because his hard nosed manager wouldnt let it happen.
Don’t worry MS, we will sign you up January!

  12. Rock says:

The keeper isnt even the biggest issue, upfront is. Against half way decent opposition we create very, very little let alone score. Yes we batter teams in the bottom six which makes our goal tally look good, but Wenger is deluding himself if he thinks we’re going to win the title when we can’t create much against the better teams.

That’s the difference between us and chelsea/united, and it’ll be our undoing again.

  13. Common Sensei says:

Somehow I doubt we will …. I know many of us are itching to sign up a new keeper and I would be the first to agree if there was a better one there to sign.

Schwarzer isn’t going to get the no1 jersey even if he does arrive, and Almmunia will just work harder and play better if another keeper does arrive.

I’m not entirely happy that we didn’t sign a gk but I’m happy we didn’t sign schwarzer. I think almunia will improve though.

Yeah totally agree there – and I think a striker will be signed in Jan

  16. joshuad says:

Two million pounds for an average 38 year old keeper who’s in the final year of his contract is a very fair offer. In fact, it’s a very generous offer. Wenger made that offer back in May.

The first problem is it took Fulham a long time to find a manager. The second problem was Fulham didn’t have a replacement earmarked for Schwarzer. The third problem is they just lost their number two keeper for two months. It was an easy decision for Fulham to keep Schwarzer.

I agree we need a new center forward but we won’t need one in January as Bendtner should be back by then. We needed one just in case Chamakh and van Persie were to go down at the same time. Who can lead the line? We should have kept Simpson as an emergency option until Bendtner was fit. The decision to sell Adebayor without bringing in Chamakh potentially cost us the title last year. Will our lack of center forwards cost us again this season?

I come from a family of rainmakers and I predict that Almunia will most likely be phenomenal this season.I bet people will be asking him to play England and compete with Joe Hart next year.

  18. Common Sensei says:

I still think a striker is good value to add to the squad in Jan. Incase RVP and Chamakh both get injured, mid to long term – it would be nice to have one further option.

Infact it doesn’t need to be a new signing, what about Vela? I have long admired this guy I think he will be immense for us in future – perhaps he will get some games this season?

I hope so, that cheeky trademark chip of his is a delight to watch

never read so much crap in my life, from the replys on here only a few spoke sense, one we don’t need another forward we got around 6 already playing for one position, two schwarzer is an average goalkeeper, old, getting artitis(i should think ),he’s no better then alimunia who in three games has conceded, two goals both off which were the fault off his defenders,(did no one notice clichy not doing his job at blackburn ,when they scored ,or koiceny allowing the diof get past him so easily, or song and diarby both failing to stop the attack in the first place).
and admin please do what you say you do, and thats report the facts, and they are many arsenal fans have not blamed wenger for failing to sign schwarzer, many have said that in your blogs, in cluding me who has argued against schwarzer, and a few other keepers named as possible buys.
so don’t say all fans are angry at wenger.
and when is a friendly a point saving game?point-saving performance for Australia against Switzerland on Friday.
in your words >>>>>point-saving performance for Australia against Switzerland on Friday.
plus switzerland are hardly spain when it comes to scoreing goals are they.

  20. Dan says:

Schwarzer was never good enough to join Arsenal so I’m glad that this move didn’t materialise.

I’m angry at Wenger the Loser because he had all summer to identify a suitable ‘keeper and the best he could find was some soon to be 38 year old with a dodgy knee and back. Well done ARSEne.

dan you are a twat sorry but to call a guy a loser when he our most successfull manager,in history, makes you look stupid .and i’m sure you are not. you,me and admin don’t know what goes on behind the scenes at arsenal, arsenal have never in the 40 odd years ibeen supporting them ,ever said who they after in the transfer market, my bet is wenger was probably chaseing three keepers one was scwarzer, two was the ajax keeper and probably one aother, but as you know if for a vararity of reason they never came. i know you a loyal fan who like me gets frustrated but please think before calling wenger a loser, he’s far from that.

I would love to see the day Alumnia will stand up and save an angled rising shot, rather than going down. @ common sensei, Mark S is a lot better, reliable and dependable than Alumnia. A new GK will make him sit up.

@ pain, good post and agree with all your points about those d**khead managers who don’t like AW and our beautiful style of football.

I agree with everything you said demongooner.

The quality of this site is going way down in my opinion, it used to one of my favorites.

There are a small section of ‘supporters’ out there that need to see a doctor or someone because your deluded behaviour and ideas are probably not only limited to your opinions about Arsene and Arsenal. Sort your lives out and get help NOW!
