Arsenal target’s move to Chelsea off due to wage demands 49

Posted on December 31, 2012 by Bob

There is no way that Demba Ba will be joining Arsenal, if the reports about the reasons behind the collapse of his transfer to Chelsea are true. Apparently his wages are the problem, suggesting that the 27-year old or his agents want a lot more than the £70,000 a week that the Blues were offering.

It cannot be over the fee because we know that his release clause will be triggered at £7.5 million. Ba is a talented and powerful striker, but Arsenal will not pay over £100,000 a week because of the strict nature of the wage structure. Alan Pardew, the Newcastle manager, is now hoping that he will be able to hold on to his top scorer.

Arsenal about to lose Ba to Chelsea! 42

Posted on December 31, 2012 by Bob

Lots of Arsenal fans were unimpressed with the reports suggesting that the Newcastle and Senegal striker, Demba Ba, was going to be one of the new players arriving at the Emirates in January. Despite scoring 13 goals in 20 league games this season, including two against us on Saturday, many Gooners think he is not good enough for the Gunners.

Well it looks like those people are about to get their wish, as Chelsea have hit the front in the race to sign the powerful striker. The Mirror reports today that Benitez has identified Ba as the man to boost the Chelsea strike force, as Radamel Falcao will be staying at Athletico Madrid for the rest of the season.

Wenger – Newcastle made us suffer and Demba Ba was very impressive 45

Arsene Wenger refused to get into a discussion about Demba Ba’s contract situation before the game, but the Newcastle striker didn’t let the Arsenal rumours affect him and scored two great goals as the Toon restricted Arsenal to 3 goals apiece in the first hour of yesterday’s match.

That Arsenal scored an extra four in the last 20 minutes was probably not a fair end score as Newcastle got tired towards the end, and Wenger admitted that it wasn’t as easy as the scoreline suggests.

Barcelona WILL sell Villa to Arsenal for £16m 93

Posted on December 29, 2012 by Bob

Arsene Wenger has a number of players on his list of transfer targets for Arsenal next month, and a quality striker is thought to be one of his most pressing wishes. The Gunners have been linked with a number of different strikers such as Demba Ba and Fernado Llorente or more tricky players like Adrian Lopez.

The biggest `name` that we have been seriously linked with is the Spanish international striker David Villa. Barcelona have made all the right noises about not wanting to sell the 31-year old, and many of the players have denied reports that Villa is unhappy with his situation at the club. The problem for Barcelona is that Villa is a massive fan’s favourite, so they do not want to be seen to be easing his transfer.

Arsenal may sign Ba despite what Wenger says 57

Posted on December 28, 2012 by Bob

There are reports all over the papers today, declaring that the Arsenal manager has categorically stated that he will not be signing the Senegalese striker Demba Ba from Newcastle United in the January transfer window, but his words have been twisted a little.

Wenger was speaking prior to the game against Newcastle at the Emirates tomorrow, and he did not want to go into the possible transfer of one of the players of the team we are about to face.

“I like Bemba Ba, yes. I don’t think this is the right place to speak about that, because he plays against us tomorrow.

Arsenal must be ready for a fired up Newcastle 39

Posted on December 27, 2012 by Bob

Arsenal may have the advantage of some extra rest days, as well as being at the Emirates on Saturday against Newcastle but if we are not prepared for a hard game, then Alan Pardew’s team could give us a miserable end to 2012. Newcastle were unlucky to get nothing from their trip to Old Trafford yesterday, but were beaten by an injury time winner.

Pardew will take many positives from the game and their performance, not least the fact they scored three away goals. Arsenal will need to start well and defend as a team if we are to make sure that we don’t slip up. Newcastle have had a hard season so far, with injuries to key players such as Yohan Cabaye causing them problems.

Demba Ba speaks out on Arsenal link ……again! 67

Posted on December 27, 2012 by admin

The Newcastle striker Demba Ba was told off by his club last week for saying that a move to Arsenal would “be a dream” but he can’t seem to stop talking about the Gunners every chance he gets!

After saying yesterday that he didn’t think a move to Arsenal was likely, today he is saying there is “not much” between the two parties, but he likes the idea of moving to a club with “more French”

“Arsenal is a club that has not won the title for a long time, but it is true that this is a club that attracts every footballer,” Ba said. “But as I said and repeated, these are the people who talk in the newspapers because for the moment, between me and Arsenal, there is not much.

Demba Ba rules out Arsenal move 59

Posted on December 26, 2012 by admin

The Newcastle United striker Demba Ba has long been considered a live transfer target for Arsenal in January, especially as he has a minimal buy-out clause of just £7.5 million if he moves in January.

Although Ba himself recently admitted that a move to Arsenal “would be a dream”, but obviously there are sure to be many other teams interested at that price. One of these is said to be Ba’s boyhood team PSG in France, but in talking about a possible move to the French capital, he also let slip that he would NOT be joing Arsenal next month.

He said: “‘I look at PSG as a fan, as a supporter,”

Should Arsenal sign Ba? by KJ

There have been reports today that Demba Ba will sign for Arsenal on the 1st January. I’m sceptical to say the least and I’m actually pretty disappointed that this is the best we can come up with.

I have nothing against Demba Ba; he’s a very decent goal scorer who is working wonders at Newcastle. He’s in the prime of his life and would obviously want the big move to a European team. However, I don’t feel Arsenal are the right team for him and I don’t think he’s the right player for us.

Arsenal Team ethic starting to pay off 77

Posted on December 24, 2012 by Bob

It was hard for Arsenal fans to lose Robin van Persie in the summer, and it has seemed that the new strikers would not be up to the task of supplying the goals needed to keep us, at the very least, in the top four of the Premier league, but Arsenal are currently in fourth position and are showing signs of getting better, as well as being in the next round of the Champions league.

I am not saying that any one of Giroud, Podolski, Walcott or Gervinho is as good a striker as van Persie, that would be foolish. However, the fact that we are not reliant on one striker is starting to pay off and may actually have improved the team. The Gunners are more of a unit now, and everyone is chipping in with goals.

Arsenal Debate: Would you prefer David Villa, Ba or Huntelaar? 138

Are Arsenal in for David Villa? by KJ

It’s no secret that Arsenal are in desperate need for a striker. Giroud by all accounts has struggled to adapt and his goal scoring form is non-existent. There have been vague rumours that Arsenal are interested in the likes of Huntelaar and Ba. Huntelaar personally is an average striker at best and will be found out if we sign him. His goal scoring form although admirable should be credited to the rest of his team mates. They have to carry him as he does nothing throughout a match before netting one here or there. That’s good enough for a team that wants top 4 but not for a team that wants to contend for the title. Ba on the other hand just doesn’t really excite me. Nothing about him makes me feel “he’s a brilliant player and I’d love him at Arsenal”.

Arsenal eyeing top-class striker for January transfer window 64

Posted on October 11, 2012 by admin

There are reports this morning that Arsene Wenger has instructed his Arsenal scouts to identify a top-class striker to be brought in during the January transfer window, with Fernando Llorente, Adrián López, Robert Lewandowski and Stevan Jovetic reported to be top of his wish-list.

Although Wenger has been experimenting with different players in the centre-forward role, the Frenchman has realised that only having Olivier Giroud as his only out-and-out hitman could be a negative in the second half of the season if Arsenal are going to aim to challenge on all fronts against the much deeper squads of Chelsea and the two Manchester clubs.
