The Man Utd midfielder Darren Fletcher has agreed that Arsenal were the better team in the first half on Saturday, but thinks that his team fought back well in the second.
He has previously stated that he was lucky not to have had a penalty given against him for the foul on Arshavin in the first period, and now he says that United were also lucky to have Van Persies goal disallowed at the end, which would have meant the equalizing goal for Arsenal. .......Read the full article here

Eduardo will face the UEFA disciplinary hearing tomorrow to face the charge of deceiving the referee in Wednesday night’s Champions League semi-final against Celtic. The Croatian striker is the first person ever to be charged under rule 10 (1) (c), which gives UEFA the right to revisit incidents containing alleged deceptions, (”deceiving the referee”) even if the referee has seen and acted upon them, in the three years that the law was introduced.
Arsene Wenger and Arsenal have produced a 19-page document in defence of Eduardo as they try to disprove that his “dive” was intentional and also challenge the rule itself. .......Read the full article here

The Man Utd midfielder Darren Fletcher has admitted that he was very lucky that the ref didn’t award a penalty against him in the game against Arsenal.
With the score at 0-0, Fletcher brought Arshavin down inside the penalty area, and Fletcher said: “I went for the challenge and felt I got the ball.
“Maybe I am due a bit of luck, after what happened in the Champions League semi-final last season,” he added, alluding to the sending off against Arsenal last season, which kept him out of the Champions League Final. .......Read the full article here

The Man City manager Mark Hughes saw his new £25m striker Emanuel Adebayor score his third goal in three games to help retain City’s 100% start to the season, and reckons that his improvement is down to the support he receives from the fans at the Eastlands, as opposed to the boos and criticism he received from the Arsenal supporters.
“He was superb again here.” Hughes said. “There was a lot said about Ade as a player and a person, a lot of it negative. But he has come in and is very much wanting to be a success for us. .......Read the full article here

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has launched a stinging attack on Man Utd, saying that their persistent fouling went unpunished by the referee, and is a lot worse for football than the accusations of diving against Eduardo.
He slammed Darren Fletcher after the match, although he refused to name him as the target of his tirade.
“I have seen today players who play only to make fouls but who were never punished,” he said. “Players who make repeated fouls are never punished and get out of the game without a yellow card. .......Read the full article here

Manchester City won their third game in a row today to keep their 100% record for the season so far. The 1-0 win at Portsmouth was won with the only goal scored by the ex-Arsenal striker Emanuel Adebayor, and he has now scored three goals in his three games.
City’s next opponents after the international break are Arsenal, who sold Adebayor to Man City for £25m over the summer, and Adebayor believes his new team can carry on their success against his old club.
He said today: “When I came here all the players were working hard. .......Read the full article here

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been with the club for thirteen years, and is by far the most successful manager in their history.
The Frenchman already has a contract that goes through to 2011, but it has been reported this morning that the board have already decided to offer him an improved deal which will take him through to 2015.

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger gave his responses to yesterday’s disappointment of giving up a lead at Old Trafford, and he has blamed it on the youngsters lack of maturity and experience.
“Football is unpredictable.” he said. “I believe in this team we lack some calmness, maturity and experience when we were in moments where we were not under panic at all. We assessed wrongly two situations.
“The first one, Rooney was no danger to score, there was no need to panic. And on the second one as well. There was not one player of Man United around our players. So it’s lack of communication and still little bit I feel in these situations that we might be lacking a little bit of experience.” .......Read the full article here
