Southampton 1 – 1 Arsenal, a woeful performance
I’m in utter shock. After our 7-3 thrashing of Newcastle on the weekend, I was sure we’d get a solid result at St Mary’s today and really put pressure on the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea. But yet again when the going got tough, we bottled it.
We started off the game really well surprisingly and were forcing Southampton into making quite a few mistakes. However, we didn’t make it count and for the 30 minutes it was all Southampton. In Arsenal’s last four League games the Gunners have scored the first goal of the game, but only against QPR did they manage to hang on for a 1-0 and even then they didn’t do it comfortably. Aganist Wolves at home you would have expected the Gunners to kick on after taking the lead in the eight minute, but that one ended in a 1-1 draw.
Then last week against Fulham, Arsenal went 1-0 up after 21 minutes but, lo and behold, they conceded two goals towards the end because as Wenger said “they were tired”, and today, when NO-ONE could possible be tired, they screwed up again against Swansea. .......Read the full article here
