Arsene Wenger has never been a massive fan of the January transfer window, but the increasingly desperate situation at Arsenal, combined with over £35 million burning a hole in his pocket means that he will probably splash out in the new year, and one of those looks like it will be Yoann Gourcuff.
Arsenal have been linked with the French international midfielder before, and reportedly failed in a bid to sign him from his current club, Lyon, last year. He does have three years left to run on his contract with the Ligue 1 side, but they are now prepared to sell him, according to Metro. .......Read the full article here

There have been many reports that Arsene Wenger has set his sights on buying a new striker in the January transfer window as cover/replacement for Olivier Giroud, but most of the Arsenal rumours have been centred on big-money players like Radamel Falcao and Fernando Llorente, but is Wenger really going to splash the cash on top players like that?
I think we all know the answer to that one, so it is much more likely that he will be looking at cheaper options that have the potential to be excellent value in the long run. One striker that has alwways been linked with the Gunners is the Frenchman Yoann Gourcuff, who seems to have lost his way since returning from a long period on the treatment table last season. .......Read the full article here

As the real opening day of the transfer window approaches, I have decided to write a quick post in regards to the latest Arsenal transfer rumours circulating in the media.
There are quite a few players freshly connected with Arsenal, some less likely to be legitimate than others, but bear with me while I list them off.
Alan Dzagoev – Reports have emerged that Arsenal are launching a bid for the CSKA Moscow winger. Life Sports reported that the Premier League power-house have tabled an offer to CSKA for the exciting Russia international midfielder. This may or may not be a legitimate rumour, because other sources are claiming that Fulham FC want to sign Aaron Ramsey. If Arsenal were to table a bid it might be in the 10-14million range. This transfer would be nice (because Dzagoev is world class) but in my opinion, it’s farfetched. .......Read the full article here

Which attacking midfielder should Arsenal roll with next season? by KJ
My last article analysed the possibility of Gourcuff in our midfield and I ultimately came to the conclusion that he wouldn’t be good enough. However, my main reasoning was behind the fact that we have 3 young but accomplished players in Wilshere, Ramsey and Chamberlain.
I’m going to list attributes that I feel the player is better in than the other two candidates he is being compared to:
Wilshere: His best attributes which surpass both Chamberlain and Ramsey are: Passing, dribbling and his first touch.
Chamberlain: His best attributes which surpass both Wilshere and Ramsey are: Pace and strength
Ramsey: His best attributes which surpass both Wilshere and Chamberlain are: Shooting and work-rate. .......Read the full article here

Gourcuff will be leaving Lyon this summer. by KJ
Recent reports suggest that Lyon have transfer listed the out of favour Yoann Gourcuff. Twitter has exploded with the news and there are suggestions that Arsenal could be in for the French midfielder.
Wenger has been a known long-term admirer of Gourcuff and would definitely look into bringing him to the Emirates. However, would that be in the best interest of Arsenal in the long term?
In simple terms, yes. Bringing in another midfielder would just add that extra depth to the team. Gourcuff was once a very highly rated attacking midfielder and only because of long term injuries, has he fallen out with both Lyon and the French national team. .......Read the full article here

There are loads of snippets of Arsenal transfer news about this morning, but most of them seem to be total speculation without any quotes whatsoever, but it is my duty to pass them on to interested Arsenal fans.
The first one has Arsenal and just about every other top Premier League club interested in signing the 16 year-old Santos starlet Victor Andrade. The Brazilian giants though have just got the youngster to sign a new contract with a €50 million buy-out clause built in. As Santos are lining him up to replace Neymar when he finally moves to Europe there is little chance of anyone getting him cheap after that news….. .......Read the full article here

Arsenal’s former star Robert Pires has offered the Lyon’s midfielder Yoann Gourcuff a way out of the situation he’s currently in at the French giants, saying that Arsenal is the best escape route for him.
According to Pires, the best way for Gourcuff to come back into the form which made him highly-coveted a few years ago is by getting a transfer to Arsenal and being guided by Arsene Wenger.
“I know Arsenal well and it would be ideal for Gourcuff. Arsene Wenger rarely fails to help a player, particularly if they are French.”, Pires told French TV .......Read the full article here

Arsene Wenger has been an admirer of the French international midfielder Yoann Gourcuff for many years, since he was a youth player at Rennes in fact, but currently the 25 year-old is languishing on the bench at Lyon and the French press are reporting that Arsenal have arranged a deal with the French giants to take Gourcuff to the Emirates to try and revitalise his career.
Gourcuff’s ill-fated move to AC Milan as a 20 year-old was a disaster but he returned to his former best when he returned to Ligue 1 with Bordeaux which then led to a €22m move to Lyon. .......Read the full article here

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted that he was interested in buying the Lyon playmaker Yohann Gourcuff in the summer, reportedly as a straight replacement for Cesc Fabregas, but he said that he withdrew his interest when he was informed about the French international’s injury.
But today, the Lyon boss Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed that Wenger DID make an offer, but he turned it down because he believed that Gourcuff was committed to making a success of his time at Lyon.

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger admitted he was interested in the star midfielder Yoann Gourcuff in the summer, but the transfer to the Emirates didn’t go through due to Gourcuff’s knee injury.
“I was interested. Then I learned of his medical condition.” said Wenger.
Wenger is expected to go for the player again in January if the Frenchman recuperates from the surgery he underwent on his knee. Gourcuff has yet to play any game in this season for Lyon, but he is expected to be back in January, so the move to Arsenal could still happen if he can prove that he has recovered full fitness. .......Read the full article here

There are still a lot of Arsenal transfer rumours about, but today they all seem to be negatives! To start with we have the Bordeaux playmaker Joann Gourcuff, who has been tipped to rejoin his old strike partner Marouane Chamakh at the Emirates.
The biggest investor in the French giants, Nicolas de Tavernost, stated today that he would rather leave all talk until after the World Cup.
“Contrary to what I have heard, we have the means to keep him at the club next season,” De Tavernost told L’Equipe.
“He can stay with us. There is no reason for him to leave. .......Read the full article here

It has been another busy day for Arsenal transfer news in the papers, some of it positive, some not so good.
We’ll start off with Yoann Gourcuff, who has been widely tipped to bbe Wenger’s marquee signing this summer. The Bordeaux chairman Jean-Louis Triaud, who isn’t happy with the way that Arsenal poached Marouane Chamakh anyway, has categorically stated that any Arsenal move for Gourcuff is simply an invention of the English press.
He said: “I’m not going to comment on anything from the English newspapers,”
“Today, I have received no offer for Gourcuff or anybody else for that matter. We know what the English tabloids are like… .......Read the full article here
