Alex Song denies he wants to leave Barca to return to Arsenal 33

Posted on May 08, 2013 by admin

The Cameroonian midfielder Alexander Song, has been the subject of many reports in Spain saying that he was unhappy with the amount of playing time he is getting at Barcelona, and would be keen to return to Arsenal to regain his regular place in the team.

But the player himself has now denied any such wish, and although he respectfully says that Arsenal are a very good team, they just don’t quite measure up to Barcelona in the world rankings, and we can’t really disagree with that right now can we?

Song said: “It is a pleasure to be in the club. A lot of people would like to play here, so I’m a lucky person.”

Wenger tells Alex Song to stay at Barcelona 28

Posted on April 19, 2013 by admin

The have been many rumours lately saying that Alex Song is not happy at Barcelona and has been looking for a return to Arsenal after just one season with the Spanish giants.

But Arsene Wenger has made it clear that he is not looking to bring Song back to the Emirates, and has told him to stay at the Camp Nou for another year at least.

Wenger said: “There is no buy-back clause in his contract,”

“I heard that he wants to give it a go for another season, which you can understand because it’s the first season.

Alex Song wants Barcelona to beat Arsenal in Champions League 35

Posted on December 19, 2012 by admin

The ex-Arsenal star Alex Song was surprisingly sold to Barcelona this summer, but is hoping that he is given a chance to return to the Emirates after tomorrow’s Champions League draw, but assures his new team that they will have no problem coming away from Arsenal with a win.

The Cameroon international said yesterday: “Of course I would like to play against Arsenal. For me to go back there, where I had seven magnificent years, would be something very special,”

“If we draw Arsenal I’d be happy to see the fans again and go back to the club, even though if we go there it will be to get the best result possible.

Frimpong hoping to emulate Alex Song’s rise to Arsenal first-team 17

Posted on November 22, 2012 by admin

The Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has only recently returned from injury and Arsene Wenger thinks that he now needs some regular first team football to get himself back into shape. With the midfielders currently at Arsenal’s disposal, Frimpong is unlikely to get much playing time at the moment so Wenger has arranged for the Ghana international to go on loan to Charlton until January.

Strangely enough, Charlton was the team that helped Alex Song improve enough to become an Arsenal first-team regular, and Frimpong is hoping that this loan period help him to emulate Song. Frimpong said: “Hopefully I can follow in Alex’s footsteps.

Bacary Sagna could be next out – He is sick of Arsenal selling our best players 95

Posted on September 06, 2012 by admin

The Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has given a frank interview where he has expressed his unhappiness at Arsenal selling their best players year after year, and it makes it worse when he sees those same players collecting trophies at their new clubs.

He said: “I am the last player from the 2007 starting XI remaining. In May, I watched Manchester City show off. I watched Samir and Gael lifting the trophy.

“That gave me desire for it. Were they right to leave? Yes. But when they left, we didn’t know. I expected the departure of Robin van Persie. We all expected it. It was ‘obvious’.

Diaby: I’m not replacing Alex Song – I want to attack! 34

Diaby says he is Arsenal’s Yaya Toure not Alex Song by AM

Abou Diaby has hogged the limelight with his superlative performance against Liverpool. Following Alex Song’s departure to Barcelona, there were questions about who is going to take up the role vacated by him. Diaby says that Coquelin and Arteta are the ones who will step into Song’s shoes, while he will be Arsenal’s Yaya Toure. The Frenchman said – “In our teams, Yaya Toure and me have similar roles. I am not Alex Song. We have many players who can take his place like Francis Coquelin or Mikel Arteta, who likes to play deep. I want to get forward – that’s me.

Are Arsenal being punished by the Deins? 89

David Dein was an integral figure in the rise to dominance of Arsenal in the last 30 years. He was vice-chairman of the Gunners between 1983 and 2007 but had to leave the club for reasons that are arguable. There is a school of thought that believes that Dein was forced out of Arsenal and that his son, Darren, is pursuing a vendetta against the club or the current board now.

Darren Dein is a qualified solicitor who works primarily as an advisor/agent to some high profile footballers. His clients include; Thierry Henry, Gael Clichy, Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie and ( drumroll ) Alex Song. It may be a coincidence that all of his clients who play for Arsenal decide that they want to move on, but it is noticeable.

Wenger agrees that Alex Song could leave Arsenal 94

Posted on August 17, 2012 by admin

It now looks to be likely that Arsenal are going to be losing their influential midfielder Alex Song after Arsene Wenger refused to rule out the possibility of the Cameroonian leaving the club, despite still having three years left on his contract at the Emirates.

Wenger had said earlier this week that Arsenal hadn’t received any bids for Song, but obviously Barcelona believe they are in with a chance of taking him back to Spain as they sent a delegation over on Wednesday to talk to the Gunners management.

Arsenal to replace Alex Song with Lucas Biglia? 87

Posted on August 16, 2012 by admin

Troubled times, Troubled times. There was a time earlier in this transfer window that Arsenal fans were expecting that Arsene Wenger was going to bring in Yann M’Vila or Lucas Biglia as a backup for Alex Song, or at least one of them to become the holding midfielder while Song moved into a more forward position as an attacking midfielder.

Now things seem a lot less clear, and with the rumours seeming convinced that Song is on his way to our hated enemies Barcelona, it looks like Biglia is now going to be a straight replacement for the Cameroonian. Could this be possibly true?

Barcelona bosses arrive in London to bid on Arsenal’s Alex Song? 58

Posted on August 16, 2012 by admin

After the news about Robin Van Persie, Arsenal fans are now bracing themselves for another shock as the news that a delegation from Arsenal arrived in London yesterday to begin negotiations with Arsenal about their midfielder Alex Song. Sending RVP to Manchester has made United the favourites for the title in the Football betting on Top Bet and losing Song will push Arsenal even lower down in the betting.

Arsene Wenger made a statement the other day saying that he hadn’t received any bids for the Cameroon international but it seems that is about to change today as Wenger fights to keep one of his most influential players from last season. In fact the Twitterati are alive with rumours that Song is as good as already in training with the Catalans.

Tired Of The Media Tapping Up Arsenal Players

Getting fed-up with the media having a tendency to circulate stories about Arsenal players more than any other? Yes, me too.

Yet another individual in the footballing world has been quoted having his say about the Barcelona and Alex Song situation.

Barcelona junior Franck Songo’o has backed their bid for Arsenal midfielder Alex Song.

“Song is very good. [He] plays more as a defensive midfielder but can also play in the centre. He has lots of character, [is] very strong and is a leader on the pitch,” the 25-year-old told COM Radio.

Alex Song admits interest – but is happy at Arsenal 47

Posted on August 13, 2012 by admin

There have been numerous rumours linking the Arsenal midfielder Alex Song with a move to Barcelona, but there has been no official confirmation from either side, except the usual unsavoury tapping up be the Barcelona players.

Now today, Song himself has confirmed that there has been interest in him (and mentions Barcelona) but he has announced that he is very happy playing for Arsenal.

“I am not going to lie if I said there is no interest but I am at Arsenal and I am happy at Arsenal,” he said on Sky. “Barcelona are the best team in the world, and speculation will always continue until the window closes.”
