Szczesny still bullish about Top Four finish – but can’t explain Swansea defeat
The young Pole Wojciech Szczesny has maintained the confidence that Arsenal will still win a Champions League place, and even had a couple of quid on Arsenal to go on and win the Premiership just before Christmas. Since then the Gunners have dropped eight points in the title race and is dropping away from the Top Four, but the 22 year-old is still putting on a brave face.
“I am confident we will get into the top four,” he said. “We don’t deserve to be outside the top four.
“We should be challenging for trophies every year and I believe the results will pick up and we will at least finish in the top four because we have the quality in the squad to succeed.”
But he admits that the recent away losses have been a shock to him, and cannot explain how such things could be happening.
“I have no idea why we can’t win away from home,” Szczesny continued. “The results speak for themselves and we have been really poor away this season. I really can’t explain it.
“We go everywhere and try to do our best but the results don’t go our way. We have talked about it and cannot come up with an answer. We need to sort it out.
“We can’t take many positives out of the Swansea match because we lost the game and we are disappointed about it.
“Credit to Swansea – I thought they were fantastic all over the park, but I am very disappointed.”
So the Gunners are now four points below Chelsea in fourth and they are preparing to stop Man United from inflicting a third defeat in a row this coming weekend. Will another defeat finally dampen the Pole’s confidence? I doubt it!

After a display of abysmal defending at Swansea, Arsenal are in fifth place, leaving a four-point gap between us and fourth-placed Chelsea. We have conceded 25 goals away from home – the WORST total in the Premier League – and won just 13 points out of a possible 33.
Every team has injuries, we always have them, we have only lightweight players. No guts no character. And Wenger has no motivational capabilities whatsoever.
It hasnt got better in 6 years. Wenger doesnt know how to coach a defensive team.

Of course Arsene knows. But he is too loyal to his players, and always keep his promises to his signings as well. Arsene has got to be more ruthless. Remove all those average players like Ramilson, Walcock, etc

It seems that only if Arsenal fail to qualify for the CL will the board consider it a failed season and feel that they need to act. They must be blind not to see that if the team does not qulaify for the CL IT WILL BE TOO LATE TO ACT !! Look at how long Spurs and Liverpool have been pushing with very little success to break into the top 4. If we drop out of that club we’ll be shopping in the rejects bin by comparison and that makes it a lot more difficult to improve. You can forget Samba, Hazard, Goetze, Podolski, M’Vila etc. because they won’t even consider Arsenal any more.

With the signing of new players happened in summer and the way is going to happen in this January. You will be too ambitious to say that we will finish the among the top four. To me we it is very clear that our ambition should be to finish top ten. Let me ask simple question: Which away match do you think Arsenal will win in EPL from January 2012?

The away fixtures do get easier, there’s no United, City, Spurs, Newcastle or Chelsea away in the second half of the season. The question is will the team win the tougher home fixtures because the home form is excellent and win the easier away fixtrues because the opponents are easier or just lose a lot more of both. Judging by the last two away fixtures it’s the latter but we’ll get more signs this weekend against a tough team at home.

They beat Manure at their fortress 3-2 in a sensational game. Last week they beat Fulham 3-1 despite being ten players on the pitch. It is worth noting we failed to beat Fulham despite leading for 85 minutes whilst beating Manure on Sunday is a long shot. COME YOU GUNNERS IT’S TIME TO RECLAIM OUR ARSENAL.
