Arsenal will play host to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, with the winners getting a place in the quarter finals of the FA cup. For Arsenal, with an extremely difficult double header in the Champions league against Bayern Munich, this competition surely represents the best chance of finally adding another piece of silverware to the Emirates’ trophy cabinet.
Arsenal are also involved in the battle for a top four spot in the Premier league and a place in Europe’s top competition next season. Blackburn, however, are in a similar struggle in the championship. They travelled to play-off rivals Brighton last night sitting just four points outside the play-off positions, as they seek to bounce straight back to the Premier league. .......Read the full article here
This transfer window seems to be getting crazier and crazier as the closing date approaches with claims and counter claims coming thick and fast.
The latest bit of Arsenal transfer news reported all over the media yesterday was that the Gunners had “opened negotiations” with Birmingham for their big defender Scott Dann, but today there is no hint from anyone that this is happening at all!

The Mail reports that Pat Rice and Steve Crowley were both among the scouts at Tottenham’s training ground yesterday to watch a friendly between Spurs and Birmingham, and to assess Scott Dann’s performance for the visitors.
He was overshadowed by some Spurs youngster’s, especially Harry Kane who scored in hat-trick in just 15 minutes for the home side who won the game 6-3, but the Liverpool-born Dann is also being watched by Kenny Dalglish’s scouts as they weigh up a bid. .......Read the full article here
As predicted on Just Arsenal yesterday morning, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain quickly agreed personal terms with the Gunners yesterday and is now officially an Arsenal player, and we can expect this to be swiftly followed by an official annuncement about the Costa Rican striker Joel Campbell as well.
But all Arsenal Fans are clamouring for the (far more important) big, experienced defender that is desperately needed at the Emirates.
It seems that Christopher Samba’s injury has ruled him out of the running, and Phil Jagielka has no intention of leaving Everton, so the two rumoured top targets are Scott Dann and (as always) Gary Cahill. .......Read the full article here
