Wenger – Arsenal need to strengthen but the competition is very hard 65

Posted on May 20, 2013 by admin

There has been much talk of Arsenal’s record amount of funds in the transfer kitty this summer, but with the current squad ending the season with a brilliant ten-game unbeaten run Wenger seemed to hint that there is not much need for reinforcements to be brought in.

“In the last three months, I believe we have been remarkably consistent.” Wenger said: “We won every away game so it’s a good springboard for next season, to transfer that belief into the start of next season. That means we need stability and to strengthen our group if possible. There are many clubs out there with a lot of money so the competition is very hard. There’s not as much talent as money today in football.”

Ramsey and Arteta partnership the reason for Arsenal’s new consistency? 58

Posted on May 10, 2013 by admin

Considering that both Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey are both integral pieces of the Arsenal side this season, it may come as shock to most Gooners to find out that that they have only played together in the centre of midfield for the last seven games, and surprisingly enough that has resulted in zero defeats and five wins!

Obviously it would be simplistic to say that that is the ONLY reason for our current form, but with a solid settled midfield any good team is harder to beat. Even Ramsey is happier now he is back in his favoured position, and with Arteta playing deeper it has allowed the Welshman to be pivotal in moving the ball forward.

Arsenal’s winning run gives me confidence for next season 23

The last two months may point the way to Arsenal success by FD

Although eventually winning the league title at a canter, Man U hardly set the football world alight in the first half of the season. By common consent, they managed to accumulate a healthy number of early points largely because of the generally sub-standard form shown by most of the other Premiership teams. But gradually, by gaining those points, their belief grew and their overall play improved.

It’s often said you have to learn how to “win ugly” if you want to stay at the top.

Why Arsenal WILL be challenging for honours next year!! 65

Posted on May 01, 2013 by Bob

Santi Cazorla has been one of Arsenal’s most consistent players this season, but the Spanish international knows that the team as a whole has not been nearly consistent enough this season. The talented midfielder attributes that to the team getting used to each other early in the season and is sure we will do a lot better next time.

The Gunners are actually top of the form table for the last six games, with four wins and two draws, while over the last 10 games we are joint top with Manchester United. That has propelled us up the Premier League table into strong contention for a top four finish and suggests to Cazorla that Arsenal will put up a much better challenge for honours next season.

Arsenal’s consistency will carry us to the Champions League as usual 20

Arsenal soon to be a non-top 4 team? Don’t count on it by Matt

Today Arsenal faces their biggest challenge for the remainder of the season in a game that could decide their Champions League fate. For years now pundits have predicted that Arsenal were soon to be a non-top 4 team. That their decline was inevitable and that they would have to make way for one of the up and comers like Manchester City.

I remember predictions from as long ago as 2008 that Arsenal’s best days were behind them and that they would be the first of the Grand Slam “top 4 teams” to drop out and start regularly landing outside the top 4.

Seaman worried about Arsenal but Dein confident of spending plans 55

Posted on April 10, 2013 by admin

There are lots of interesting quotes about Arsenal flying around this morning and one of them is from the Gunners legendary goalkeeper David Seaman, who thinks that Arsenal are in a great run of form, but worries that they may not be able to perform consistently enough with this batch of players that are changed every year.

Seaman remembers the good old times when Arsenal were always title challengers. He said: “Almost every year we were winning things. I have got nine winners’ medals and quite a few runners-up ones as well and to see what is happening now is so frustrating,”

Sagna says it’s time for Arsenal to step up 19

Posted on December 06, 2012 by admin

The Arsenal and France defender Bacary Sagna is not too worried about the Gunners recent blip in form and thinks that they can pull themselves back to the top.

He can’t understand why the Gunners have been throwing games but he is sure – with hard work – they will return to their previous heights. “We just need to be wiser,” Sagna said. “We have had the opportunity to win games, and for some reason we don’t.

“We need to work on it. We need to stay focused on the pitch and we need to work harder during training sessions. If we do that everything will be fine. I don’t worry about it.

Adam Kemp – Top Four will be a miracle for Arsenal! 77

Posted on November 25, 2012 by admin

Adam Kemp – At least I’m consistent unlike the Arsenal!

Many of you love to ask me ‘why do you never write anything when we win?’ Well if we won on a consistent basis and actually played the old Arsenal way I may just do that! After the apparent 5 – 2 demolition of Spurs last weekend and the midweek win over Montpellier I bet you were all really excited. To be honest that win over Spurs was only achievable due to the sending off of Adebarndoor! If he was not dismissed then the result probably would have been different! Against Montpellier we were flat and got some luck with the goals. Giroud had a good game creating the goals and to be honest he was again the only player who was any decent today!

Vermaelen – I am confident that Arsenal will be even better next season 35

Posted on April 10, 2012 by admin

Thomas Vermaelen is very happy with Arsenal’s current form, and believes that they can carry their more consistent run of wins into next season and make a real challenge for the Premiership title.

“In some games we have shown a lot of quality and that we can compete with everybody,” said Vermaelen. “But you have to be consistent in the league and sometimes that’s not been the case for us. But we will try to do that better next year. I’m confident we can do that.

The Importance of a Top Four finish to Arsenal 53

The attraction of top 4 by KJ

Arsenal has been consistent according to Wenger since the beginning of his tenure. In respect to Champions league, he’s correct. Arsenal have qualified for Europe’s top tournament for 15 consecutive seasons.

Arsenal again look favourites to secure a Champions league place and I distinctly remember some fans that were desperate to see us fail in our endeavours for Champions league this season so it could teach Wenger a ‘lesson’. What lesson I don’t know but it was a hilarious proposition nonetheless. To think some people thought it would somehow help the club by being out of Europe’s top competition.

Arsenal should not underestimate the value of Theo Walcott 57

The Theo question: by SV

Saturday was a perfect display of how frustrating Theo can be, and also of how devastating and penetrative he can be. He suffered a poor start to the game though, if I’m honest, I think that how poor the start was is being greatly exaggerated. In the second half, however, he came into his own and quite simply tore Spurs to pieces. The debate is whether or not Arsenal should keep the speed merchant for his quality, or ship him out for his supposed inconsistency.

Wenger – Other than Chelsea and Man Utd, we’ve only lost twice, so we ARE consistent! 10

Posted on March 13, 2010 by admin

Arsene Wenger won’t think that his Arsenal team are not worthy Champions if they lift the title, despite losing all four games against the other two challengers, Chelsea and Man Utd, and he thinks that the Premier League as a whole has improved considerably from last season.

“In the Premier League this season the top teams have lost more games, but that’s had no consequences in Europe.” Wenger said.

“We have not been weakened internationally and that means the Premier League has maybe become stronger.

“People say we have easier fixtures than Chelsea and United because they play each other.
