Arsene Wenger has been talking about the striker situation at Arsenal and while many people would describe it as a crisis, the Frenchman seems pretty happy with what he has got. This makes the rumoured transfer of the Romanian international Ciprian Marica very unlikely.
It was reported in the Metro yesterday that the 27-year old striker, who is available on a free transfer after finishing his contract with the Bundesliga club Schalke, was going to announce which club he was joining by the end of this week. It is apparent to anyone concerned with Arsenal that the club is in the middle of an injury crisis. Some fans blame Arsene Wenger and the board for this, due to the failure to sign more players in the summer transfer window, while some back the manager and feel he has just been unlucky.
The root of the problem, however, is not important at the minute. What is important is how we are going to cope with it. There is some encouraging news on Arteta and Podolski, but missing Cazorla for a few weeks is a serious blow to the Gunners. Arsenal’s transfer dealings may not be over for the summer just yet, with reports coming out of Romania that free agent striker Ciprian Marica could move to the Emirates next week.
