It’s time for Arsenal to go for it now Fergie has quit!! 97

Posted on May 08, 2013 by Bob

There is no guarantee of anything in football, but Arsenal will surely have a better chance of winning something, even the coveted Premier League title, next season. The old man of Old Trafford, Sir Alex Ferguson, is hanging up his hairdryer and rose tinted glasses at the end of the season and moving upstairs to be a director ans club ambassador for Manchester United.

Whoever comes in will struggle to replicate the achievements of the 71-year old Scot, especially in their first season. Love him or hate him, and he hasn’t got many fans among the Gooners, you cannot deny his success. United have looked poor at times this season and are not really full of excellent, world class players, but he has dragged, bullied and cajoled them to the title with games to spare.

Arsenal should break the bank to get Lewandowski 74

Should Arsenal break the bank for Lewandowski? By Twig

Lewandowski is certain to leave Borussia Dortmund this Summer, however his destination is still uncertain. It appears the club at the forefront for his signature is local Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich, but as a story on Yahoo Sports goes today, Dortmund are seriously averse to losing Lewandowski to Bayern after losing Gotze to the same side.

The same story says Dortmund’s preference is for Lewandowski to move to a London club namely Chelsea. As I read the story I wondered to myself, and why not to Arsenal? Yeah, why not? Arsenal has laboured miserably without a “proper” and “good-to-go” striker for much of the season. It’s the lack of a STRIKER and not a right-back or any other position that is the reason why we are presently engaged in a dog-fight with Spurs for fourth place.

Why Lewandowski WILL NOT join Arsenal (or any other star from Dortmund) 77

Posted on April 12, 2013 by admin

There have been many Arsenal transfer rumours about possible striker arrivals this summer, and it would seem that Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski is one of the favourite fantasies for most Gooners, especially as he will be entering the last year of his contract at the end of the season.

It would appear that this is simply Pie-In-The-Sky wishing from us if this story I have found from Suddeutsche.de is to be believed.

Other than Lewandowski, Arsenal have been variously linked with Marco Reus, Sven Bender and Mario Gotze, but according to this report these Dortmund players hold up any printed rumours linking these players with Arsenal to be laughed at on the team bus!

Arsenal Debate – Jovetic or Lewandowski? 96

Who would you rather have, Lewandowski or Jovetic? by KJ

Arsenal have struggled quite obviously in the striker department and although this is Giroud’s first season, he hasn’t been up to scratch and there have been calls for a new first choice striker and I agree. After Van Persie’s departure, we’ve struggled until recently to make the difference against well-drummed defences. I personally feel Lewandowski or Jovetic could aid this problem, but who?

Arsenal must move fast on Lewandowski 73

If Arsene Wenger holds any serious hope of signing Robert Lewandowski for Arsenal, he had better get his skates on and talk to somebody at the strikers club Borussia Dortmund. The general manager of the Bundesliga team, Michael Zorc, told the Kicker that they would hold on to their star until his contract finished in 2014 if they could not get a transfer sorted out by May.

“We have clearly positioned ourselves,” said Zorc.

“We hear there is interest but until now we have not received any offers.”

Arsenal set to splash £70m on 3 players? 144

Arsene Wenger may be about to do his bit for the German economy, as it has been reported that he will spend the whole of the Arsenal transfer kitty on three players from the Bundesliga. Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze of the current champions Borussia Dortmund and Lars Bender of Bayer Leverkusen are the three players linked with a summer move to the Emirates, but is Wenger really ready to break the habit of a lifetime and pay top dollar?

Which strikers should Arsenal try to sign? 175

Arsenal’s next striker? Post by Rory Capel

Oliver Giroud is a good player, but he is not the world class striker Arsenal need, he misses a large amount of chances, he has one of the worst goal conversion rates for a striker in the premier league, and what really irritates me in particular is how he whines if he loses the ball or misses a shot, rather than just getting on with the game.

David Villa IS available- Will Arsenal still sign him? 43

Should Arsenal still try and get David Villa? by KJ

One of the biggest January transfer sagas was the potential transfer of David Villa from Barcelona to Arsenal. It was a long agonising process that eventually ended with Barcelona forcing Villa to stay for the remainder of the season. It was a massive blow as it was as clear as rain that Arsenal needed a new striker, a world class one at that. However, today Guillem Balague confirmed on Revista de La Liga that Villa is definitely on his way out this summer and will be coming to England.

Arsenal MUST try to sign Lewandowski 51

Posted on March 08, 2013 by Bob

Arsenal were linked with the Polish international striker Robert Lewandowski last summer, but the 24-year old made up his mind to stay with Borussia Dortmund for another season and try to see how well they could do in the Champions League. It wasn’t a bad decision because the German side knocked out Shaktar Donetsk to make it into the quarter-finals.

However well Dortmund do, however, it appears that Lewandowski will be moving on at the end of the season. Most reports about him suggest that he will be heading to Manchester United or Bayern Munich and he may well be, but I think Arsenal should be doing everything in their power to convince the young striker to become a Gunner.

Wenger in Germany on Transfer business? Who for? 191

Posted on January 22, 2013 by Bob

Arsene Wenger has been in Germany in the last few days, sparking speculation and rumours that he is about to make the first Arsenal signing of the transfer window. After Wenger ruling out any move for the 20-yeat old winger Wilfried Zaha, and Newcastle apparently on the verge of completing the transfer of Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa from Montpellier, two mkore potential additions to the Arsenal squad have passed us by.

Assuming that Wenger was not merely shopping for Lederhosen and Bratwurst, there are a number of possible transfer targets in the Bundesliga that could be on Arsenal’s radar. There have already been suggestions that the rumoured £30 million bid from Arsenal last week was not for Edinson Cavani but for Mario Gotze from Borussia Dortmund.

Arsenal target may be heading to Man United 65

One of the most sought after strikers in football, and someone who would fir perfectly into the Arsenal way of playing under Arsene Wenger is the Polish international Robert Lewandowski. His contract with the German club Borrussia Dortmund has about 18 months left to run, but the Bundesliga side are determined to hold on to their star, at least until the summer.

If Wenger and the Arsenal board were planning to make a move for the 24-year old at the end of this season, they are likely to be disappointed, if the German newspaper Bild is correct. They have reported that Manchester United have already agreed terms with Lewandowski and Dortmund over his summer transfer to Old Trafford.

Dortmund determined to keep Arsenal transfer target 34

One player who is highly regarded at Arsenal and has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates or Old Trafford in the summer is Robert Lewandowski from Borussia Dortmund. As his contract with the German champions ends in the summer of 2014 and he has declined to extend his deal, it was widely believed that Dortmund would sell the striker in the summer rather than lose him for nothing the following year.

Arsenal and Manchester United will be disappointed to hear, therefore, that the club value his contribution so highly that they are seriously considering foregoing a transfer fee to get an extra year’s football out of him, according to Dortmund’s chief executive Hans Joachim Watzke.
