Spurs face striker crisis as Arsenal chase top 4 26

Posted on February 04, 2013 by Bob

Arsenal fans were less than impressed by the lack of activity from Arsene Wenger in the January transfer window, but at least we did better than Tottenham. After Gibbs’ injury, at least he strengthened our weakest position. Andre Villas-Boas either didn’t bother, or failed, to buy a new striker, and that has now risen up to bite him on the arse. Their top league scorer with 10 goals, Jermain Defoe, picked up a knock during their game yesterday and they may have to cope without him for about two months.

WE WANT MORE PLAYERS! AND SO DOES ARSÉNE by AH

Arséne Wenger told Arsenal.com that he is still on the hunt to sign more players this summer, but the squad size rules are holding back any potential new signings.

Wenger said;
“We are still looking to add one or two players but it depends also on how many go out because we have to respect the squad, it’s important to respect that so before we get players in we have to get some players out. That has not happened yet, the market is very quiet.”

Clint Dempsey will be a brilliant addition to Arsenal 60

Player Profile: Clint Dempsey by KJ

Since I’ve just put out an article that suggests that Arsenal are interested in Clint Dempsey, I thought it would be appropriate to do a player profile on him.

The American international has an abundance of Premier League experience being a part of Fulham’s team for 6 whole years. Beforehand, he was plying his trade in a relatively unknown MLS until the end of 2005.

Are Arsenal in for Clint Dempsey? by KJ

Twitter today has again exploded at the prospect of another transfer. An account more akin to an ITK announced that Arsenal were in talks with Clint Dempsey and all that’s left is for an official transfer bid to be made.

Here are the quotes from @sport_trend:

#ARSENAL‬: Clint Dempsey will choose Arsenal ahead of‪#Manchester‬‬ United & ‪#Chelsea‬‬ based on a guaranteed playing time, his agent confirmed

#ARSENAL‬: Dempsey’s agent had met with trio clubs on separate occasions before player made his decision. A bid & Fulham’s response next.

Arsenal hot favourites to sign Kalou AND Clint Dempsey! 186

The bookies usually give a very good indication of where a player will end up during the transfer window so I like to have a periodic roundup of where the money is going re: Arsenal transfer targets.

So I’ve just had a quick look at the latest prices across the board, and Skybet have got a bet on Arsenal at just 5/4 to sign Clint Dempsey from Fulham. The dour American has had a brilliant season with the Cottagers and has made it clear that he wants Champions League football next season. There are not many Arsenal fans that would complain about his arrival and the Gunners are hot favourites to do so. Liverpool are second favourites at 5/1 and it is 12/1 bar those two.

Maybe Arsenal should look at Clint Dempsey? 34

Fulham’s outstanding player and top scorer, 29-year old Clint Dempsey, is not the sort of player normally associated with Arsenal, but I think he could add something to the Gunners strike force. His tough, combative style, versatility and proven goalscoring in the Premier league could provide Arsene Wenger with an alternative when the passing game is not getting results.

Dempsey has put out feelers to the top clubs by telling Sports Illustrated “I am grateful for everything Fulham have done for me…but the fact remains that I want to play in the Champion’s league. I want to play at the highest level possible.” Paris Saint- Germain are interested but I think he would prefer to stay in England and he would not even need to move if he joined the Gunners.

Injury Problems work against Arsenal and in Tottenham’s favour 81

Arsenal go into the last match of the season knowing that only a win away at West Brom will guarantee them a place in next season’s Champion’s league competition. If Tottenham get a better result against Fulham then they will pip the Gunners to third spot and then the team in fourth will be relying on Bayern Munich to beat Chelsea in the final.

Today there is bad news on both fronts. Arsenal number one Wojciech Szczesney is a serious doubt due to a back injury and Fulham are facing a number of withdrawals. Leading goalscorer Clint Dempsey has a groin injury and Dickson Etuhu, Steve Sidwell and Brian Ruiz are also struggling. Martin Jol is unlikely to risk any of them as Fulham are safe in mid table and have nothing to play for.

Martin Jol – Clint Dempsey not going to Arsenal or anywhere! 25

Posted on May 11, 2012 by admin

Arsene Wenger’s chase for a top striker for the Arsenal team continues as the Gunners are now faced with another closed door after Fulham’s manager Martin Jol dismissed the possibility of star striker Clint Dempsey to leave, despite him so far refusing to sign a new contract.

The American hitman has scored 23 goals this season, and judging that he played for Fulham that is nothing short of a miracle. The goals didn’t only promote him in the top of the best players’ lists this season, but also in the eyes of Arsene Wenger and Kenny Dalglish. And if Wenger went to http://www.partycasino.com/ he could win a jackpot of 5 million, which would surely be enough to tempt Fulham!

Arsenal favourites over Liverpool to sign Clint Dempsey 64

Posted on May 07, 2012 by admin

The Fulham striker Clint Dempsey has had an amazing season at Craven Cottage, scoring 23 goals for the Cottagers (and could yet help Arsenal out this weekend as they face Tottenham in the final game of the season), but it seems he could be on his way to the Emirates next season.

The versatile American international is still refusing to sign a new contract with Fulham, and with just 12 months remaining on his current deal Fulham may have no choice but to cash in on the prolific hitman, and it seems that Liverpool and Arsenal are the front runners for his signature.

Is Clint Dempsey a good fit for Arsenal? 61

Posted on May 05, 2012 by admin

The excellent Fulham midfielder Clint Dempsey has so far refused to sign a new contract at Craven Cottage, and with a brilliant record of 22 goals for the mid-table club this season, is certain to be in demand if he wants to move to a bigger club.

Currently Arsenal are the 5/1 second favourites to sign Dempsey (behind Everton, who have done well with other US players in the past), but surely if Arsene Wenger decided to enter the race for his signature there would be a no-contest against David Moyes side.

Arsenal need to sell Chamakh and Bendtner to get Clint Dempsey 52

Posted on April 12, 2012 by admin

The Fulham hitman Clint Dempsey just seems to get better and better, and with the American approaching the last year of his contract at Craven Cottage there is little surprise that Arsene Wenger is considering bringing him in to Arsenal.

According to the respected UK paper The Telegraph, Wenger was considering making a bid for him last summer but Arsenal’s failure to find any buyer for Nicklas Bendtner at a price of £10m forced the Frenchman to stay his hand.

Arsenal linked with proven Premiership hitman 39

Posted on January 28, 2012 by admin

All Arsenal fans know that Arsene Wenger is in need of a top class striker to act as cover for Robin Van Persie (or even as a replacement if the Dutchman leaves at the end of the season).

So with that in mind, the Metro reports this morning that Arsenal are interested in signing the American hitman Clint Dempsey, who is a proven Premiership goalscorer with 15 goals for Fulham so far this season after the striker admitted that is keen on moving to a bigger club.

The 28 year-old is (like Van Persie) going to enter the last year of his contract in the summer, and Dempsey hinted that he would be keen to move on if the right offer came along. He said: “You should never get content.”
