Even though the transfer window is closed the papers are still keeping an eye on what the Arsenal scouts are up to. (I guess they carry on working between windows!) The Telegraph has reported that Arsene Wenger sent a scout up to Celtic Park to have another look at the strong holding midfielder Victor Wanyama in last night’s 3-0 defeat to Juventus.
All the pundits are saying that a top holding midfielder is still top of Arsenal’s priorities for the summer, as Mikel Arteta has been forced to change to that position this season. Wanyama and Etiene Capoue would appear to be the main targets according to most reports coming out of Arsenal, but I would certainly take this one seriously as it comes from Jeremy Wilson in the Telegraph, who seems to have an inside track on what is going on at the Emirates. .......Read the full article here

According to reports this morning Arsene Wenger has decided to reward Alex Song with a massive 20,000 a week pay-rise in recognition of his masterful performances this season, even though the 24 year-old still has two years left on his contract at the Emirates.
Song has been given a much freer attacking role this season and his assist ratio persuaded Arsene Wenger to announce that the Cameroonian international is now one of the best midfielders in Europe and vital to Arsenal’s trophy hunt next season, but his roving attacks has also highlighted the Gunners need for a more defensive minded midfielder as extra cover for his position. .......Read the full article here

As usual, Arsene Wenger is rumoured to be interested in any classy young Frenchman that becomes available, and now he is apparently keen on the PSG midfielder Clement Chantome. This strong holding midfielder is only 22, and it has been previously reported that Arsenal had a bid for him turned down last summer..
The Daily Mirror has reported that Chantome has now become fed up with the management at the Ligue 1 club, and Arsene Wenger is considering making another bid for him this summer.
Chantome himself admitted that Arsenal were close to signing him last summer, but PSG refused to let him go as he still had three years left on his contract. .......Read the full article here
