Suarez denies January move to Arsenal, but he’s coming in the summer!
The Anderlecht striker Matias Suarez is trying hard to cloak the fact that he has signed a pre-contract with Arsenal to play at the Emirates next season, and is busy denying that he will be moving to Arsenal in January but he makes it quite clear that he will be doing his best for Anderlecht until the end of the season.
“I want to, at the least, finish the job that I’ve started and that is helping the team to win the title, which is what everyone deserves,” Suarez said. “I don’t know where the story has come from that I will be joining Arsenal this winter, but I can formally deny it.
“My bosses are well aware of what I want that is to stay at Anderlecht for now. I’m still learning, and that’s another reason I don’t want to leave.”
It seems he can honestly announce that he will not be joining Arsenal in the present transfer window, but he doesn’t deny he will be coming in the summer.
It looks like it’s a question of papering over the cracks of the interview he did yesterday which said that he was coming next summer.. It looks like a done deal to me, although Mr Wenger won’t be very happy that he has been very loose with his tongue over the secret negotiations…..

Matias Suarez is a great player and will complement van Persie. The fact he’s signing on a free for the summer implies that Wenger is lining up a major transfer.

@ Charlie, he won’t be free i think he will be cheap in comparison to the big names out there but is supremely talented and will be a major coup fees are likely to be between 5.8-7m. Trust me this is a big signing, just because he will come cheap doesnt mean he wont be a good signing all you doubters RVP and Henry were bought for peanuts. You can Spend 50m and not guarantee success Torres at Chelsea speaks volumes and Andy Carroll for 35m an utter waste.

@Caff, Hazard is a big name for a youngster but still unproven…….but because he has made a name for himself his Agent is whoring him out to the highest bidder we wont compete with that and if Hazard is stupid enough to go to Chelsea to ruin his career at a club that doesnt play the way he plays or Real where he will be a benchwarmer after a while (how is he gonna displace Di Maria and Ronaldo)so be it. I used to love this guy and really wanted him and/or Gotze at Arsenal but you know what…….now i am not so sure.
Reason being is that they will play their guts out and leave because they dont seem interested in Arsenal because if they were they would state they want to go there and something could be arranged but they seem to love being a bartering chip for the high paying clubs, they seem too money oriented and too easily swayed by the ‘next big thing’ we will be used as a stepping stone. I also heard that Hazard has a crap attitude when things don’t go his way and he sulks and doesnt perform until he gets his way……hence his limited appearances for his country. If we get him then so be it, but if someone else gets him not too fussed as long as it aint someone in the EPL, but i doubt it because he has had his head turned by Real and Barca if not those i reckon he would settle for Chelsea or Mancity, i strongly feel the guy plays for fame and Money not for the love of a club and its fans.

oh BTW everyone that thinks because this guy has a cheap price tag he might not be that good……….Matias Suarez recently won the Belgiums Golden boot award. If he truly is coming in the summer (which i am 98% sure he is) how does this sound….Golden boot awarded player signs for Arsenal for £5-7m

All of our best players brought under a.w cost next to nothing,
i think its a great move and clever thinking getting a pre contract this may be the way forward in securing the players you first wanted with out some other richer club coming along stealing them away with offers of silly money and a nice view of the game from the bench

Suarez is good. Wenger did his homework this time around. Well said Maverick. And @ Lolcat Yes BF3 is better (dedicated servers) but you should rather talk about that on a gaming forum. I just hope when he does come to Arsenal he won’t warm the bench all the time. Would be great if Wenger could try some different formations with two strikers. We still have Park, don’t forget.
What I really wish above quality signings, is that our players stop getting injured so often. I honestly think it is our training program. Our boys are not conditioned enough to face the strain of the BPL. We have teams like City training twice as hard. It’s no secret, and their players keep on chugging away without a scratch. Sure one or two short term injuries, but nothing like us. We have players like Diaby, Gibbs, and a few more who have been in and out of sickbay you think they were starting to like the food. We are paying a fortune for these players to sit on their asses and heal up, just to be injured one or two games after they recover. Then we have players like Jack, Sagna, Vermalaen etc who ARE Arsenal. Without them we look like half a team.
In football you have to be better than the opposition on AND off the pitch. The problem comes in with Arsene being too soft on the players. I have heard of and read countless interviews of players who see Arsene as the ‘father they never had’ and yes that is a great thing, but with love comes discipline. Look at how Fergie dealt with Rooney after he broke the rules. Look how Tevez was treated after he thought himself above his club. They were dealt with accordingly.
Anyway, that turned into some sort of rant, just really tired of injuries ruining our chances season after season. With our full squad, we have a really good chance of winning the league. But these injuries are killing us.

Since January 2011, Fernando Torres and Andy Carroll have scored a combined 7 goals, for a combined fee of £85 million.
In the same time, Robin Van Persie and Demba Ba have scored a combined 57 goals for a combined fee of £2.75 million.
I look forward to the arrival of Suarez. Ridiculous money doesn’t always buy class my friends.

Agree with Big Gun. Fergie has always admired our players if he had this team it would win the league because he will rant at them. Fabregas recently said : “at Arsenal i did what i like but at barcelona if you don’t defend Pep puts you on the bench”. Mr Wenger is getting too soft with players. I’m tired of seeing players not trying hard enough or having a bad game but are kept on til 80 min. He needs to start showing ruthlesness. If he cant he should buy Samba to do it for him.
And rosicky and arshavin are disgrace coz of the way they behave when it’s a corner kick or free kick against Arsenal. They look disintrested. Why can’t Wenger bring Tony Adams once a week to do defence work

Arsenal trying to do a cover up story on their website saying they are not looking at signing Suarez in JANUARY:
“Arsène Wenger says he will not try to sign Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou during the January transfer window.
The Ivory Coast international has been linked with a move to the Emirates, but the Arsenal manager rejected suggestions he could move for the 26-year-old.
Wenger also denies that he will try to add Manchester United youngster Ravel Morrison and Anderlecht striker Matias Suarez to his squad.
“Ravel Morrison at Man United? No. We know him well,” Wenger said. “No [to Kalou and Suarez as well].”
Now i am nearly 100% sure he will be coming in summer because normally Wenger say “I know the player and i like him but we are not interested in signing him” BUT this time they start the article talking about JANUARY transfers and then saying “no he is not coming” but surprisingly no comment about the summer which most of the rumours are mentioning, same with Suarez disregarding a transfer in JANUARY saying that he wants to help his team and then goes on to seemingly say in his own right after the season is over things will be changing without obviously being able to fully say why.

Good news.AW is a fantastic manager.I like the approach he has taken now-not spilling the beans in the public.Yes dont reveal deals until they are done upto irrevocable levels to avoid competition from other clubs.Go for the next one,confusing everyone,denying every rumour,and sealing deals secretly is the precious hidden card that you must keep hidden until deals are finally done.Keep it up Mr AW.We know you are good in selecting good players within the resources available and that is why other managers wait on you to point out a player and they hijack the deals with higher offers.

Matias Suarez is a name to mention when it comes to fantastic goalscoring. I think the problem is Arsene cause he may not want to include him in the squad just like Park and Oxlade. Wenger should practise a formation with 2 or 3 strikers.

I totally understand how you came to that conclusion but I think that the real reason for this is not because AW is soft on his players but because Fabregas was, quite simply, the heartbeat of our team for a lot of his time here; at Barcelona, he is one of about a 15 stars so it is much easier for him to be dropped to the bench.
