Sagna – We have to win something for Wenger in his last year 11

Posted on August 03, 2010 by admin

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is entering the last year of his contract, and although the Frenchman has said that he won’t start renewal talks with the board until the autumn, Bacary Sagna believes that the team have to prove that they are really capable of winning something to persuade him to stay at the Emirates.

“He has done great work at Arsenal and we want to win things for him,” said Sagna.

“Everything he has given us we need to give him back. That is what we will try to do and it would be great to win something.”

Wenger – We have lost our spine but we still win games! 3

Posted on March 15, 2010 by admin

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger saw his team score the winner in injury time yet again this weekend, and couldn’t help but laugh at the pundits that said beforehand that Arsenal had a “comfortable” run-in as opposed to Chelsea and Man Utd.

“You saw the ‘comfort’ we had out there against Hull.” he said. ” These kind of wins strengthen our belief but I think it is more a consequence of our spot-on attitude. It comes from the desire to win something. This team hasn’t won anything yet: we started to build it three or four years ago and now people are saying, ‘Yes, but what did you win?’

Wenger going to World Cup to find players, and is interested in the Koreans! 4

Posted on March 07, 2010 by admin

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been talking about why he loves to go to the World Cup, and says he will “look at every player he can find”, but he specifically said that he is intrigued by the form of Korean players, as Jung-Si Park has shown that they can adapt to the Premier League.

“I know that the Korean players in England are doing very well and of course it excites a little bit your curiosity,” Wenger said.

“The Korean players have done one important thing. There are very few Asian players who have made it in Europe and especially the Premier League but the Korean players look to adapt very well.”

Gazidis – Wenger is the key to Arsenal’s success 8

Posted on March 02, 2010 by admin

On the day it was announced that Arsenal have moved above Chelsea in the football revenue rich list, the Arsenal Chief Exec Ivan Gazidis says that the club’s ongoing success is purely down to the manager Arsene Wenger.

“I think it is very difficult to encapsulate in any succinct way what Arsène Wenger has done for this club,” says Gazidis.

“His discipline and his vision are why we are in a new stadium and why we are redefining the way the game can be played. He has created a young squad that has a tremendous future without having the resources that some other teams have.

Wenger – The referee was incompetent or dishonest! 19

Posted on February 19, 2010 by admin

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is likely to fall foul of FIFA after another astonishing attack on Martin Hansson, who refereed the Champions League match in Porto on Wednesday.

Wenger calls him “incompetent” three times, and even goes so far as to suggest that if he isn’t incompetent, he’s dishonest!

FIFA are practically guaranteed to bring Wenger to task for these statements, but Arsene obviously feels extremely annpyed with Hansson to launch an attack like this!

Wenger said: ‘I believe that he is incompetent or dishonest. I prefer that he is incompetent.

Wenger – Don’t blame Almunia, he is under pressure! 17

Posted on February 07, 2010 by admin

Arsene Wenger has sprung to Manuel Almunia’s defence after the Spaniard has been blamed for Arsenal’s defensive problems in the last couple of games, but especially in the defeat against Man Utd.

He thinks that Almunia is being made a scapegoat, and he says that if he really thought he was to blame then he would have no problem in sacking him.

“I am not afraid to make a tough decision,” he says. “My only target is to make the right decision for the club. But after a game like Sunday we have to believe in our players rather than change half of the team. Almunia has done very well recently. People always look for a scapegoat when you lose a big game, you know.”

Wenger – Third place is not a disaster! 14

Posted on February 06, 2010 by admin

After yesterday’s comments from Andrei Arshavin saying that third place in the Premiership should be considered a success for this Arsenal team, it seems that Arsene Wenger agrees with the out-spoken little Russan!

Wenger said: “When you are fighting with Manchester City, Tottenham, Liverpool and Aston Villa you cannot say that because you finished third it is a disaster. It is very important to win trophies but if you do not, you do not go from being fantastic to zero.”

He also defended his policy of playing youth players and reserves in the League Cup and the FA Cup, and again said that winning the League Cup could hardly be considered a success.

Arsenal transfer gossip Jan 26th – Huntelaar, Jan Mucha, Ryan Babel and Arsene Wenger! 15

Posted on January 26, 2010 by admin

The biggest Arsenal transfer rumour this morning comes from the Daily Star, who reckon that the Gunners are still trying to persuade AC Milan to allow Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to come to the Emirates for the rest of the season, as he is struggling to get a game at the San Siro.

They think that Arsenal’s biggest rivals for the Dutchman are Tottenham, and the main stumbling block to the move is the £65,000 a week wages that Huntelaar currently commands in Italy, and the 26 year-old will have to lower his demands if he wants to move to London. Personally, after listening to Wenger’s thoughts on bringing in a striker, I doubt that he will go for this one.

Wenger – Forget the Gallas foul; What about the Bolton fouls on Fabregas? 2

Posted on January 22, 2010 by admin

Arsene Wenger thinks that the media has overplayed the furore over William Gallas’ challenge on Mark Davies, and thinks that they seem to be ignoring the fact that Arsenal should have had a couple of penalties for fouls against Cesc Fabregas, despite them being obvious in the replays of the incidents.

“Fabregas had two clear penalties at Bolton and one or two here,” Wenger said. “At Bolton there was what happened after the penalty claim when they pulled his hair and stood on his neck.

Wenger says the transfer market is like fishing, but he never catches any big fish! 14

Posted on January 12, 2010 by admin

Arsene Wenger has yet again assured that Arsenal fans that he is looking for players in every position (yeah right!) and compares the transfer market to a fishing trip, but it looks like his only signing will be a very old fish in Sol Campbell!

“We are open to new players coming in, and in every position,” Wenger said. “It is a bit like being a fisherman – you try here, you try there.

“You have a list in your head of priorities: one, two, three, four – and you always try to get number one.”

Wenger considering retirement…if he can find a replacement 27

Posted on January 11, 2010 by admin

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has eighteen months left on his contract at the Emirates, and he has admitted for the first time that he is considering his options, but his main aim is to find a suitable replacement for when he leaves.

Having recently turned sixty he knows that he can’t go on for ever, and he told reporters that it is more important that he leaves the club “in good hands” than it is for him to win trophies before he departs.

“I am giving myself a bit of time to think.” he said.

Everton and Bolton join race for Jack Wilshere 2

Posted on January 10, 2010 by admin

Owen Coyle’s old club Burnley have made no secret of the fact that they are trying to presuade Arsene Wenger to let the Arsenal youngster Jack Wilshere move to Turf Moor on loan this month, but now it has been revealed that Coyle is now trying to hijack the move with his new club Bolton.

Today’s News of the World says that Coyle has spoken to Wenger again and has promised that Wilshere will be guaranteed first-team action if he moves north.
