I watched the Paris Saint_Germain midfielder closely today after Arsenal were reported to be interested in making a move for him in the transfer window this summer. And just like last week, I was not that impressed. Don’t get me wrong, Gooners, the 21-year old Italian international is a good player with some great skills about him, but he is not what the Gunners need.
At 5ft 5in, Verratti would fit right into the Arsenal midfield as it stands and he has two good feet, technical ability and a great range of passing, but Chelsea were finding it too easy to pressure him off the ball. This central midfield position is, for me, the most important transfer for Arsenal this summer and it is one that we simply have to get right. .......Read the full article here
This particular Arsenal transfer saga was not going to be resolved in the January transfer window anyway, but if the reports from Spain are true, at least it will mean that Arsene Wenger can set his sights on to another transfer target.
Because of a long term injury lay-off, Real Madrid and Germany player Sami Khedira might not be able to feature at all this season and may miss the World Cup in Brazil. But before he was injured there were lots of rumours in the Spanish media that Khedira was not happy at the Bernabeu and was looking to leave. He is great friends with Mesut Ozil, so Arsenal fans were hopeful that he could be brought to the Emirates in the summer. .......Read the full article here
There are some players who we hear about needing to keep a certain edge of aggression in order to perform at their best. At Arsenal, you could possibly include Jack Wilshere and Mathieu Flamini in that category, while former captain Patrick Vieira loved a good battle to fire him up.
However, there are other players, like the mercurial Lionel Messi, who play with a smile on their face and seem to play better when they are happy, relaxed and enjoying life. It is in this category that I would place Arsenal’s new superstar Mesut Ozil, so the way he has seamlessly blended into the Gunners team and is looking like he has been playing with his team mates for years, is a sure sign that the German feels happy with his new club. .......Read the full article here
I wonder if Sami Khedira is hoping to join his German international team mate Mesut Ozil at Arsenal. He is certainly going the right way about getting the Arsenal fans on side, describing the Gunners as the best team in the Premier League now we have signed his former team mate from Real Madrid.
It really seems that Arsenal’s new star and assist king Mesut Ozil is sorely missed at the Spanish giants. They struggled to create chances again at the weekend, scraping a lucky win against lowly Levante, thanks to two scrappy goals in injury time. Many of the Madrid players have expressed surprise and dismay at the club’s decision to sell him, but Khedira has concentrated on what Ozil will bring to his new employers, as reported by The Mirror. .......Read the full article here
The transfer window may have only just closed, but the rumours regarding possible incomers at Arsenal continue unchecked all year round, and a recent piece of speculation revolves around the Real Madrid and Germany international midfielder Sami Khedira who has some very interesting quotes. .......Read the full article here
It has been suggested that the transfer of Mesut Ozil to Arsenal almost did not happen, and it would have been Manchester United who the Arsenal fans would have been furious with, as well as Arsene Wenger and the club’s executives I suspect.
At the moment, Arsenal are suffering with the lack of defensive midfielders, with over-ambitious attacks from all our midfielders and usually fullbacks leaving Mertesacker, Koscielny and Szczesny to clean up the mess, which they don’t always do. With a good defensive midfielder he will stay back and have the common sense to keep a fullback or CM back with him so we have the same or more players to defend the players that are on the attack.
The Sunday papers usually provide us with lots of Arsenal transfer rumours, and today is no exception. It is now widely assumed that we will finally have an official announcement about Koscielny tomorrow. If not then I will be officially worried!
Todays crazy rumour comes courtesy of TuttoSport in Italy, who are suggesting that Juventus will be happy for the Brazilian hardman Felipe Melo to come to the Emirates, but are looking to get Gael Clichy in exchange! Yes I can see Wenger considering making a move for Melo, as he has already registered his interest in public, but there is not a chance in hell that Wenger would let yet another defender leave this summer….. .......Read the full article here
