Last week against Burnley the Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner missed “chance after chance” (Wenger’s words), but the French manager was always certain that his much-maligned hitman would stay confident and find his scoring boots again.
Wenger said: “I told you how football can change for a player in three days. It goes quickly up and quickly down. And it shows you as well that he has not lost the confidence that he came back tonight with good focus and with the same belief. It is one of his strengths. The Arsenal fans have chose Dennis Bergkamp’s goal against Newcastle in 2002 as the best goal of the DECADE. I just had to put that in capitals because to be awarded an accolade like that is a tribute indeed.
His first place won an amazing 34% of the vote, ahead of Thierry Henry’s brilliant effotf against Man Utd in 2000, and Van Persie’s goal against Charlton in 2006.
