Sebastian Svard – Denmark (Ghana), 2000-2005, 3 games, 0 goals
Whilst many young Gunners arrive at the club with an enormous promise and buckets of potential, few are signed with reputations as burgeoning as Svard. Bought in November 2000 from FC Kobenhavn’s reserve side, Kjobenhavns Boldklub, the youngster had impressed Arsene Wenger after accomplished performances for Denmark’s youth teams. By the time of his transfer, he had already represented the U16s and the U17s with great distinction.
Whilst the prodigal teenager continued to work his way up the ranks of the national side, performing for the U19s, U20s, and U21s before his twentieth birthday, he found opportunities at Highbury much harder to come by, particularly due to the quality in front of him. .......Read the full article here

The Arsenal right back Carl Jenkinson has pledged his international career to England, despite having appeared for Finland at under 19 and under 21 levels. He is waiting for FIFA clearance, but he could have a long wait if the case of Emmanuel Frimpong is anything to go by.
20-year old Frimpong played for England at under 16 and under 17 level, but decided to pledge his future to the Ghana national team. He made his mind up back in 2009, when he said this.
“No matter what, I will always play for Ghana because, at the end of the day, from what I believe, I am a Ghanaian.” .......Read the full article here

Liverpool and Uruguay striker Luis Suarez is doing brilliantly, if his intention is to alienate people and make as many enemies as possible that is. Arsenal and France defender Laurent Koscielny has become the latest person to join the LSFC (Luis Suarez Fan Club) after he was asked about his favourite and least favourite players by the French newspaper, L’Equipe.
“Who is the forward I hate to face? Suarez. He is tiresome to defend against. He cheats. He pulls your shirt, giving you small blows.
“You always want to give him a kick but you have to be careful not to be red carded. .......Read the full article here

While most Arsenal players were in action in the World Cup Qualifiers this week, there was also the small matter of the Qualifying rounds for the African Nations Cup going on in the African continent.
We all know that Gervinho’s Ivory Coast team didn’t even get to the end of the match thanks to the rioting Senegal fans, but it seems certain that the result will stand and the Ivorians will be confirmed participants in January’s competition. .......Read the full article here

The Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has just returned to training with the Arsenal first team after seven months out injured but he is still hoping that he can get enough quality game time with the Gunners to earn a place in the Ghana team before the African Nations Cup in January.
But for some reason FIFA are dragging their heels in giving permission. It seems that because Frimpong holds a British passport, FIFA are demanding written proof from, not just the English FA, but from Scotland and Wales and as well! The Ghana FA have made the requests to both FA’s a long long time ago, but either FIFA haven’t received the replies, or they are simply causing unneccessary delay. .......Read the full article here

The Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong made his decision to play for Ghana instead of England some time ago, but his international debut has been delayed due to his few injury problems, but also because Ghana need to get clearance from the British football authorities proving that he hasn’t made himself ineligible in any way.
The Director of Communications of the Ghana Football Association, Mr Ibrahim Saanie Daara, has made it clear that it is now only a matter of time before he gets to play his first game for the Black Stars, despite playing for England at U16 and U17 levels, and his first call-up could be for the African Cup of Nations in January. .......Read the full article here

Kwadwo Asamoah is a promising young Ghanaian international, and he impressed watchers at the World Cup, including Arsene Wenger. Now, according to reports in Ghana, both Arsenal and Man City have contacted the player’s manager regarding a possible transfer.
A “source” revealed this information in the Accra Mail in Ghana, but also said that both clubs would need to begin negotiations with Udinese, who will be loathe to lose of the star young players without a fight.
Just a few days ago, Asamoah’s agent Claudio Vagheggi said: “There is interest from a number of clubs. A move to the Premier League is a possibility for the player. But, he [Kwadwo Asamoah] has four years left on his contract with Udinese. .......Read the full article here

The Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah was very impressive at the World Cup and helped his team to reach the quarter-finals, and it is only to be expected that the 21 year-old would attract attention from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Asamoah has been linked with Arsenal for some months now, long before his performances in South Africa, and he said in May that he would be keen to move to the Gunners if they made a firm offer.
His agent Claudio Vagheggi said yesterday: “There is interest from a number of clubs. A move to the Premier League is a possibility for the player. But, he [Kwadwo Asamoah] has four years left on his contract with Udinese. .......Read the full article here

It has been reported in Africa today that Arsenal are considering an official complaint about Michael Essien playing for Chelsea when he should have been on international duty with Ghana.
Essien played against Wolves (and scored twice in the 4-0 win) on November 21st, but under FIFA rules he was ineligible to play for them as he had refused to turn up for Ghana’s friendly game against Angola on the previous Wednesday.
Essien, Sulley Muntari and Asamoah Gyan were all fined £3000 for not turning up. .......Read the full article here
