Is Arda Turan perfect for Arsenal? 87

Would Arda Turan be a good signing for Arsenal? by KJ

Twitter has been a bit quiet recently which is unusual considering how close the transfer window is but today it’s livened up a bit with the news that Arsenal are interested in Arda Turan.

He currently plays for Atletico Madrid and at the age of 25 is close to reaching his prime. He’s a very underrated player in Europe in my opinion. I’ve watched him during the Europa League last season and he was brilliant. He’s very good with his feet (almost Cazorla-esque) and is tricky to defend against.

On a day that rumours are going around that the Arsenal captain Robin Van Persie is currently looking for a house up in the North-West of England, there is worrying news that Arsene Wenger has got his eyes on yet another striker to take to the Emirates.

The Spanish paper AS has revealed that Arsenal are considering a bid for the Atletico Madrid hitman Adrian Lopez-Alvarez who had a great season in the Europa League last year with 11 goals in 19 games, but in La Liga he was notably unimpressive with just 7 goals in 37 games…..

There has been contradictory reports about the Fulham goalkeeper this week, with some papers saying that Fulham have rejected Arsenal’s offers, and others saying that the Australian has passed a second medical and will be announced as a Gunner this week.

But the People are certain that the deal will be confirmed this week, and that Almunia is not happy that he is due to be relegated to the bench so will jump at the chance to join Atletico Madrid in a cut-price deal.

Their article said: Fran Mérida, el primero! El Atlético ya se ha hecho con los servicios del centrocampista que abre la nómina de fichajes de la 2010-11. El jugador llegará gratis al Vicente Calderón, acaba contrato con el Arsenal el próximo 30 de junio.

Senderos asks Wenger for January transfer 7

Posted on December 04, 2009 by admin

The Arsenal and Switzerland defender Phillipe Senderos has had enough of being ignored by Arsene Wenger since his return from his loan period at Milan, and is desperate to win back his place in his national team before next summer’s World Cup Finals, so he knows that he will have to leave the Emirates to achieve that goal.

“I have held a meeting with Arsene Wenger and I hope the door has been opened for me to leave Arsenal in January,” Senderos said.

“I need to play regularly if I am to make the 2010 World Cup with Switzerland.

“At the moment I do not have this opportunity and I must now consider my options.”

Merida - Refused new contract

Merida - Refused new contract

The young Arsenal midfielder Fran Merida has been steadily linked with a move to Atletico Madrid next summer, and it is looking more and more likely that he is considering a move away next summer.

Merida is often lauded as being the “new Fabregas” and after a starring performance for Spain in the U20 World Cup recently, he is hotly tipped to be a full Spanish International. So why has Wenger, and the Arsenal management, left it so late to offer him a new contract?

Fran Merida - The new Fabregas?

Fran Merida - The new Fabregas?

The new young Spanish star at Arsenal, Fran Merida, has been compared many times to Cesc Fabregas, and it is expected he will replace him at some point in the future, or at least play alongside him.

Merida came from Barcelona at a young age, just like Fabregas, he plays in the same position as Cesc, and is tipped to gain in place in the full Spain squad one day, and now he is even getting subjected to the same ridiculous rumours linking him to a club in Spain.

Because Timosaura surprisingly knocked out last years UEFA Cup Winners Shakhtar Donetsk last night, Arsenal now knows who they might face in two weeks time.

First of all, this is the list of teams they CAN’T play: Lyon, Sporting Lisbon, Panathinaikos and Stuttgart.
Arsenal and these four teams will now be drawn to play any one of the following five teams: Fiorentina, Atletico Madrid, Celtic, Anderlecht or Timisoura.
