Giroud’s Arsenal form is scaring former Montpellier boss

One man who knows Olivier Giroud well but will not be pleased at the striker hitting form at Arsenal is Rene Girard, the manager of Montpellier. Girard is well aware of what Giroud can do, as he helped make him the player he is. Girard is hoping that his extensive knowledge of Giroud will help him to prepare Montpellier to stop the Arsenal front man from scoring, but he doesn’t sound overly optimistic.

“Olivier worked very hard for us and we almost sculpted him into the player he is today. We made history at the club and had great times.

Arsenal could consider themselves lucky to come away from Montpellier with all three points last night after the French side launched a second hlaf onslaught on Vito Mannone’s goal, especially when Younes Belhanda, who had early scored a cool penalty, froze with the ball at his feet just two yards from the goal-line.

Montpellier midfielder tips big Arsenal win on Tuesday

Montpellier may have won the French Ligue 1 last season, but they have started this one in terrible fashion after losing Olivier Giroud to Arsenal. After five games this season Montpellier have just four points and lie in 16th place in the League. The 3-1 defeat to newly-promoted Reims this weekend has destroyed whatever confidence they had remaining and they are now scared to death of facing an in-form Arsenal side.

The Montpellier midfielder Younes Belhanda, who was strongly linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, voiced his concerns when he said after the Reims match: “If we play like that against Arsenal, we’ll concede eight goals,”
