Wenger – I am staying at Arsenal for another year at least 26

Posted on February 23, 2013 by admin

Due to Arsenal’s (many) disastrous performances this season, many fans have called into question whether he is still the right man to lead Arsenal Football Club at this moment in time, and think that if Arsenal don’t even manage to snatch Fourth Place this season then the (once) great man should stand down in the summer.

But Wenger himself is adamant that he will not resign and has never considered it, and as his current contract runs for another 16 months he will still be at the club until at least that time.

Wenger rubbishes reports of a new Arsenal contract 45

Posted on February 18, 2013 by Bob

Arsene Wenger has denied reports that the Arsenal board have offered him a two year extension to his current contract at the club, and suggested that whoever began the false rumour is trying to damage the Gunners. It was the Sun that ran the story, which Wenger was asked about in today’s press conference ahead of the Champions league tie against Bayern Munich.

Wenger was clearly annoyed, and was keen to get the journalists to talk about the hugely important game tomorrow, rather than something the Frenchman regards as scurrilous invention.

“This is the wrong information.

Theo Walcott’s contract agreement has given Arsenal new confidence 17

Posted on February 10, 2013 by admin

The seemingly never-ending saga of Theo Walcott’s contract extension would appear to have been a major factor in Arsenal’s inconsistent form in the first half of the season, but now that it has been settled in January the Gunners have shown a new resilience and confidence as a team.

Arsenal have now won four of their last five games, with the other being the hard-fought 2-2 draw against Liverpool, and they are closing in on the coveted Top Four place. These games have been far from easy victories (as shown by yesterday’s 10-man win against Sunderland) but they certainly seem to have regained their spirit to win whatever the circumstances.

Arsenal looking for Sagna replacement? by AH

Now the transfer window may have only just closed but transfer news and rumours continue to happen throughout the year. Today the Daily Mail is reporting that Arsenal have begun to lookout for a right back as they look to replace Bacary Sagna. The club is reportedly worried about his performances in recent weeks and believe he has become disinterested for the club, posing a threat that he could be the next in line for the Emirates exit door.

What should Arsenal do about Sagna and Jenkinson? 62

Posted on January 26, 2013 by Bob

Arsenal have learned from previous situations with Robin van Persie and others and have worked hard to ensure that no players are allowed to enter the final years of their contracts. Now that the deal with Theo Walcott is complete, Bacary Sagna is the player next on the list for a renewal. The French right back has declined to agree to a new deal so far, however, and could be sold in the summer. This leaves Arsene Wenger with a dilemma about how to deal with Sagna and his understudy Carl Jenkinson.

Walcott The Pressures On YOU! by AH

Arsenal yesterday announced that Theo Walcott has agreed a new contract with the club. The contract is understood to be 3 and a half year deal on £95,000 a week with various signing on bonuses that will make him the clubs highest played player.
On signing a new contract Theo Walcott said:

“I am very happy to have signed a new contract here at Arsenal. Thanks to everyone for their continued support, especially the manager, everyone at the club and most importantly the fans. I have made it clear from the start that I wanted to stay at Arsenal so I am pleased we have agreed a deal that everyone is happy with. What’s important now is for the team to realise its potential and win trophies.”

Does Sagna have a future at Arsenal? by JM

With our core of British players that Wenger is building ‘this years team of the future’ around all committed to the club on long term contracts, including young Carl Jenkinson, does Bacary Sanga feature in Wenger’s plans with his contract due to run out at the end of the season.

Arsene Wenger has been busy of late tying our young British players down to long term contracts with mixed reactions, mainly concerning Aaron Ramsey being included and the reported size of Theo Walcott’s deal.

OFFICIAL Walcott Finally signs new Arsenal contract 122

Posted on January 18, 2013 by Bob

Arsenal Football club have announced an end to the longest running contract saga in ages. The Walcott has signed a new contract with the Gunners that is described as long term. There are no specific details about the terms of the contract on Arsenal’s official website, but it is believed to be for another three and a half years.

The new policy of Arsenal not allowing players’ contracts to enter the lest two years means that negotiations will be starting again in a year or so. In a way, it might be a good thing for the club, because Theo will know that he has to prove his worth as a central striker now, and quickly. I think he will do that and this deal will prove to be a great one for the Gunners. Arsene Wenger is obviously delighted as well as relieved that the deal is finally done.

Is Walcott waiting to see who Arsenal buy before signing? 45

Is Walcott waiting on the transfer window before committing? By Twig

The Walcott contract saga has undergone many phases with words such as “frustrated”, “scared”, “cautious”, “urgency”, “optimistic” and “99 percent certain” being used to describe the impasse on numerous occasions. Recently, Wenger has been sounding more confident, but the fact is that Walcott still hasn’t signed. From Wenger’s comments it appears that Arsenal has done its part and it’s now only left to Walcott to end the saga. It is also bad for the club because with the Walcott contract still hanging in the air, Arsenal cannot wholeheartedly pursue other targets.

Walcott is done deal Now for some signings! But Who? 143

Arsenal and Theo Walcott have finally come to an agreement over the flying 23-year old’s new contract. It is either signed already or will be tomorrow, so the Gunners can now focus on bringing some new quality players to the club. Arsene Wenger would not have said the deal was almost done unless he was convinced, so Arsenal can finally put the long running saga behind them and look to the future.

Wenger has revealed that there were times during the negotiations when he thought that Walcott might be moving on, and he was probably heavily involved in making sure that did not happen.

West Ham want Diame to reject Arsenal 56

Posted on January 16, 2013 by Bob

There have been reports this week the Arsenal are looking to add the all action 25-year old midfielder Mohamed Diame to the Gunners squad this January, but his manager at West Ham thinks he should turn down the move. Sam Allardyce declared that Diame would not get a game at Arsenal so there would be no point in joining, which made me wonder why he was even bothering to say that if, as he claims, West Ham have had no contact with Arsene Wenger or his staff.

Walcott is Holding up Arsenal Transfers! 98

Posted on January 16, 2013 by Bob

Arsene Wenger has money to spend on the Arsenal squad, apparently, and he and his staff are working hard to identify and secure the right players for Arsenal. The boss will not discuss just what sort of players or positions he is thinking of, because he keeps his transfer dealings a secret as possible, but it does not look as if he will finalise any transfer until the Theo Walcott contract situation is settled.

“We are working very hard.

“First of all we want to sort out the injuries we have, and we are trying very hard to close the deal with Walcott. Once we have done that, we will certainly do something else. At the moment I cannot tell you more.
