The Daily Mirror has announced this morning that the Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh has confirmed that he is moving to Arsenal in the summer, and he will be facing “the biggest challenge of his career”.

The Morrocan striker refused to go into details as he says he prefers to concentrate on trying to win the Champions League trophy with Bordeaux. Of course with both clubs still letf in it, there is a possibility he could find himself playing against his future team-mates in the next round.

It seems that Fran Merida may not be the only Arsenal youngster leaving the Emirates this summer, since it was revealed tonight that Bordeaux have been courting the young French striker Gilles Sunu, and seemingly persuading him to return to his homeland on a free transfer this summer.

The seemingly never-ending saga of Marouane Chamakh’s move from Bordeaux to Arsenal is now looking more and more certain. Chamakh admitted last week that if he had the choice on where to move in the summer, he would choose the Emirates, and it seems that Wenger has now confirmed that he still likes the Morroccan striker, but fell short of admitting it was a done deal.

Having bought the Bolivian lad Samuel Galindo, it seems that Arsenal will now have to park him somewhere while they work on getting him a work permit for the Premiership. The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger recently admitted that he came close to signing the Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh in the summer, and said that he may consider another move for the in-form striker.

Wenger said: “He is a player we were close to signing, but at the moment we have lost a little bit of touch with him because there is no transfer period now. We might reconsider the position if it is needed in January.”
