Arsenal fans must give Wenger one more chance to redeem our season 39

Why Wenger shouldn’t be fired at this current moment by KJ

A lot is being said by both the media and fans regarding Wenger’s future at Arsenal. Many want the Frenchman out of the club as soon as possible. However, this article is to prove that it could be a very short-sighted opinion.
I have to admit, Wenger has really lost it this season. He’s been unable to win against the likes of Norwich, Fulham, Swansea, Aston Villa and even Sunderland. It’s not acceptable at this level. Every top manager has an off day and dropping points can happen. But when it happens against 5 teams that are considerably weaker than us, there is clearly something going wrong.

Atrocious Arsenal – Are we at the end of an era? 58

Bradford 1 – 1 Arsenal; knocked out by penalties by KJ

What a disgraceful performance today. This was a match that Arsenal had to win, HAD TO. It is beyond a joke now. We have constantly slipped up against the smaller teams this season. They look completely disinterested and have no ambition to actually win the match for the fans. It’s a disgrace.

Onto the actual match. We were atrocious from the beginning till half time. We couldn’t string two meaningful passes together. We were lethargic and uninterested and clearly complacent. As a result, we were punished by Bradford from a set piece.

Olympiakos deserved to beat Arsenal, but does it matter? 13

Olympiacos 2 – 1 Arsenal report. A bad result but that’s not what this game was about. by KJ

After a few bad results, it’s refreshing to go into a game knowing that the result isn’t the most important thing. We’ve already qualified and it doesn’t really matter whether we get first or second. We were at a point going to win the group but some slack defending lost us the game at the end.

We started quite well in the first 10 minutes and kept possession in good areas. However we started to fade and Olympiacos being the home team managed to start dominating possession and really threatened us. However, Szczesny was on form and made some brilliant saves to keep us in the game.

What are Arsenal’s chances of silverware at the current moment? by KJ

After this weekend’s results, there is quite a bit of renewed hope for this season’s chance of silverware. We now sit 9 points off the top which is a lot more manageable than the previous 11 points. It’s weird but you have to look at the multiples and all the permutations. City and Chelsea will go head to head this weekend and you can’t help but feel that a draw there really puts us back into the title race (providing we get a win at Villa). We’ll be 8 points off the top (assuming Utd win) and it looks a bit better. It is by no means easy but it seems slightly more manageable. If we could somehow cut the deficit into 5 points from the top, we could really make a run of it if we strengthen accordingly in January.

Arsenal vs Fulham match preview, predicted line-up and score line.

With the injury list finally starting to lighten up, we can expect a return of the Arsenal we all saw at the beginning of this season.

The reputable @GeoffArsenal confirmed that Gibbs, Szczesny and Chamberlain will all be fit to feature against Fulham tomorrow. He also mentioned even better news – both Diaby and Rosicky will finally return to first team football next week. This is extremely positive news as both have been sorely missed – Diaby for his physical presence in the midfield and Rosicky for his directness as well as the opportunity to give Cazorla a rest.

Schalke 04 2-2 Arsenal, not a good result at all and leaves us in limbo by KJ

It was all going so well at 2-0 up. We had our Arsenal back and there was a glimmer of hope once again. However, we are used to bottling it when it counts the most and this game was no different with Schalke managing to get the two goals that gives them the point they needed.

Reading v Arsenal Review – Agony and Ecstasy! 43

Reading 5 – 7 Arsenal, being an Arsenal fan isn’t easy. by KJ

Wow. What a game! I’m still in shock at what just happened in front of me. I’ve never taken the League cup seriously but when we went 4-0 down, it was despicable. Arsenal as a football club should never ever lose a game 4-0, regardless of the competition. Fortunately, the players had different ideas and made it a memorable night in the Capital One Cup.

Reading vs Arsenal Capital One Cup preview, predicted line-up and score-line. by KJ

After the high octane matches between the Premier League and the Champions League, it’s a relief to watch some of our youngsters/fringe players battle it out in the league cup.

Last time round, we decimated our lower league opposition. It was great to see as not only did we notice that we had depth with everyone fit but we also saw some new youngsters that could be future stars at Arsenal.

Reading away will pose a much more difficult test. Not only are they Premier League opposition but also we’ll have to contend with a hostile environment at the Madejski stadium.

No match report for the Norwich game but a heavily critical piece on Arsenal’s performance. by KJ

I’m sorry for not writing a match report for yesterday’s game against Norwich. I watched about 70 mins before I had to go out. It looks like I didn’t miss much in the end as we failed to score the goals required to get the result.
I’ll give a short summary of how the match went down (if you already didn’t know).

It was a terrible performance throughout the match. Arsenal never actually carved out any real chances and never looked like we were ever going back into the match.

West Ham 1 – 3 Arsenal – A strong ending overshadows a familiar shaky start 39

A great win by the Gunners over what was a very physical West Ham side. by KJ

The game started off well for the Arsenal with a lot of possession and good movement by the team in yellow. However, there wasn’t really many chances created. As many would say, typical Arsenal. All the domination without the end product. We all knew what was coming next. The Hammers managed to go one up with a great goal by Diame (someone who I’m a fan of). West Ham were forced into counter attacking but used predominantly the ground to get this attack away. A few passes and Diame was against Jenkinson and Ramsey. He managed to get the ball through Ramsey’s leg (the Welshman should’ve done better) and managed to get a lovely curling shot away from a very acute angle. It beat Mannone to put them 1-0 up.

Arsenal fans should stop over-reacting – Let’s look at the positives for a change! 50

The art of overreaction! by KJ

This Arsenal team started off fantastically after a draw at the Britannia. Games were won at Anfield against Liverpool as well as demolition of newly promoted Southampton at the Emirates. However, they weren’t really a test of what this side could do. Fortunately, we found out soon enough with the tie against Man City at the Etihad. Arsenal passed with flying colours personally. They outplayed the Champions in their own backyard and were able to get a well-deserved draw.

Montpellier review – Arsenal finally learn to win ugly 26

Montpellier 1 – 2 Arsenal, A undeserved win is the best of them all! by KJ

Our first Champions League game was never going to be an easy fixture. Even with a bad run, Montpellier are always going to cause any team a problem. They have players like Belhanda and Cabella who can make a difference.

The game started off quite sloppy for the Gunners. They seemed to misplay passes that they really shouldn’t against lower opposition. I must admit that Montpellier’s pressure was immense in the opening 10 minutes and there was very little space to pass but Arsenal should be able to get out of those situations with ease. It’s our bread and butter.
