Djourou to return in time to face Blackpool (we hope!) 18

Posted on August 18, 2010 by admin

Arsenal’s lack of centre-backs was highlighted yet again when newboy Laurent Koscielny was sent off against Liverpool last Sunday, and it has been assumed that either the inexperienced Havard Nordtveit would be thrown into the fray against Blackpool, or Alex Song would be played out of position as cover.

But today’s Telegraph has reported that Johan Djourou is in line for his first Premiership start for over a year after recovering from a “minor hamstring injury” sustained in the Emirates Cup match against Celtic. Djourou missed the whole of last season through injury but at least had some playing time in the run up to the Emirates Cup.

Arsenal rumours June 24th – Alex Song, Mesut Ozil, Bougherra and Pablo Sarabia 40

Posted on June 24, 2010 by admin

Arsene Wenger has had a great view of all the best players at the World Cup, so most of the Arsenal transfer rumours today are focused on players that are performing well in the competition, but the problem is that other scouts can see the Arsenal players on show too!

Franck Rijkaard, the Galatasary manager, is also at the tournament, and the Turkish papers are saying that he is keen on signing Alex Song and will offer the 22 year-old a three-year contract with an enormous wage packet. The problem lies when they go on to say that they are only going to offer Arsenal £4m. I can just imagine Wenger’s reaction if someone brought him an offer like that…..

Bendtner still confident, but Alex Song’s Cameroon in disarray 6

Posted on June 19, 2010 by admin

Todays game between Denmark and Cameroon should be a chance to see Alex Song and Nicklas Bendtner play in direct opposition, but it is now doubtful whether they will both be on the pitch.

Bendtner played against Holland for an hour despite his groin injury, but is still hopeful he can play some part of todays match as well. He thinks that his Denmark team were a little unlucky in the 2-0 loss to Robin Van Persie’s team, and they can make up for that defeat today.

Arsenal v Burnley team news – Arshavin and Denilson back, Campbell, Gallas and Song unavailable 12

Posted on March 04, 2010 by admin

Ahead of this weekends game against Burnley, Arsene Wenger has admitted there are mixed fortunes on the injury front.

It looks like a simple game on paper, given Burnley’s away form this season, but Wenger would prefer to have his best players available to keep Arsenal’s title push on track.

The good news is that Andrei Arshavin should have been rested enough by now, and is practically certain to be in the squad, and (maybe not such good news for some Arsenal fans), Denilson will also be back in contention.

Wenger is worried about Eboue and Song coming back from Africa in one piece! 1

Posted on December 12, 2009 by admin

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is not too worried about losing Alex Song and Emmanuel Eboue while they are away at the African Nations Cup, he’s worried that he may lose them for the rest of the season!

Arsenal never have much luck when their players go off to international matches, and he is worried that the international jinx may come back into play this time around.

“I don’t think January is too detrimental to the Premier League because you play only three games, so you don’t miss the players too much,” explained Wenger.

Sanchez Watt and Alex Song both sign new extended contracts at Arsenal, but no news on Merida 1

Posted on November 24, 2009 by admin

The latest young star to emerge from Arsene Wenger’s awesome academy is the 18 year-old striker Sanchez Watt. He made his first-team debut in the Carling Cup against West Brom earlier this season, and marked the occasion with his first goal for the club too.

He followed that up with another good game against Liverpool, and it seems he has done enough for Arsene Wenger to sign him up on a long-term deal, and it has been announced today that both he and Alex Song have committed their futures to Arsenal.
