Time for Wenger to tie up Chamakh? 15

Posted on November 28, 2009 by admin

With the news that Robin Van Persie will be out for the rest of the season, will Arsene Wenger finally realise that he needs to draft another striker into the Arsenal team?

Could it be possible that Wenger has already come to an arrangement with the Bordeaux striker for him to move to the Emirates at Christmas?

Chamakh said the other day: “I just want to achieve a great season with Bordeaux and maybe then sign for a club in the Premier League.

“However it would be fine moving in January for a fee so everyone could take advantage of the transfer.”

The Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh saw his team qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League, but still reiterated that he wanted to move to the Premiership next year, and if it would help Bordeaux to get a transfer fee then he would even move in January.

It seems that the reported interest from Juventus has not stopped him wishing to move to England, probably as he scored in a 2-0 win over the Italian team in the Champions League.

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger recently admitted that he came close to signing the Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh in the summer, and said that he may consider another move for the in-form striker.

Wenger said: “He is a player we were close to signing, but at the moment we have lost a little bit of touch with him because there is no transfer period now. We might reconsider the position if it is needed in January.”

Chamakh himself then decided to put off speculation by saying that he will put off any decision until Christmas, when the Champions League Group stages are decided.

Arsenal to get Chamakh for £1.5m in January? 9

Arsenal didn’t look like they needed any new players today, even with all the injured players out, and when Arsene Wenger has a fully fit squad to choose from they should be capable of competing against the best.

But the latest Arsenal transfer news is that Marouane Chamakh is still waiting for his chance to join the Gunners just won’t go away, but is there room for him in the team at the moment?

The Daily Mail seems to think it is a done deal. They reported tonight: Marouane Chamakh’s tortuous transfer from Bordeaux is now likely to be completed in January with Arsenal still the most likely club to sign him, despite interest from Juventus.

Marouane-ChamakhThe Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh is still in the thoughts of the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, and he has admitted that he came very close to signing him this summer.

Bordeaux were looking for £12m for the versatile striker but Wenger only offered £5m as he was entering the last year of his contract, knowing full well that he could sign him for free if he waited 12 months.

Could Chamakh choose Juventus over Arsenal? 14

The Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh was forced to stay at Bordeaux for the last year of his contract but he has always made it clear that he will definitely be a free agent next summer, and his favoured destination was always to join Arsenal.

He slammed Bordeaux when they refused Arsenal’s bid of £6m when the club valued him at £12m, even though he was in his final year.

He said: “Going to Arsenal is my dream,”

“I am at the end of my contract and the club want to turn this into a money issue. What the club are asking for is not fair.

So the last day of the transfer window is upon us, and the press are getting desperate to find players to link with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

They have been pushing the Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh all summer, but has Wenger finally taken the bait. We shall know for sure by midnight tonight.

Chamakh gave us a little teaser last night by saying “Yes, indeed, my representatives were in London. Maybe the offer has come too late.

I am focused on Bordeaux, but you never know what can happen. Let us say there is a 90 per cent chance that I will stay and a 10% chance that I will leave.”

The Fabregas to Barcelona saga goes on, with the Barca president Joan Laporta basically saying that his club will never give up on trying to sign the Arsenal star midfielder.

“I apologise if I bothered Mr Wenger, because I respect him very highly and the job he is doing,” said Laporta.

“But he knows perfectly that the case of Cesc Fabregas is special. He is a Catalan player from our youth team and it is not a secret that we love this player.”

Chamakh will join Arsenal next summer – for free! 4

It seems that Bordeaux have made a costly error by not accepting Arsenal’s bid of £6m for their striker Marouane Chamakh, as it appears that the player has decided to finish his contract at Bordeaux and join Arsenal next summer for free. He is only 25, so he still has years ahead of him, and he will command a much higher wage if Wenger doesn’t have to pay Bordeaux a transfer fee.

Wenger said when he offered £6m for Chamakh: “In five months, if he doesn’t prolong his contract, Chamakh will be free to talk to any club and Bordeaux won’t get anything. In the current context, to me, it is over.

Arsenal rumours Aug 20th – Chamakh, Dzsudzsak, Bendtner and Hangeland 0

Now that Arsenal are halfway to earning another squillion pounds from being in the Champions League proper, i fully expect Arsene Wenger to buy at least one more player, but todays rumours are mostly about who will NOT be joing the Gunners.

The Fulham defender Brede Hangeland fully expects to remain at Craven Cottage next season, which is not surprising really as Roy Hodgson and Asene Wenger have already both said that there have been no discussons between them. He said: “I’m not going to sit here and lie – you do think about these things. I thought about it a lot when I was with the national team, when there was a lot of talk.
